      +Kirsty Mc Laughlin I'm so glad it has helped!! I felt like my tip was kind of upturned for about a month. My surgery was on June 30th, 2015 so I'm almost 10 months out now and I can't tell you how much it continues to improve! Once I got to about a month a thought my nose looked AMAZING and now I love it even more! Even now I continue to notice positive changes and improvements as my swelling continues to decrease. More of those secondary changes, subtle feminine creases around the tip, my adorable supra tip break- those subtle but beautiful changes continue to become more apparent all the time! I can't wait for you to see your end results, I'm sure you will look GORGEOUS!😘- Erin R

    Dear Doctor Nayak and Erin.
    I just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to both of you for doing the healing timeline video and picture series.
    I had a surgery by another surgeon and had my cast removed yesterday. I was not prepared to see the early outcome. I am so distraught over how upturned and fat my nose is. This page and the video have been the ONLY detailed visual sources of comfort I was able to find online on the healing/de-swelling timeline.
    Thank you for drying my tears!! This video is so valuable for people like me who are in utter shock over the week 1 look when the cast comes off. I cannot thank you enough.
    Sincerely,
    Oz

I still have some swelling and numbness on my right side but my nose looks a ton better. I am actually starting to enjoy looking at it now. And now I fully believe that once the swelling is completely gone, which it will be, I am going to be 100% happy with it. I wish the same for you! Just be patient. Some days due to the heat I still see that my nose is more swollen than the day before but then it goes back to normal.

      Dany Carbs Hi! It’s been about 13 months since my surgery and I can say that it has changed quite a bit since my surgery. While it is a small improvement, I think my surgeon was just a bit conservative, which I suppose is better than being overly ambitious. :) I’m considering a revision to shave it down just slightly and to refine the tip a bit. The tip of my nose actually looks more bulbous now than it did before, which is a bit frustrating. Overall, I’m happy I did it and I definitely don’t regret it, just wish for $20,000 I had gotten what I wanted the first time. Good luck! It will definitely change quite a bit from now until about a year, so as they all say; be patient. :))

    Thanks !! I was looking for this exactly ! I just got my rhinoplasty 11 days ago and they took my cast off yesterday, and even though I knew my nose would look swollen and weird, I really have this strong piggy feeling and I hate my face from the front at the moment... Thankfully most people seem to think the same so that's reassuring, but most of the time when you watch videos about rhinoplasties, people make the video a year after or 3-6 months after, so they're all happy and no one says anything about the first few weeks when they hate their face hahah It's nice here to see the real evolution because I'm really not used to having my nose up and from the pictures you've shown her nose really looks amazing and different now !

      @@ange9714 hey, the feeling definitely doesn't stay that way! I'm glad with my nose now, it isn't perfect, because you never know exactly how it's going to turn out, but it still so much better than before!
      The only weird thing for me now is when I see old pictures when I felt pretty, because I didn't mind my nose from the front (from the side I had a bump and my nose was a tiny bit long), so I kind of liked it better before because well... it was my face for 24 years! But I'm sure people need a while to completely get used to it. From the side I love it, I don't have any issues with people taking pictures from my left side anymore đŸ‘đŸŒ
      I'd say I needed about a month/6 weeks to really get used to it and not feel awful anymore. And it's funny because when I see pictures from the first few days it doesn't look as bad or as different now, but at the same time it does haha I can see for sure on some pictures that it was swollen and a bit up, but I really felt ugly af, and now I'm like: well it's actually not that different, my nose looked pretty much like it is now. I think it's just your brain that needs to get used to it, and it'll be ok!

I can say that my nose was not an easy one to fix and no matter how it looks in 6 months, compared to my original nose, it should be ok. My surgeon had to use cadaver rib cartilidge because my first nosejon used everything they could. Sith thos surgery, I'm not getting that immediate astonishment that I did with the first which I was very happy with for many years, I had a very large nose that I severly injured as a child and it was extremely crooked. Since I do have very oily skin and somewhat thicker skin, sounds ike I need to stop over analyzing and obsessing at the mirror.

    i believe that the reason surgeons do the upturned/pig look because they are accounting for your nose dropping in a period of month. after my rhinoplasty my nose looked AMAZING as soon as the cast was removed. the tip was perfect. however one year later i am completely dissatisifed because my tip has now fallen and it looks droopy. i am starting to think the pig/upturned effect is deliberate now, because most good surgeons are aware that the tip will fall?? not sure if this is correct, but its how i see it. i think if you have a pig/upturned look it can most likely be fixed. if your nose tip looks just perfect after cast removal, i think there is much more cause for concern because it will drop :(. i now have to do a revision.

