I have that same motor but with a jet pump instead of a prop. Empty 16x48 boat just me and 6gal tank I can run 24 down river and 18 up river.

@@gdamtbnms I can run super shallow i can run in about 4 inches when wide open but do lose some power with the jet.

18mph ain’t too bad with 3 extra motors and another man on board. My 40hp mariner/Yamaha 2 stroke pushes my 15’ fiberglass (heavy) tri hull at around 22 mph with two adults full tank of fuel and full ice chest and gear. It will pull a tube with 3 kids on it fully loaded at 21 mph. Best outboard I’ve ever had, has never left me stranded on the water.

its not horrible... boat is a dog and only rated for 30hp to begin with lol!
