How to Frame a Bathroom Mirror for Just $10 !!

- Framing a bathroom mirror is the EASIEST and CHEAPEST way to transform any bathroom! Please tell me 1 other way you can transform a room for less than $10? I don't think you can do it, but prove me wrong in the comments.
Every bathroom I've owned in both my primary home and my investments gets a framed mirror. As you'll see in this video, even plain bathrooms like this one gets a frame, all the way to my most elegant master bath remodels.
The pine wood here is only a few bucks per piece, even during this 2021 lumber market, and then a small thing of stain and caulk or mirror adhesive to hold this stuff on. Some of you may say "it's more than $10 with all the stain and sandpaper and glue!". True - but I'm assuming most people that are attempting this will have some leftover sandpaper and some tubing of caulk of some sort. Even if you don't, think of quantities of scale - but 1 can of stain and you can do 20 bathrooms.
Hope you enjoyed this mirror framing process and I'm glad I could finally get my tutorial out to you all!
Thanks for watching this how-to video.

“Not sure if anyone is searching for this”….oh no no no I purposely looked for this 😂
I did!
Right?
Yeppers.
Me too
Same
Let’s be honest here. This project is way more than $10 unless u have the piece of pine wood, wood stain, sandpaper, sander, glue, pre stain, polyurethane, etc
And a saw…
Yep, this is precisely what I was looking for. A friend of mine suggested I consider putting some type of frame around my bathroom mirror. She is a great decorator. So, years later, here I am. This helps alot. To say the least. Thanks❤
I searched for this specifically! Never underestimate your viewers. Thanks for the helpful video! I think I can I think I can... :)
Exactly what I was looking for! We just bought a home where a huge glued on mirror goes from corner to corner and down to the countertop backsplash without a centimeter to spare!
This is the best quick solution ever!
This is exactly what I was looking for. Yours was the first video to come up. Lucky me. Very helpful.
Thank you sir! This was excellent! Appreciate the positive attitude! And I specifically looked for this as well.
Love the Mandalorian reference. Thanks for this! Much easier to do it your way than the way I was planning.
Thank you! I can't wait to get started! This is definitely going to save me a lot of money!
Exactly what I have been looking for! Thank you for the great idea!!
Thank you for this. I will be trying it today. Can’t wait!
Thank you so much for this idea!! I’ve been trying to remove ours and it’s giving me anxiety. This is going to be way easier
This was incredibly helpful!!! Thank you!
I used left over chair railing because its decorative and lighter BUT i could not get my corners to match up. I also used a ton of caulk and guess what? It fell off the mirror so I had to scrape the mirror to reapply. Your video was awesome!! Your process looked so smooth and easy. I wish I had seen this first!
Exactly what I needed thanks for uploading
I was EXACTLY searching for THIS!!!
I've been looking for this for a long time!
This is exactly what I needed! Thank you so much 🙏🏽
Whohooo...Happy I found you. Subscribed immediately I need some of those expensive tools though...ugh
Something so simple but super awesome content 👏
Had everything you want on a youtube video 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
There is no way to find 1x3 pine boards for $10. Real project price is $100 not $10
$2-3 per foot is more realistic
Stain, coat, glue will be over $30
Minimum project price is $50-100 depends on mirror size
Yep… unfortunately you are correct!
+$500 for that power saw and other tools. It's like one other charlatan who posted how to build a $10 chairs, you just need a $10.000 workshop.
Because the price off ALL wood has gone up.
Totally agreed. I bought the box saw and then trim pieces because it was so expensive otherwise. Definitely not a $10 project unless you have the various products hanging around. The stain and brushes and varnish and caulk gun and adhesive will be far more than $10.
Love the video and the beer!
wonderful idea!
I specifically searched “how to frame a mirror.” This is bliss ty
Great video! Inspiring
I did search for this!!!! Thank you! I hate the unframed giant builders grade mirror in my bathroom👀
Great job!!! 👏🏽
I have been trying to figure out how to frame my bathroom mirror thanks alot for this video...
I was absolutely searching for specifically this haha
Thanks for making it easy to understand not a whole lot of extra talking😊
Well done nice job and to the point. 👍👌
Very helpful thank you
Kettell Beerworks has some nice beers! Great pairing with a mirror framing.
Thank you so much!
I tried using Liquid Nails or something to put up a mirror frame like this... the darned thing just fell apart after a year. I'm now looking into a more hardware based approach - L-brackets and screws to hold the frame together, and then find some way to mount it to the bathroom wall.
good idea for mirror frame
I'm interested to know what was the size of your mirror vs. what was the size of your frame. You mentioned a little bit over. Just wondering . GREAT VIDEO !!
