  • I've been working on this for so many months! I'm so happy to finally be able to upload it.
    This was so much fun to do because I got to include characters that usually don't get that much attention.
    Thanks to Lumi Tiikeri who sent me The Black Cauldron and to William Meagher who helped me with the original dub of Alice in Wonderland.
    I decided not to include any sequel characters because this is already a pretty big ranking. And before you ask, no, I won't do this with any other language except perhaps English.
    Btw, sorry if the comments aren't that good, but commenting on speaking voices has always been harder than commenting on singing voices. But, well, I did my best ^^

      I don't like rankings that only say positive things either. YYou should at least give a reason for why a voice is at the bottom of a ranking.
      Jane has always been one of my favourites. It was hard to rank the voices though, because they're all part of my childhood.
      I decided to include all main female characters from the classics. So no sequel or spin off characters. At first I only had a short list, but it kept growing as I wanted to add more characters x)

    Swedish voices are so good that even the "worst" one may be a bit annoying but still not bad at all lol It's almost a perfect cast every time. Your first Snow White is a jewel.
    I love many voices here, especially the Sandén sisters and Anna Norberg :) I'd love to watch Tangled in Swedish
    Right, Myrra is not at her best with Jasmine but still ok. She starts to be good with Wendy.
    Weirdly enough, I do love Moana's speaking and singing.
    Sadly, I don't really like Pocahontas which sounds quite bland to me both speaking and singing compared to the other Swedish voices. But her speaking is very similar to the speaking voice of the French Pocahontas though.
    I am only A1 in Swedish but since I currently live in Sweden, I can hear Sissel's accent. Must be disturbing as a Swede to hear such an accent the whole movie lol but still her voice is amazing.

    • @FeliciaGoldfire

      I agree, I only dislike a few voices on the list, most of them are great. But everyone can't be in the top :) And as a kid I never noticed that Ariel had an accent, but now that I've grown up it's a bit annoying.

    • @egirlnet
      @egirlnet Před 6 lety

      Btw I have a question about what Nani is saying at 9:16 after the "nej", is it "kanske" pronounced "kanche" because it is the Stockhlolm accent?

    • @FeliciaGoldfire
      @FeliciaGoldfire  Před 6 lety +3

      Yeah, she says "kanske". But it's not only Stockholm that uses that pronunciation, it's quite common in other accents as well. I'd say that throughout Sweden the two different pronunciations are used about 50/50. ^^
      (And btw, using "ch" to describe the sound doesn't really work because in Swedish "ch" can be pronounced in many different ways) :)

    I am from Sweden and are raised with the swedish dubbed versions of Disneys movies, i was kid during the late 90's witch was a time when the dubbing industry was a more accepted industry than earlier when the techniques was in a big rebooting. Before that era the industry was extremely small, the technics was extremely advanced so it was very hard to do a dubbed movie or TV- show. The actors during the past era before my childhood was a product of it's time in acting, especially during the very first years of dubbed movies meaning the 30's to the 50's. That generation is now unfortunaly gone, most of those actors has passed away. It's fascinating to see how a foreign person reacts to swedish dubbed versions, hope you like this information and have that in memory for upcoming videos about swedish dubbed versions

    Swedish voice acting is often miss in the hit or miss scale, but disney usually feels like they nail it. However, there is also Batman the brave and the bold where i prefer batman and plasticman's swedish voices to the english ones. the Grodd turns tourists to mutant monkeys episode's beginning is exceptionally funny in swedish(ser du vad jag ser? för jag ser gorillor på flygödlor med vapen, som stjäl en båt). Perhaps you could make a ranking video of best performed moments in swedish nondisney dubs? thanks for this video, it was a real nice experience

    Your editing is amazing!! I love it!Eventhough that there are voices that haven't impressed you much I guess it would be difficult to make a ranking for them. I was sure that Esmeralda, Pocahontas and Nala would be on your top 10. I have to say that any person has his/her own critirials for these three characters according perhaps to his/her childhood voices. As for your number 1, Anna managed to sound like an English lady, at least this is what I get from her in my Greek ears! She is a worthy winner!! ❤❤❤❤