    • @ninalou4629
      @ninalou4629 Pƙed 5 lety +1

    • @LeiliMana
      @LeiliMana Pƙed 5 lety +1

      Yah obviously that's what happens, it's not a deliberate move to fool their patients! You should have consulted with your surgeon better as to what you really wanted, he could have done your nose pointing up higher, wouldn't have been a problem! And besides, how long has your surgery been because it takes at least a year to see a final result. If you are absolutely unsatisfied and want a revision make sure you communicate very clearly as to what you want, show picture and let the doctor edit your picture and show how it should look like on photoshop first

  • @alexprinsrealestateagent1263

    I had a secondary revision surgery. My skin is a little thicker and oilier. I want to make sure I get the best results since I wasn’t happy with the first surgery. I started taping my nose as that was recommended. Do you recommend taping the nose for better results? And for how long? I’m taping as often as possible.

    Thank you for this lovely video. I wonder if I could get some advice from any experts out there . I have just had a septorhinoplasty. Its actually the second operation I had on my nose. I had one when I was 20 and the surgeon made my nose way too dainty and shaved too much bone away to the point that I guess made it slightly feminine. I am now 50 and just had this second operation to fix my breathing since the first operation had caused the nasal passages to become too narrow over time and that affected my breathing. I just had my cast taken off today after 6 days and I am happy that my nose no longer looks so fake and feminine. However I am now worried that my nose looks pretty fat and bulbous , wide and piggy like. The surgeon did reassure me there is a lot of swelling and when it goes down I will be very happy with the result. Can I ask you guys does the nose change that much to go from being now chunky to like a normal width? Not too slim but not too wide?

      Hello & thank you for watching! Truly, we cannot give any sort of medical advice without actually seeing you. It is very likely and possible that you will have swelling up until the 12 month mark if not longer following surgery. It is nearly impossible without a physical exam to determine if what you are describing is swelling and/or if what you are experiencing is "normal". Please reply! :( I've had mine 3 days ago and I didn't have any bandages due to only little work needed in my case but my under eye area is still really swollen and bruised as to my nose isn't that worse. How do I reduce the under eye swelling and bruising please? Thank you so much!

      +nicky14able Hi! Sorry for the late response! As you can tell from my post-surgery pictures I was definitely a bruiser too! 72 hours after surgery you can begin taking a supplement called Bromelain and Arnica Montana. You should not take Bromelain if you are allergic to bee stings or pineapple. It REALLY helped for me! - Erin R

    Just would like to know when does the numbness goes away . I had the procedure three weeks ago and only the right side of my nose has ang sensation but the left is totally numb and a bit larger than the right nostrils .

      @NayakPlasticSurgery  Pƙed 6 lety

      Sorry for the delayed response! Everyone is a little different, but it does take a while for the numbness to subside. In general, you should expect at least a few months until you regain full sensation.

      Your experience sounds very normal. It can take quite a while for the tip to soften and for all of the swelling to subside. This is the most difficult part of the surgical process- patience is key!

    Hi Im wondering if anyone can help me. I had open rinoplasty last week to correct a bump in my bridge and reduce a hanging columella. The bridge is fine but the columella is still hanging low. I completely understand this is an early stage and there is swelling as it feels very hard especially seeing as they made the incision through the columella. Im just worried because you say the tip drops dose this mean that it will likely drop more? Id really appriciate any advice. Thank you

      Unfortunately, it is very difficult to give meaningful medical advice without seeing you in person, or in pictures at the very least. When it comes to seeing your actual results, you really won't have a good idea of what your nose will look like until about 3 months after your surgery, and final results can't be seen until a year. If you are still unsatisfied with your nose once a large amount of the swelling is gone, you can consider a revision; however, keep in mind that a good plastic surgeon would not consider doing a revision, until a full year after your initial surgery.

    I had a rhinoplasty but the middle area of the bridge is still swollen + my nostrills are uneven 8 weeks post surgery will it tend to even out? Because it makes one side go up more than the other

      I had my surgery 11 days ago and my nostrils are uneven too, one is higher than the other. I'm hoping it is just swelling and will resolve with time. I have an appointment with my surgeon next week to confirm.

      @NayakPlasticSurgery  Pƙed 7 lety +2

      Yousif, we can't said for certain because we can't see you, but it does sound like swelling the will most likely even out. Swelling on one side of the nose more than another is very common.

    Got my cast off today. Yes. I felt a bit sad thinking it looks the same. Was hoping it would have a more distinct scooping effect. Will it possibly do that after swelling goes down?

    • @NayakPlasticSurgery
      @NayakPlasticSurgery  Pƙed 8 lety +9

      +millerjky Yes- absolutely! Your nose is SO swollen at one week -you can barely see the true results at this time! We always tell our patients that when you get your splint off (1 week post-op) your nose will be too "fat" or wide all the way down the bridge and tip, and too "upturned" mostly due to swelling. These effects should be mostly gone by 1 month post-op. However, rhinoplasty procedures can take a year or more to heal before you can fully appreciate the final results! I know it can be difficult at times but you just have to be patient. It should all come together in the end! -Erin R💋