Great tutorial!! (Now we know why you told us not to watch this after we did our mirror reno video. LOL)
Great tips, I was watching another video and like your's the best because it does not require drilling near the mirror. I'm a beginner and the thought of drilling near the mirror could be a catastrophe.
Beautiful frame 👍
Thank you!
Hi, @Kelly Concepts. I wonder what model # of your Dewwalt saw? I thought it needs to stick on the table but I can see you can do it on the ground. that is amazing. I want one for my kitchen project. thank you.
I’m looking for this!
Super😁 It looks super easy and the best part, it's for only $10. I'm going to make it in black 😁
Did you do it? How much did it really cost? The stain and pre-stain will exceed $10 for sure. 🤔
going to do it tomorrow. painting it white or black
Does it matter if I use 1X4 "select pine" for a 42x80 mirror? I don't want to see knots on the wood, but I am not sure if the wood will be too heavy for the mirror. Thoughts?
I updated my rental with contact paper on the vanity. Painted the faucet spicket and handles black...took out the unfinished mirror and hung a framed mirror. And painted the cabinet black
I’m going to paint my faucet as well…
So great I wanna do the same for mirror I won’t do it myself but someone else will lol
Good 👍
I purposely was looking for this video, I’m replacing my bathroom mirror with 2 separate mirrors. The one mirror that the house came with is the one I want to frame and put in my room. No need to waste it, might as well do something great with it.
This helped
Definitely searching for this! 😂 builder grade bathrooms are the worst! Why are mirrors so expensive? 😭 I appreciate how beginner friendly this is.
What color stain was that? And what do you do if the mirror has clips?
This is perfect! I can't wait until I frame our mirror at home.
Exactly what I’m looking for 😂
My house was built in the 80’s and has mirrored walls. I could take them down but I’m thinking about framing them. My only concern is the mirror trim that was put up between the panels. Do you know how I can remove those without breaking the rest of the glass?
Nice
I bought liquid nails for my adhesive. Hoping that will work as well.
What is the intro and outro track if I may ask. Very nice.
So, it will cost more than $10.?! I just appreciate the fact that there is a way to recreate a large wall mirror. We have them all over our recently purchased house and I was dreading replacing them. Now we see that it can be tastefully done. Always good to find another perspective. You did a good job walking us through the process. So thank you for this. You saved us a lot of time and effort. Well worth the cost. Katie
I literally came looking for this😂
I was looking! When wr toured our house the 2nd time the master bathrooms ugly mirror frame (looked like left over bad bord ) fell apart 😭 I'm always looking for little things like this to enhance the houdr eithout my hubby's help.
What type of caulking did you use?
I was searching it when I found your video, lol. How is your mirror hanging on the wall? I want to do this, but have the mirror holders all around the mirror.
I just thought of this and wondered if anyone had it online.
Thanks for sharing. This is the way…
What about mirrors that have the 2 clips at the top and bottom? The board won't lay flat. Suggestions?
4:20 what grit are you using when sanding between those clear coats
This is Exactly what I’m looking for my living room. My only issue I have, I don’t have an electrical saw to cut 45 degree 😢
You make it look so easy! But the mirror has a metal frame at the bottom. How do I frame over that?
What about when the clamp to hold the mirror are on there. How do you get the frame flush??
I came to find this too, but wondering if wood good for a bathroom mirror? What other material would work?
How was your mirror attached to the wall initially?
thank you for the tutorial! this is super helpful but i agree that it will most likely cost a lot more… even with all the other supplies (sanded, stain, clear cost etc) the cost of wood is more expensive than that (at least here). Still going to try this since i’ve slowly been upgrading my bathroom and i love the idea!
Is it necessary to stain if I’m going to paint the frame?
Thanks for such a clear explanation. I have wanted to do this and cutting the 45 degree angles is holding me back. I think I’m buying a new saw tomorrow. I just don’t get the accurate cuts manually.
Try using a miter box?
You mentioned using only a few dots of glue in case you wanted to remove it later. Will it come off easily or potentially break the mirror or ruin it in some way? I’m renting and am looking for a quick update.
Thinking the same thing, wonder if we can put a piece between behind the vertical piece at the top the mirror at the left and right so there will be an extra amt to screw the top piece of wood in the wall. And use a metal brace attached it to the vertical piece at the bottom to screw them into the left and right side of the wall and then find something to cover it up
My mirror has a couple plastic clips holding the mirror on the wall, how do I work around that? Cut out the wood on the back/mirror side?