    Loved this video! I am actually doing something like this, except that I will only include main characters. I really love Sharon on Esmeralda, she sounds mature but true and honest enough in her acting, I like her a lot. I also love Sandén sisters, they're both amazing, and even that Molly sounds a bit mature than most of the other voices on Rapunzel I still think she sounds much more authentic, sweet and strong than those others. I prefer Sofia Kallgren as Odette, I really think that's her best speaking role, but I still like her as Belle. Even that sometimes I find Sissel a bit emotionless in the speaking parts, I can't dislike her either. I adore her voice, she sounds teen-ish and girly, really friendly as well without sounding spoiled. Your first place is also great :) (sorry for the long comment ahah). Lovely editing btw ^^

    hnngh OK i love this so much even though i have disagreements (forgive my word-puke here it's just that i've thought abt this A LOT but i'm too lazy to do a ranking of my own lmao so i feel like i need to get it out somewhere). i understand your criticisms of birgitta but she's one of my darlings, her acting isn't the most involved but i don't rlly think that's required for the role she plays, it works imo. i would also put maj-britt over sanna nilsen, overall i'm soft for that old-timey swedish dialect but also bc i think she's a perfect fit for alice. one of the things i disagree with the most here is pauline's placement, i think she's actually one of the best swedish princess speaking voices; her acting sounds rlly natural to me and i think she does an especially great job when it comes to comedic acting. she nails the comedic tone imo. i agree that myrra is at her best with megara, but i would still put her jasmine and wendy higher i think
    i feel like amy's voice just doesn't suit itself for voice acting (or maybe it does nowadays idk) but i got pleasantly surprised by her performance in min lilla syster so there's no doubt she can act.. her voice might've matured too

    • @FeliciaGoldfire
      @FeliciaGoldfire  Před 6 lety

      Haha, thank you for the very long comment :D I won't be able to reply about everything, but I'll do my best x)
      I agree that the old-timey Swedish dialect is charming, when it comes to voices like Maj-Britt's, I just dislike her voice itself. The dialect is lovely, but her voice sounds kind of whiney to me. I can see how Pauline is an ok actor, but I just don't really like her, her acting doesn't stand out to me and neither does her voice.
      I agree that Sofia embodies Belle really well and I love her as Belle, but when you do a ranking you have to at least try to be objective :P
      I really love Anna-Lotta too, and at one point she was at the top of my ranking, but somehow she kept slipping down.
      As for Annika, her acting is very "by the book" to me. She does every line like it's supposed to sound, but I really can't hear Elsa in anything she does.
      As for the Sandén sisters... Jag vet inte riktigt om jag kan höra det snobbiga stockholmska i deras röster som du gör. Jag vet precis vilken sorts sociolekt du pratar om, men jag kan inte höra den alls i någon av deras röster. Eventuellt att det är en liten stockholmsk dialekt i Mimmis röst, men då mer tänkt i faktiska dialektala ljud och inte så mycket "tonen" som är det mest särskiljande i den bitchiga stockholmskan. Idk, är väl en fråga om hur man upplever det antar jag :)
      At first I placed Sharon in first place, but then I kept looking at other actresses and felt that they were just as good as Sharon and that they deserved some recognition x)
      I think it's only interesting to watch speaking rankings in languages where you're familiar with all the voices, partly because you will know their full performances and know what you think already, but also because it can be hard to distinguish between voices in languages you don't speak. :)
      Thanks for the comment, it was interesting to read ^^

    Omg what a perfect video! I wish I could do the same for my country, this is so interesting and your comments are very efficient & precise! Besides, we agree a lot. Your top 2 is beyond amazing, I must say I’m really glad about Anna as Jane, because the scene where Jane is drawing Tarzan (speaking about his eyes etc) is an absolute perfection in Swedish. About Myrra, I do prefer her Meg way more than her other roles, especially Jasmine where’s she’s not so good, what a shame because she’s such a good fit.
    I’m glad you love the Sandén sisters, especially Mimmi. I can’t think of anyone better than her as a speaking voice, except Kristen Bell. She’s so into it & engaged.
    I also agree about the last places, especially Birgitta.
    Maybe I would put Sharon , Amy & Annika higher. I reaaaaally like Sofia, Divina & Anna-Lotta ! Her And about Sissel, she’s absolutely great, but as a French, I can’t hear any accent, even if I listen to a lot of Swedish (and I’m learning it every monday & wednesday in my university xD) ^^

