I work for Hyundai, and I drive a BMW.......
The i30n performance is a great car, does a lot of things you'd like, brilliantly.
Having driven dozens of them, it also is tiring to drive as a daily, isn't that fast once you're used to it, and is definitely built to a price.
My 2017 BMW (M140i) doesn't have a LSD, doesn't pop & bang, isn't visually as exciting, but is a much better daily driver, better quality, more comfortable, and is faster in the real world.
They are different cars aimed at different people, both very good in their own segment.
Why should I be 'triggered' .... or are you just using that term because you thinks it's 'kool' and you're 'down with the kids' ?

I like the i30N, but that car and the M140i (for example) are aimed at completely different markets, and comparisons are a bit silly imo :-)

I wrote a very polite, and thoughtful, intelligent comment, based on personal experience of working for Hyundai at a main dealership, (and driving plenty of i30N's), and owning an M140i.

Cleaned it up ..... My pride and joy .... Super reliable ...... Gets me to work in the same time as one of these legally. I'm afraid I can't live in this world. Nice car.

Nice car bro 👌 my only argue is that air intake system sucking in hot air from engine bay and heat Soak 🔥. People don't understand removing that air box allows heat from the bottom to transfer to air filter especially when engine fan kicks on and heat from the top is already existing. There's no cold air from the top or bottom. I've been working on custom air intake system for over 20 year's now. I currently own a Elantra sport that I've managed to build my own air true Cold air intake system by not removing the bottom half of the air intake box which is good because is Shields some hot air from reaching the air filter for the bottom. Ive done some multiple temp test on my own car. Hyundai actually did a good job with the air box pulling cooler air from the front grill of the car directly in the air box. And when people take it off the cooler air just scatters in engine bay with no where to go. Then there's no heat shield to keep hot air from blowing on the air filter at the top of the engine bay. Trust me I already know because I have done temp test on that to. Do some temp test your self tell me what you come up with?. People don't understand just having fancy intake system doesn't mean its a CAI . Having a open air element filter minus the box allows for hot air and heat Soak to ruin you turbo over time just saying.... In my opinion and test that I've done having a closed air filter element is the best because traps the cooler air allowing for it to reach the turbocharger which keeps everything running cooler reducing knock and alot more. My engine bay temps where in the 130°F/ 150°F so that means the turbocharger was sucking the hot ass air in. It doesn't matter how much we spend on the kinds of systems from $50 to $1800 the will never make cold air the all consumer want so where being ripped off by the companies and some shops TRUTH. If you want want cold air then you have to make it. Which exactly what I'm working on for my Elantra sport a HYBRID CAI that makes cold air like the Dodge Demon utilizing its own ac system to feed the supercharger making some serious power from the Cold air. Now I haven't did what Dodge has done it's similar but stand alone type system. My system is completely insulated shielded from top to bottom so I don't worry about hot air or heat Soak it's also a closed element air filter system i fabricated my system to fit over oem air box so can still utilize the bottom half of the air box to still pull in cooler air from out side of engine. Which helps out my system Now I won't go into much detail about my system because it's still a secret and I'm currently seeking a patent for it but I posted a few videos of my temp test and I went from 130°F intake temps down to 60°F temps and I already know what people will say yeah right I can prove it. And any who reads this comment that don't believe me put money where your mouth is and let's have battle between your system and mines to see which one is colder. There would be alot of broke ass people out there plus getting butt hurt... Anyways I like your car dude 👊😎 look for me in the near future I coming out soon. IF you Can't find it on the Shelves the build it.

Fantastic car that does really tick most boxes. The reason why they're not popular is because of the price. You can get a Golf GTI for the same price. People will go for VW due to its brand.

Sure we all would love for Hyundai to have sent the I30N here in north America but we work with what we have. For you to refuse to acknowledge the veloster N is just plain ignorance on your part mate. Infact the veloster is a bit lighter and a bit more slippery. Its bad enough already having people hate on Hyundai but now people like you hate on the veloster N? You're just an ass.

