Henry Jones Jr. (July 31, 1918 - May 16, 2010), best known as #HankJones, was an American jazz pianist, bandleader, arranger, and composer. Critics and musicians described Jones as eloquent, lyrical, and impeccable. In 1989, The National Endowment for the Arts honored him with the NEA Jazz Masters Award. He was also honored in 2003 with the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) Jazz Living Legend Award. In 2008, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts. On April 13, 2009, the University of Hartford presented Jones with an honorary Doctorate of Music for his musical accomplishments.
Jones recorded more than 60 albums under his own name, and countless others as a sideman, including Cannonball Adderley's celebrated album Somethin' Else. On May 19, 1962, he played piano as actress Marilyn Monroe sang her famous "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" song to then U.S. president John F. Kennedy.

#ChickCorea (Armando Anthony Corea, June 12, 1941 - February 9, 2021) was an American jazz composer, keyboardist, bandleader, and occasional percussionist. His compositions "Spain", "500 Miles High", "La Fiesta", "Armando's Rhumba" and "Windows" are widely considered jazz standards. As a member of Miles Davis's band in the late 1960s, he participated in the birth of jazz fusion. In the 1970s he formed Return to Forever. Along with McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, and Keith Jarrett, Corea is considered one of the foremost jazz pianists of the post-John Coltrane era.
Corea continued to collaborate frequently while exploring different musical styles throughout the 1980s and 1990s. He won 25 Grammy Awards and was nominated over 60 times.

@@SatnamSingh-pd3yh and at 22... just heard of him today watching this video and instantly depressed when I looked him up
Me reading this title:
"Hank Jones... Nice, love that guy. Wait, what?! Chick Corea too?! Damn! HIROMI AND AUSTIN PERALTA?!! How did they not create a black hole with the overwhelming mass of talent on the stage?!"
This video changed my life
Don't think I'd play piano today without it
Thank you to the greats, RIP Chick and Austin

DITTO!!!
This is pure love
Navroze contractor Agreed.
No egos. No race. No age or gender. Talent don't care about none of that.
I can watch it again and again and again and again.....

Yep
That's what I m doing now
I dont know if anyone gives a shit but I just hacked my girl friends Instagram account by using InstaPlekt. You can find it by Googling if you care
Truly, the loss of these three beautiful, radiant souls that gave nothing but love and depth to the world of music and art as a whole is one of the most tragic examples of the cruel and ironic nature of death. As it gives life, it is indifferent to take it away. Not driven by reason or judgement, death creeps along the shadow our lives cast. This is at its most clear when shown to me today, in this video.
The pianists of this video are obviously brilliant-but shoutout to my man Omar Hakim on the drums! I’ve always been amazed by his control and energy both on fusion and straight ahead playing like this.
That is what I was about to say !! ))
Yep, gotta love Omar.
chick is one of the most incredible musician of all times.
Rest In Peace.
Yes indeed my friend.
This is what jazz can do - a rather light little Disney Princess song becomes elevated to the heavens
The first and last unique collaboration work of oldest and youngest jazz artists.
Especially we Japanese are always proud of HIROMI.
20:11 I thought it was just Chick, but I was shocked when I saw all 4 of them playing. Truly amazing!
Must have been a pleasure for this young man being with those musicians on one stage.
I think Yamaha piano's sound works well with this kind of music, which is good and bright.
Uehara Hiromi sparkles. I love the scene WataSada looking at her, which is so heartfelt.
The drummer and bassist are great. They did follow her up and down.
Austin Peralta has a wonderful touch. Too sad that he has gone so early.. :(
Hiromi is a gift to the world!!
Vasilis .Gournis I’m really into Hiromi. So cute and super talented.
I think so!
So exciting to have such mind-blowing a young talent who chose JAZZ. Hiromi will most likely inspire new jazz talent. Love all these tasty players' music. Follower of Chick since early 1980's. His style has been constantly evolving. Now, such sweet runs and plays so pretty. Love my jazz.
So was Austin
A gift for the ages.
Great Jazz Musicians talking to each other through their instruments is really wonderful to experience.
I got to play with Austin one time at the Blue Whale in LA. I was struck by his amazing musicality and verve. What a presence. The world lost a great one at such a young age.
Yeahh.. I didn't know both Austin and Chick were gone, so sad
RIP talented young jazz player, and the legendary Hank Jones and Chick Core.
and Austin Peralta :( Too many greats gone too soon
RIP to the Oldest and Youngest players here..Hank Jones and Austin Peralta..
Just reading about Austin, he was 16 years back then!. I can't believe he died so young, he looks so sad and lost in this video. RIP.
Thank you for letting us know. One great giant, and one young prodigious talent, both gone to Musicians' Heaven.
When he's playing he's smiling... :) RIP
I m crying
I was shaken by the news... He was a child prodigy. Can anyone tell me why there is so much sadness among musicians, and artists in general? Does creativity comes when you are looking up from the hole? So sad...
That little improvised give and take between Chick and Hank was wonderful. Always great to hear Chick and Hiromi together, some of their impov is some of the best I've ever heard.
I love the way Hank Jones plays. It radiates so much warmth, authority and refinement.
J
Always loved his playing
Yes
The young guns here are talented for sure. But the depth and interest from the seasoned guys was noticeably at a higher level. Not much can substitute for years of experience and experiences.
I LOVE ALL.of you ..wonderfull
It's very sad that we lost several outstanding jazz musicians only 15 years after.
So this is jazz heaven: rhythm and harmony and meeting of playful minds and skills to match. Everyone having fun! An ode to joy.
The real combination of art and artists..wandering in the wonderland!
Such a fantastic meeting of musical minds....AGE and YOUTH ..... performing with such contemporaneous regard and intuitiveness

