I was a bit gung-ho through that water - makes me shudder in hindsight. The "breakfast holes" as people are calling them in the comments were very common in Australia in the 70s and 80s. Lots of places with them boarded up now and to find one still being used is very rare. It was a good breakfast, I was happy! 😁

😆 Yeah I cringe watching that water crossing now, it was only a month later that Spencer explained to me how the soil can be washed away under the bitchumen.. was too optimistic but it worked out okay.

And some hotel/motel's would have a toaster so that if you liked your toast hot it was possible otherwise the toast was cold.
100% I still see toasters now and then in hotels but it's not standard fare like it was.