      I'm glad you liked my comments as they were very hard to make :) I love that scene from Tarzan in Swedish too, it's one of my favourites! And I didn't know you were learning Swedish! There's a surprising amount of people in this community who are learning Swedish. I can't imagine it would be very useful to know unless you're going to move to Sweden though ^^

      Felicia Goldfire Yes but I don’t think like that. I don’t learn a language because it’s useful in a lot of countries ^^ I learn it because I love it, that’s for my culture. I speak English, that’s the only language that I think is truly necessary. I also speak Spanish, and I study German. So from now I do think the languages I learn don’t have to be the most useful! They’re just beautiful, that’s all that matters!

    Alright back for round 2. Love Sharon. Watched that whole film in both French and Swedish and honestly they are both BETTER than English. Can't say I love Suzanne because Barb Luddy is one of my absolutely favorite underrated English Disney voices. Mimi! Good!! Helene can be hard to love when Laura Mayne/Matilda and Judy Kuhn/Irene are what you're most used to. Wow glad to see Nala here! I ADORE her English voice and her Swedish voice is just totally opposite and yet perfectly fitting in a different way. She sounds so tough and brave and wise, almost more like Sarabi than Nala, and I love it. Nice to see someone Swedish like Meg better than Jasmine, I find her Jasmine a lil overrated compared to her awesome Meg. And your #1...didn't expect her to be here but even back when I cared less about Swedish than I did later on, I always thought he voice was fun and sexy.

    • @FeliciaGoldfire
      @FeliciaGoldfire  Před 6 lety

      I never liked English Esmeralda, especially after growing up with Sharon. Suzanne is very different from the English version, and I think she did the character very differently than Barbara Luddy did. Helene is one of the voices that I remember most from my childhood, so I will never be able to be objective about her. I think Myrra's speaking works better for Meg, but her singing sounds better on Jasmine. I still like her singing as Meg, but her A whole new world is just so very princessy.

    @symphonyofsorcery7527 Před 6 lety

    So glad you could make it in the end! I totally agree with your last place, her acting is so fragile and not convincing at all. Birgitta and Sofía also disappointed me here, they sound underwhelming :/ I think the rest of the voices in the bottom prove that you can't 100% judge a speaking voice if you don't know the language because when I heard them I was like "hey their acting seems pretty good" but then I red your comments and realized that's probably not the case xD I like all the voices in your top 15 and your top 10 is pure gold. Also, the editing is so charming and original, but that's nothing new ;)

    • @FeliciaGoldfire
      @FeliciaGoldfire  Před 6 lety +1

      I'm happy it's up now, I've been working on it for so long :D And well, it's always easier to tell if acting is good or not if you speak the language because you can tell if the flow of words is good or if the intonation is off. But some swedes wouldn't agree with my last places, so it's a matter of how you perceive it as well. :)

    Stackars språkröster (totalt uppdiktat), jag blir ofta ledsen att se hur de ignoreras :/
    Jag tittade på Hercules och Aladdin (i detta ordning) på svenska för få veckor sedan för den första gången, och jag minns hur jag kunde inte känna Myrra igen som Jasmine O.o
    För Sissel, den första gången jag lyssnade på hennes svenska version, jag hade börjat precis med språket, men kunde utmärka klart sin uttal ändå...det skrämde mig lite XD
    Får jag citera dig om Elsa och Esmeralda? Frozen och HBoND är filmerna jag har tittat mest på svenska, och jag känner precis som du sa om Annika och Sharon.
    Oooj Lilo låter sååååå söt * ^ *
    Min åsikt är inte så fast, men jag tror jag är med de som säger Helene låter för platt (platt?).
    Nästa film i mitt list: Zootropolis ù.ù
    Sist men inte minst, Peter Pan låter utmärkt på den nyare dubbningen~

