thanks for sharing this because I didn't know how to clean up my nose and my doctor didn't show me the way to clean.. I'm gonna do it now
You are welcome but please first check with your doctor to make sure he or she is OK with you doing this.
thank god this is available
This is very useful, is better if you place the peroxide weather in a disposable cup every time, but this is the perfect way to clean the nose
thanks again few days I can be happy if nose is safe thank doctor
What if you're allergic to peroxide?
I have to get a nose surgery it a few weeks 😶 im excited and scared 😳 haha
Please let me know how it went! I hope it goes well! I'm wanting to get a rhinoplasty sometime soon. 😬
Princess Rayray : good luck! I hope it ends up like you wanted :) Are you having packing as well or are you going for the new type of sirgery with no packing so you can breath through your nose at all times? let me know how all ends up :)
Me too, next Monday!
How did it go?
Thanks for sharing. :) after I apply vaseline in my nostrils, do I still continue to clean them with saline every few hours or so?
You're welcome but check with your own doctor first. For our patients we have them clean ever so gently with Hydrogen Peroxide then apply a thick layer of Vaseline. They do this every few hours starting the next day after surgery. The Saline spray is used after day 5 independent of the cleaning to soften up the blood clots and crusts on the inside. Again ever so gently.
Sir, did you at one time work at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) at Ft. Sam Houston at one time? I was a nurse and you really look familiar to me. If you are that person, you did a great job at BAMC.
Thank you but no was not Dr. Naderi
I've had septorhinoplasty exactly one month ago and my nose is trying to curve right, the same way it did pre-op. The doctor says to train it with a massage she thought me by holding it straight into place for a minute at a time - doing this 5-10 times a day. My left nostril still looks weak and long (which makes my left profile look ugly)... this is how I looked pr-op but they say it's asymmetrical swelling. I'm just worried that because it looks so similar to my pre-op nose, is it realistically asymmetrical swelling or it this going to be the nose I'm stuck with and will need a revision?
Hi. I cannot tell because I havent seen you pre-surgery, and wasnt present during your surgery to see if your doctor did all the correct moves and grafts to help straighten your nose. If your doctor did the proper things then this should be swelling and should improve. Perfect 100% symmetry is impossible but things should be much better. But if she did not address the issues and is hoping your massages to straighten it then most likely you may need a revision. Do what she is asking you to do and be patient for at least 6 months and see how things change.
Hey, did it ever work out for you ?
I have a question for a Dr.
During rhinoplasty, the nasal bones may be broken; an osteotomy. I learned that bones, when broken, will bleed and then form a soft callus. Eventually the soft callus turns into a hard callus. Then, over time, the bone goes through a remodeling stage where it eventually resembles its previous, unbroken state. Does this apply to nasal bones as well? And if so, during remodeling, wouldn't the bones return to their previous state, thereby essentially un-doing the osteotomy?
+Jay N Good question. It almost never goes back to exactly where it was but it does widen a bit more than right after the nose cast (splint) removal. It also depends on the original width and height of the bones.
Hey one more thing. I had rhinoplasty about 6 months ago. My profile looks amazing. But from the front the tip looks droopy, which is really disappointing. Is there any way to fix this without having to go under the knife again? What if I tape my tip up each night?
+Jay N Talk to your surgeon. There is no way to tape it back up. Surgery or injections may be an option but I cannot tell without seeing and examining you. Good luck
What if you're allergic to peroxide?
+Shervin Naderi (MD) Tell that to my mother, who has nearly died from the allergy many times.

I'm sorry I misread your comment. Flour used to be bleached with peroxide, so that's why my mother was exposed so often. We don't keep anything that contains peroxide at any cost. Are there any subsitutes?
+Shervin Naderi (MD) Thank you so much for your help.
***** Thanks for this, so peroxide and what was the gel? Vaseline?
+Beatryxa7 not impossible. if you read the other comments, my mother has almost died from it.
