It's absolutely incredible to see how much the trio of Chick Corea, John Patitucci and Dave Weckl have evolved, they started out as the foundation of the Elektric Band where Corea was the established elder statesman while the rhythm section of Patitucci & Weckl were the two young prodigies, they would later on go unplugged to become the foundation of the Akoustic Band as a traditional piano trio but still retain the aggressive energy of the Elektric Band. 30 plus years later, all 3 musicians are true legends and sound not only tighter but better than ever

So glad I had the opportunity to see him play live with RTF2! Such a warm and complimentary soul to his fellow musicians, trading notes with incredible improvisational skill. Every candle burns out and glad he was able to make outstanding music very close to the time of his passing. I'm sure (much like David Bowie) few knew his time was near and wanted it that way.