Most outstanding jam session from east and west, young and old world jazz musicions.

All these giants on one stage. We are sooo privileged to experience this perfect storm.
this video got me into jazz NGL. seeing hiromi live next month, cannot wait
Yet another one of these amazing artists have left us. Rest in peace, Chick. Thanks for all the amazing music and your fantastic attitude.
This is lovely, to put it mildly. It makes me want to study Japanese! What I mean is, this music opens up music as such, to a heavenly level of "love and understanding", as Jimi H. put it. Playful communication with no words to simplify it...
Absolutely awesome. I can listen to this all day!
Wow. Hiromi’s exit run @7:52 just kills!
I am impressed so much with ensemble of there 4 great pianists.
Surprised the stage held up under the weight of all that talent!
cooldebt, haha....cool observation and quite true. Heavy duty players
Ha...wow! Hiromi crushed it! Much respect to the legends Corea and Hank Jones.
Charles Brown Hank most of all....His style was so clean yet so harmonically complex and beautiful...
Why does it have to be a competition? I'm sure you'll come up with something stupid...
Truly amazing. All the greats on the same stage. Beyond superlative.
So beautiful, and I’m crying.
What a terrible loss when Austin P passed from this world. Ten years ago already ….
This is gorgeous, very glad to have found this. Wonderful memory of these fantastic musicians
A really fantastic performance by real musicians. I love it.
So much talent on one stage, this is fantastic! I love the contrast in playing styles by all four pianists. Just one great big beautiful collaboration.
Brilliant concert.. thank yu for posting..
Wahaaaaa, grand moment de Jazz, merci beaucoup :)
I love listening to this music. Just feels good!!!
oh wow what a lineup, I never notice John Patitucci at first, Omar Hakim is so cool, but Hiromi, Chick, Hank you're all one of a kind, Sadao was just stunned, I know he can do more than that
Brilliant stuff all round. Easily one of the best pieces of Jazz that I have heard. Thanks for the memories Austen. That bit of improvisation was the icing on the cake. Hank Jones, Chick Corea, Sadao Watanabe , Hiromi Uhera, the Bassist and the drummer, a million thanks for making my day.
I'm crying as I watch this
Thank you for share this moment!!!
A galaxy of legends. ..outstanding♥️
What a combination, this is great. When last did I listen to Watanabe,I love this.

Wow! head to head with Chick, coming out of top here and there. What a talent. Thanks for blowing my mind!
That is some of the best jazz I have ever listened to.
Ouvi 1000 vezes. Era um poeta do piano.
Wow! A stage full of legends - old and young.

AMAZING session :)
She's really great! I love Hiromi.
Me too
I love her way of playing She is someOne who can bem on the Vangard of the new Piano Jazzers😢and continue the Legacy of the actual Great Jazz músicians.
beautiful!
Wow, watching Hiromi's entrance was as if universe broke in two instances, where emotion and technique joined themselves and talked both in her jumps and throwings!
This might be the greatest thing I have seen in years.
Nevery heard Chick play with such an exquisite sense of delicacy. Looooove it.
You ain't heard a lot of Chick then. His 'Alice In Wonderland' is a solemn wonder.
Very nice and beautiful Jazz

This video is GOLD!!!!!!!!
So good!
My gosh, it was absolutely awesome! Unfortunately I'm shocked just knowing that Mr. Jones and the young Peralta have passed away!
Absolutamente sensacional! Delirei vendo a japinha e o garotão arrebentando. Droga!!
yes just saw it -- pity for Peralta, he took the jazz route
Great stuff 👏🏾👏🏾
Thanks for posting, great musicians and music is lively! Listening from El Sereno CA
all phenomenal players
The improvisation over this classic is insane!!

I love Sadao Watanabe's sax playing. R.I.P. Austin Peralta.
