Nah, they were just average, you obviously watched their bio which hyped them up. Truth is if it weren't for the attractive asian girls in the band nobody would have noticed or remembered them. It's very generic rock, nothing special.
Nicky Barcley had such a powerful voice I love how tight the band was not even a single error in ther perfomance they played like a complete unity of pure rock of the best ❤
@@jwjeffrey depends on your definition of "a whole lot" and mine of "rare". There are about 20 different performances of the original lineup in varying quality floating around the tubes (half of them being from the two Beat-Club dates in '71 and '72). That's not that much.
It's a real privilege to see such a killer performance in such awesome quality, especially for a group as criminally underrated as Fanny. These uploads of y'all's are a gift to music history.
It is just a crying shame that Fanny did not become huge in the 1970's. I am just thankful I have all their albums (well CD's actually) that I still listen to this day. Now if I could only find some concert bootlegs...
They're actually selling a concert CD now on the official Fanny band site. I can't link to it here in the comments, because CZcams deletes comments with links now, but search for Fanny's site, and look for the live CD. They were great in the studio, but they always rocked much harder, and played together as a band better, in concert!
It's really cool to see women rocking it like this! I like the lead singer on this one. She's so gritty and looks like she's having fun! The guitarist is awesome, too!
They all could sing, every one of them had lead singing roles except for the drummer. This band is awsome but is little known. They REALLY rock as hell.
@@dr.s. I live in Brazil and here they were very little known. My generation never heard about them, and we had our share of female rockers and singers - if you could check out Os Mutantes, Rita Lee (recently deceased) and Elis Regina you will know the best known. Suzi Quattro was big here, but I only came across Fanny during the pandemic. Men have I ever thanked the Gods Of Rock for showing me that band. I showed them to my old friends and none of them knew them, not even the most nerdy!
@@cronistamundano8189 different background but similar story with them here. When they were atbleast kinda "big" I wasn't even existing and when I was old enough nobody talked about them. Also came across them recently (through a CZcams recommendation that popped up more than once). They must have been at least somewhat known here, the Beat-Club performances were shot here. Will check out your recommendations later.
Plays well today, 50 years later! Another perfect example proving out that the music from our past is still relevant & needs to be cherished! Living my best La Vida Loca here in southeastern Arizona
I grew up in the 60's and 70's but somehow missed this band. Discovered Fanny in just the last few months. What a fantastic band they were. All great singers and players.
Growing up in the 70s, we used to follow an all girls band called "The Fairer Sex." They were relation to us on my dad's side of the family. At the time, they were one of the best girl bands in the area. I can really appreciate the musical talent these girl have. Happy Thursday... thank you for sharing! 💖
Cannot understand how I have no memory of this band. This was telecast my senior year of high school. All we had was Top 40, no FM Rock then but only found out about them a few months ago.
I've said this many times before but I seldom like a cover better than the original, but once again Fanny does it with this song. The talent on that stage is mind blowing.
It's crazy how good they are. Pure, honest, powerful, musically accomplished. I bow in reverence and vow to build them an altar in the temple of humanity.
I am so happy to watch these wonderful musicians presently get their recognition in the present times. Always loved them and the music industry can go fuck itself for not headlighting these wonderful women.
Growing up in the 70s my interest in music was later in the decade and somehow I completely missed Fanny until very recently. They rocked! Studio albums are good but they really shined as a live band.
Am I the only one that thinks that this kind of performance it's enough to win inductment to the RnR hall of Fame? I know it's a little late now, and no one can give them back the succes they should have had, but it would be very very beautiful
Fanny rocked! I've heard some of the material that June released as a solo artist in the late 70's and early 80's, but sadly she wasn't really rocking anymore.
How great would it had been, if the right producer we’re hooked up with these guys… and portrayed the raw “live” talent they possessed!!?? Ted Templeman would’ve been the ticket!! …blast em out there with the energy of the first VH album.
Great!!! It's a real gem compared to the the music that is nowadays produced mostly digital. Good singers in former times needed no digital harmonization tools to get the voice in the the correct tune. Most of nowadays music is digitally faked. This video shows true music.
THE most underrated band in history. Not female history, but all Rock history.
Nah, they were just average, you obviously watched their bio which hyped them up. Truth is if it weren't for the attractive asian girls in the band nobody would have noticed or remembered them. It's very generic rock, nothing special.
@@greatunz67 What’s your idea of “special” rock?
rediscovered the band not too long ago, thanks to CZcams algorithm, and am not complaining, instead, very happy about it. ❤♨️💯💎🇨🇦 2:38
I’ve only discovered them recently and I’ve found their live stuff is outstanding, but recorded albums are not nearly as good, tame in comparison.
@@silentlou4375 Agree. Ironically, it's always the contrary, isn't it? Bands that sound amazing on albums, only to suck badly in reality.
I had never heard of Fanny until I recently read an article about them and I had never heard them until now. Holy smokes! They rock!
Nicky Barcley had such a powerful voice I love how tight the band was not even a single error in ther perfomance they played like a complete unity of pure rock of the best ❤
Everyone should know about this band!!! They flipping rock 🎸🎸🎸
So rare to see footage of these ladies. Such an incredible band.
There's a whole lot of stuff right here on You Tube, just type in the words Band Fanny