Hey bud, this is my car. Yeah i was under the same impression, the standard turbo just isn't up to the job on these cars, its just a bottleneck in the system. There are hybrids available to take it up to 400bhp if wanted
@@danbushell8964 still nothing wrong with 300bhp. To be fair I have 300 in my Leon Cupra and I find it's plenty with FWD. I do love the I30Ns and I do love the noise they make, much nicer than anything from Merc/VAG etc

Hello, for the stage 3 are you going to change the cooler also because I heard there is a heat issue at high use. For the turbo, are you going to put a custom brand one or just prepair the oem one ? As the first N series of Hyundai there aren t a lot of tuning brands making performance stuff for this mark, even for the other models like i20.
For some non informed, Kia & Hyundai s TGDI motors deliver good torque when ECU chip tuned only, example an i20 1L TGDi OEM 120PS/170 Nm, Stock Real 116PS@182Nm => 144PS@237Nm, as 28Ps/55Nm gained.
This is just the 1L thus the 1.6, 1.7 and the 2.0 would be far more higher.

thats the injectors you hear because it's direct injection, open the bonnet of a Golf (petrol or even the GTI) and it sounds the same. My BMW with 6 cilinders has it too.
How is this "Stage 2"? It's some exhaust mods with a whiteline suspension kit.
Intake and tune is technical y stage 2. Stage one is just a tune, Stage 2 normaly also includes dump
Stage queens are pointless outside of your personal car owners circles because theure just made up as they go along for each different car. Just say what you've had done and the HP increase.

I had a i30N for about 11 months ended up selling it. The ride was far too harsh even when the suspension was set to normal and the jerkeyness from the gear changes used to drive me insane. Wasn’t a big fan of the interior either, I wished Hyundai would of made it a bit more exciting inside instead of everything just being grey and dull. Couldn’t go more than about half an hour without having to stop and get out the car because the seats were far too firm. On a positive note I too got about 42 mpg when I went on a long journey and had it set to eco.
I'm feeling the same way I made a huge mistake buying the veloster N performance pack. I don't mind the ride but the jerky shifts are annoying I've had plenty of fast cars and thought this would be ok daily driver but its just not enough it runs out of breath and feels like it has no turbo. I'm getting ready to sell it as well it's a shame but what a mistake.

Bryan, I work for Hyundai, and the i30n is a brilliant car at doing certain things.
But, for an everyday car, you have outlined it's failings.
There are much better daily drivers out there, while they might not give the same 'drama' as the i30n, or look as exciting, they will be faster and be much easier to live with.

any reliability issues with the massive increase in torque?
With the Forge Induction Kit system, how much power increase did you see to please? I'm thinking of getting one, but I want to try to get to 300bhp without remapping the engine ECU if I can (because I don't want to invalidate the 5 year warranty)
Intakes only add 10-15hp, if you don’t want to void your warranty get a piggyback. I’m rocking plugs, intake and a JB4 making around 320-335 hp to the crank.

Wait wut? Stock is 276hp, how can stage 2 only be 305hp? My stage 1 map on my Leon FR adds 41hp, stage 2 is at least 70-75 or so dyno'd which takes me up to stock levels of I30N...I'm sure this is not stage 2 especially seeing as RaceChip has a 320HP version consider stage 1.

I don't get it? There is barely any noticable torque steer. I had a 6 speed maxima Fwd now that had torque steer.
That is older and heavier car and there are different standards now, electric servo can feel so light that it would eliminate every feel of the road, it's up to a manufacturer how much feedback does he want driver to feel, thats why in sport and n mode feels bit heavier
@@themarenda well yeah it was a 03 with the vq 3.5 I'm just pointing out that thing had torque steer. Also had a supercharged gsr integra and it wasn't horrible but still I don't mind it. I guess it's just different for some people but wow like you said times have changed and the Type R and veloster N have virtually no torque steer in my opinion.

THIRTEEN ok I’ll go. 378nm on overboost. My car Dyno’d STOCK 400Nm so 500 isn’t that difficult to grasp if you know anything about tuning. Power is 271 stock so peak gain of 35ish.
