@@thepotterycorner Hi Sarah, I am up to putting the ribs on the poppy seed. I dont have an extractor so will cut the ribs by hand. Could you pls tell me the measurements of your square cutter. I have tried cutting a couple of sizes but they either look too small or too big😂 thx Lorraine

My square extrude is about 1cm (10mm) across but you could vary the size according to your poppy head size. As you say, they look odd with spines too large (or indeed too small!). I have previously made a similar seed type pod from coils ( they look lovely of course :) but I absolutely love your version so I'm definitely going to make a set following your method ... thank you for sharing much appreciated :)

Wonderful skill building tutorial for anything spherical ! I plan on hand building a teapot and cups for my grandchildren and this has helped me develop a straightforward plan to help me get started.

@@thepotterycorner Hi Sarah, I am up to putting the ribs on the poppy seed. I dont have an extractor so will cut the ribs by hand. Could you pls tell me the measurements of your square cutter. I have tried cutting a couple of sizes but they either look too small or too big😂 thx Lorraine
@@lorrainetroughton4778 hi Lorraine - if you are hand making the spines you could use a small coil. My square extrude is about 1cm (10mm) across but you could vary the size according to your poppy head size. As you say, they look odd with spines too large (or indeed too small!). Great tutorial, I always love when you have some of these in your kiln unloadings. I have previously made a similar seed type pod from coils ( they look lovely of course :) but I absolutely love your version so I'm definitely going to make a set following your method ... thank you for sharing much appreciated :)