    This should be interesting! I've never heard anything from Black Cauldron before, and I suppose you're right, since Eilonwy is more like Alice or Wendy than a typical child, so she should have that hint of wisdom in her voice. I love Tatiana but she does sound mildly over-the-top in her acting. Amy sounds more whiny than angry in that clip. Nothing to say on Wendy but I like Peter's voice! I find it kinda funny that his voice had puberty before he decided to stop growing up. Oh Alice, I like her a lot, I find her very 'tough' compared to other Cinderellas which works so well in a unique way. Sissel...I'm at the point now where I can kinda hear the accent :O. Elsa's voice is very sexy but she sounds a lil stressed. I think I might like Kida's voice better in Swedish than English, as Cree Summer is actually a veeeery famous cartoon actress in North America that is more associated with silly, childish characters, and hard to take seriously on a princess character. Tatiana is the better singing Snow, but I agree Anna Lotta does a great job in her speaking bits! I get annoyed by how much Molly gasps...Wiktoria again much better in speaking than singing, I find her singing annoying unfortunately, but she sounds great, and I'll say the same to Divina because I find her singing unremarkable and along with Moana they're the only Swedish princesses I'm not crazy about for singing. I have to go to work RIGHT NOW so I'll watch your top 10 when I get home lol.

    • @FeliciaGoldfire
      @FeliciaGoldfire  Před 6 lety

      I've gotten two comments saying they like Peter's voice and that makes me happy because he's one of my favourite male speaking voices. Especially when compared to the original voice who's pretty horrible. I agree that Wiktoria and Divina are the least interesting Swedish singing voices, but they both did so much better in the speaking part.

    I feel like commenting. Aurora, never noticed Swedish speaking voice sounds like this. I agree, she's kinda flat with acting. I really like Myrra as Jasmine so I don't mind if the acting is not perfect. Amy Diamond, I think they used this celeb-card wrongly here, her voice doesn't really match Merida at all. She sounds too kiddish I think. Yea, even I hear Sissel isn't native Swedish speaker. Annika has same as Finnish Elsa, they sound nice for acting but the voice sounds very ordinary, and I somehow expected some majestic Snow Queen voice. It's hard for me to connect her. I really love Sofia's Belle but also here I find it bit hard to connect, probably because her voice sounds so "normal" while speaking, and I love the bit quirky speaking voices to Belle. Just watched Atlantis in Finnish and remembered how great Finnish Kida is - her voice is so weird, in good way. I see Swedish one fits well too but I loved the unique thing the Finnish woman brought. She sounds so mysterious. Anna-Lotta sounds good in her both roles. I really dislike both Sandens' in both roles in both singing and speaking. If I had to choose I prefer Molly a bit, Mimmi sounds pure annoying to me. What accent does Wiktoria have? Divina sounds very nice Mulan. Lilo sounds so cute xD

    • @FeliciaGoldfire
      @FeliciaGoldfire  Před 6 lety

      I haven't watched Sleeping Beauty in a long time, so when I started to make this ranking I was surprised by how flat Aurora was as well. I don't have very strong feelings about Jasmine as I didn't watch Aladdin a lot as a kid, so to me she's nothing special. Imo, Amy Diamond somehow seems like she would be a good choice, but she wasn't. In some scenes Sissel sounds very Swedish, but for the most part her accent is kind of annoying. I agree about Annika. She sounds like just another voice. I'll have to listen to Finnish Kida then :)
      I know a lot of people have problems with the Sandén sisters, but I've never had a problem with either of them. Idk exactly what accent Wiktoria has. She comes from the southwest, but it's not a very broad accent, it's just this slight hint of it that makes her speaking more interesting.

      And I agree that Myrra sounded better in her other roles, but I guess I love her singing so much in Aladdin that I don't mind little flaws there :D I don't really know what Jasmine should sound like, I'm not too fond with the English one and Finnish sounds wrong (I like her acting though)
