    Another excellent Saturday morning video. It was very interesting to see how the peas are sown and how the drills work. The next time we have Birds Eye peas we will wonder if they have been grown on your farm.
    The ground has changed a lot over the past few months, from waterlogged to dry and now dusty.

    After pea planting do you roll ground so stones etc aren’t sticking up for pea harvesting?

    • @JDautopower
      @JDautopower  Před měsícem +2

      Birds Eye don’t like you rolling it afterwards, although we do if the is a lot of stone or cloddy seedbeds. It makes the pre em spray work better as well.

    Look forward to seeing your video every week. How many acres on the estate or how many acres are ye farming.

    • @JDautopower
      @JDautopower  Před měsícem +1

      About 3000acres grass and arable, we crop about 2400 acres. There is also a lot of commercial woodland, not sure on the acreage.

    How does rtk work when you are spread over a large area as the pea drilling contractors are. Does the signal travel a long way?

    • @JDautopower
      @JDautopower  Před měsícem

      Basically the tractor dealers have there own base station receivers and with the use of the mobile phone network which is nationwide to triangulate the signal to provide a RTK network. These make it travel a long way. Hope this answers your question.

      The tractors have a SIM card in them.

    How many tons of peas do you get to the acre

    • @JDautopower
      @JDautopower  Před měsícem +1

      It obviously depends on the season, and where abouts in the drilling program you are, but let’s say 2t/acre, could be more or less. These peas are vined when they are tender for Birds Eye, so that reduces yield also, ie, they could grow on and put a higher yield on, but would be like bullets!

      if a vacancy did arise I've had 15 years experience working on an arable farm in the scunthorpe area also I've just been made redundant in my present job m