What if my mirror has a couple of clear clips at the top , am I ok to remove them to add the frame
You probably don’t read these anymore, but any advice for a mirror that’s clipped on to the wall?
How is the mirror attached to the wall?
Grear job. It might look chic if you painted the frame black.
I wish I didn't have the clips holding my mirror to the wall! Would love to have my mirrors framed!
Just take to clips off an secure the mirror via another method. Can glue the mirror to wall or even use the framing itself to hold it up. You can sandwich the mirror between the wood frame and another piece of thin wood. Then just hang it like you would a large picture frame!
Just notch out the wood, easiest way for me when I did mine.
@@MrHipp00 Thank you I haven’t done it to the bathroom yet but there is also a large builder’s mirror the previous owners clipped up at the bottom of our stairs and it worked perfectly!
Same problem, thinking of gluing a little piece of wood or shells aver the clips to hide them.
@@ChrisColangelo My mirror is glued and has clips, so it’s safe to say that I can remove the clips
I don't know how to cut it. Is there another as a straight cut?
This is exactly what I searched for today in youtube. Did you leave the little screws the hold the mirror to the wall as it is and stick the wood on top of them ?
My mirror is held up with glass holders, how to frame it around those?
“Liked” for the “Mandolorian” reference/clip.
Not sure if I’d get a reply. But what do do if we have an unfinished mirror and want to put it on the wall? I want to mount it just like you did. But how do I hang it on the wall? What goes behind the mirror to give it support?
Mirrors in bathrooms can be hung with cheap little mirror clips or with mirror adhesive (in the caulk aisle at the store). If you use mirror clips and want to frame the mirror, you do it the same way as the video but just carve out little holes in the back of the frame where the mirror clips are in the way.
Bro ok. Opening a beer and "This is the way" which is exactly what I'm doing. Watching Mando and drinking beer trying to frame my mirror
One question! What do you suggest to do if there are those plastic anchors on the front of the mirror
How would you remove it if needed?
Any advice for a circular mirror please?
Easiest would probably be an octagonal of hexagonal frame.
Lol did you dry fit before glueing it to the mirror?
We just purchased a new house with 4 bathrooms containing unframed mirrors. However, they used mirror clips to hang them that stick out over the top and sides of the mirror. Any suggestions on how to do this project when the mirror surface isn't flat due to mirror clips? Thanks in advance.
New video coming on this, but I have a 1” drill bit and I just carve out a little from the back of the frame where the clips would be. It’ll look like a bowl in the back of the frame it sits flush over the clips. Or a flathead screwdriver and a hammer can be used to carve out the back.
Hi there, my mirror has clips on the top and bottom holding it on, do I need to worry about those when applying the frame? will the glue adhere appropriately even if those clips don't let it lie completely flat against the surface where they are?
Good question. I am totally curious about that, too.
You can make a notch in the back of the wood
$10.00, the only way this would cost that is if you basically had everything already. If you were buying the wood, stain, or paint, paint brush, and caulk. Going to the store, gas, miter saw/ coping saw/ hand saw, square, ruler. The price could be $50, $100, or more. My mirrors are held up with mirror holders that stick out a 1/2 inch. I could make it work by drilling the wood on the back side.
yep! don't forget health insurance. you don't want to mess with power tools without coverage. Add another $200 to the mirror frame cost.
What about the little clips on the mirror that holds it up?
I don't think I had any of those on this mirror (mirror was probably glued to wall), but when I come across that I notch out that space behind the wood trim to fit over clips.
For those renting, use a double sided tape but NOT the permanent one.
I have a monster mirror in my bathroom that I have been wanting to frame…for about 10 years. I keep putting it off because the bathroom needs to be updated. This may motives me to do it anyway.
Definitely try it out! It's cheap and easy
I purposely looked too!
So is the DeWalt saw and bench all under $10?? It actually would help to explain that you're talking about only the materials for us poor AF people :) The mirrors look great though and I hope you have great success with your Air BnB biz! 🙂
This is EXACTLY what I was looking for !
I just bought a $30 mirror on fb marketplace and the frame immediately fell apart 😭😭 like, in the car on the way home, one side fell off. it was crappy particle board. So now im judt gonna mount it and frame it 😍😍
I'm a big noob with DIY things. My unfinished mirror has mirror clips. Should I just try to cut holes into the back of the wooden frame to go around each clip?
Yep! Just line up the wood frame with the clips to mark their locations, then carve out little holes in the back of the frame so they can just sit over the clips.