Thanks for the kind words
I had forgotten about this group until I saw this pop up. They were victims of silly record company ideas about girl groups. Thanks for the memory.
June Millington's Les Paul mangling is 70s inspirational.
June’s guitar always sounds great ❤.
Severely underrated.
I love how there's this Fanny resurgence recently. They're solid!
Such a great band, 70s Rock perfection!

@@christianman73 Thanks for the information!!
@@tedharrington5432 You're welcome! Always happy to help out another Fanny fan!
Love the little ad lib where she adds "Jack" to the line "I saw the Wolfman" - nice nod to the host, delivered with a sly little smile!
This song let loose!
If I could travel back in time to see just one band perform live at their peak, it’d be Fanny.
Guitar licks sound so like Joe Walsh. Amazing how good these ladies were and no one remembers them. They were so ahead of their time.
They crushed it!
I was reminded more of Tony Iommi.
Please more of Fanny❤❤❤❤

wow, I've only ever seen their album covers in record shops, this is amazing!
Glad you like it!

Always great to hear Fanny live! Nicky's smokin hot vocals and June's awesome slide work are forever epic!
And yes I have ALL their albums on vinyl!👍
same here - but live they were even better than on record imo

Glad to see that Fanny is finally getting the attention they deserve! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Criminally overlooked - the Mighty Fanny

Underrated and not talked about enough. Thanks for this Midnight Special! June is one of my favorite guitarists.
He!! yeah. One of the best. Full stop.
this might be my new favorite by them, absolutely stunning
Raw talent, no twirking or being half naked.
Feels real because it is real.
Awesome. I was never a big fan, but I do see the talent, and I can appreciate them much more now that I'm older.
So much power! So unappreciated!
These ladies mean BUSINESS.
Well...how the hell have i went my whole life buried in 60's and 70's music and never heard of these women before???????
Nicky's voice has some Janice Joplin in it. Good stuff.
I´d say Joplin has Barclay in her...
Nicky is was also a superb keyboard/ piano/organ player, vocalist , writer, and all round musician👍
Never saw this before. Awesome!
They are great. First time for some of us too.
@@themidnightspecialtvshow Hope there's more in the can.
Fantastic!👍👍👍

EXCELENTE BANDA!!!!!
As soon as I finish this time machine I'm building, I'm going back to '73 to marry June! 😃😍❤️
Good luck with that 😅
Better make a big one and sell tickets! I'm buying!!!

Wow, awesome song and performance.
Wow first time hearing of this band and I AM HOOKED
check out Beside Myself from Mothers Pride - it's a composition worthy of The Beatles :)
If you haven't already, check out thier live Beat Club performances (also available on youtube). They were a phenomenal live band.

Fil Henley from Wings of Pegasus did an interview with June on his channel.
The melody is very reminiscent of In A Broken Dream by Python Lee Jackson.

well this freakin' rips! thank you! release it all !
Metal gals ,historical
They seem oddly subdued here. They're much more dynamic in their Beat Club appearances just a year earlier.
