If you missed part 1 to the Totem series, you can check it out here: • Pottery Garden Totem (...
Part 3 will be uploaded tomorrow, and look for the other pieces and parts to be uploaded daily until they are done. Such a fun project, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you create!
Music composed for Hobble Creek Pottery by Melody Reid.
Seeing what you’re doing is has inspired me to add to my totems. I’ve made a 2 totems that are not glued in any way. To make the pole I sunk a 5 gallon pail in the ground, cut a hole all the way across a pvc pipe, put a long nail across both holes and filled the bucket with concrete. I use a threaded rod in the pvc pipe for the totem pieces and lock every few pieces with a washer and nut. Come winter I take it down and cover the pvc pipe with a cap until next spring. It’s held up great to Minnesota winters.
It's looking good! Your creative juices are flowing! Hard to talk when you're in the zone! Fun to watch. 😃
Yes its Father's day in the UK tomorrow , Sunday 18th June, Yes please show the glazing too. Love your topper !
We make totems at our club. We use rebar and irrigation tubing over the rebar. We use a pvc metal pipe to cut all the holes so we know they will all be the same and fit over the rebar/tubing.
Love watching your pieces come together. Can't wait to see everything put together
Me either!
That top looks like a flame 🔥
I'm following this one. So much potential in the modular ceramic sculpture. We could take a lot of clues from Chihuly. Most of my sculpture is in one piece at 5 foot, now at 63 that's a lot of weight to move. Yours will be great indoors or out.
Ooooh, indoors...! Lol, now you got me thinking. I'm researching Chihuly now. You've turned me on to so many artists with your book reviews. Thank you!
Watching the process without needing to say anything at all is so peaceful. Don’t get me wrong, I love hearing you explain things, but I really enjoyed todays segment. 🥰 You have the kindest eyes, I’ve often thought you remind me of a Precious Moments figurine. 😇 love the topper of your totem & the picture of your handsome grand dog! Omg precious. Glad to hear hubby is doing better! Thanks Tiffany!
Loved it too, but adore the talking ones. Tiffany has a beautiful way of including the audience with her friendly conversation manner.
I am just now catching up on this series. I am starting a totem and the timing is perfect. I hope you include the glazing portion of your videos. I’m just getting back to dipping and pouring so I would love to learn more. Thanks, I love what you do!!
Hopefully, next week I'll be glazing it and since so many of you want to see, I'll film it. :)
That is a beautiful topper! I can wait to see how the glazes work on it. And now to go make a rough drawing for a collaborative piece.
I really want to see what you and your students make.
Hi. Your totem is coming together nicely. Fathers day here in Australia is the first Sunday in September.
Hi, I absolutely adore your videos. You have a great presentation style. I feel like a friend who has dropped into your studio and you are showing me your latest and greatest creation, with some hints on how I could do my own at the same time. Thank YOU!
Its really cool you touched on the glazing process. A Total and Resounding YES PLEASE from me, Id love to see it!
I love the creation and moulding of the clay but I love adding colour to my own creations (With both underglazes and I have been experimenting with using a painting method with normal glazes too) and would love to see how you add yours! Also, though you haven't mentioned it, even stacking and setting the kiln would be of interest too. As I mentioned I feel like I'm just popping in for a coffee and I feel like I have missed a really fascinating part when I don't get to see the glazing and kiln process (Love the kiln result thou)
🙂
PS we have father's day in September here in Australia
Ahhh, thank you! I'm overjoyed by your comment. I forgot that when I was new to pottery, I couldn't get enough of the whole process. While now, the only thing I find exciting about glazing is the kiln opening, lol. And actually, stacking the kiln is an art in itself. I'll think about how to capture a kiln loading, and you've talked me into showing how I'll glaze the totem. 😀
@@hobblecreekpottery Thank You 😁
Yes Yes I want to see everything ❤
I’m making totem parts 🤞
I wake up in the middle of the night thinking 🤔 ohhhh that might work or this lol
@@shelleydoxtdator753 It's addicting! I'm doing the same. @thepottersjournal just suggested inside totems. Mind blown!
I’m thinking of glazing a few pieces together 🤞. Ohhh I’m having soo much fun, thank you. I’ve even done pinch balls
@@hobblecreekpottery Jeff has some great ideas and love his book reviews also. Tiffany have you some ideas for what colors you'll be using? Fun project......
Hi Tiffinie! Yes, please, show the glazing. Let's see the whole process! I think I would have made a small register mark on the two pieces for matching them back up, but then, it's easy to think of that after the fact! I'm excited to see both of your totems. I can't wait for tomorrow!
And how's the hubs doing? Still getting better?
Lol, I did make a registration mark, but somehow rubbed it out. Okay, I'm considering showing the glazing, though it's my least favorite of the process.
@@hobblecreekpottery I think we all dread that glaze stage, but in the end, it's so worth the time!
September 3rd is fathers day in Australia
I would really benefit from seeing your glazing process.
What wood is your working table, and did you treat it or keave it bare?
Wow, you are awesome, newbie here, so a question you may have been asked a million times and answered, what clays do you use? 😂 do you have a vid on clays? I like your style and techniques! ❤
Welcome! I'm using bmix from Aardvark in this video, which will be fired to a cone 6. But I use all sorts of clay depending on my mood. 😀
