----------------------------------------------------
Sheepdog
Standing in the rain
Bullfrog
Doing it again
Some kind of happiness is measured out in miles
What makes you think you're something special when you smile?
Child-like
No one understands
Jack knife
In your sweaty hands
Some kind of innocence is measured out in years
You don't know what it's like to listen to your fears
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
If you're lonely you can talk to me
Hedgehog
Living in the sand
Leapfrog
Giving him a hand
Some kind of attitude is measured out inside
You think you're going but you haven't got a ride
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
You can tal to me
If you're lonely you can talk to me
Big man
Walking in the park
Wigwam
Frightened of the dark
Some kind of solitude is measured out in you
You think you know me but you haven't got a clue
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
If you're lonely you can talk to me
Wahoo woof! Woof!
Hey bulldog! Hey bulldog!
Hey bulldog! Hey bulldog!
Hey man, what's that boy?
Woof!
What do you say?
I said "woof!"
You know anymore?
Wooaah ha ha ha!
You've got it, that's it, you had it!
That's it, man, woo!
That's it! You've got it!
Don't look at me man, I only have ten children
Ah ho! Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Quiet boy, quiet!
Okay
Quiet!
Hey bulldog!
Hey bulldog!

Fanny was an American all-female band, active in the early 1970s. They were one of the first notable rock groups to be made up entirely of women, the third to sign with a major label (after Goldie & the Gingerbreads and the Pleasure Seekers), and the first to release an album on a major label (in 1970). They achieved two top 40 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and released five albums.
Sisters June Millington (born April 14, 1948, Manila, Philippines) and Jean Millington (born May 25, 1949, Manila, Philippines) moved with their family from the Philippines to Sacramento, California in 1961. In high school they formed an all-girl band called the Svelts with June on guitar, Jean on bass, Addie Lee on guitar, and Brie Brandt on drums. Brandt was later replaced by Alice de Buhr (born September 4, 1949, Mason City, Iowa). When the Svelts disbanded, de Buhr and Lee formed another all-female group called Wild Honey. The Millington sisters later joined this band, which played Motown covers and eventually moved to Los Angeles.
In January 1970, Nickey Barcley was asked to join Fanny as a singer and keyboardist. She was one of the main songwriters and lead singers in the group, and appeared on all their albums, adding soul, blues and funk influences to the group's overall sound. - Hudba
This band was not a gimmick. They were superb musicians.
its a cover song bro
@@skyscrapersx5877 Yes. And your point is?
why would they be a gimmick?
@@user-en6tz3iy1z In the context of the time it was unusual to have all-women bands who played instruments as well as singing. (Even single female instrumentalists in otherwise all-male bands, such as Honey Lantree of The Honeycombs or Megan Davies of The Applejacks were considered novelties.) There would have been a kind of irrational prejudice against it among many people.
I am nearly 64 and I remember the climate of those times.
@@user-en6tz3iy1z The Monkees started out as one, but later became a real band.
For the benefit of others, June Millington, guitar, Jean Millington bass, Nicky Barclay, keyboards, Alice de Buhr, percussion

Real deal right here. Never got the full recognition they deserved.
Not one weak spot in that lineup, extremely talented musicians!

@Mellissa Boomer of the Night
Here's another all female RnR band from the same time: czcams.com/video/sn1Z4dMDbx0/video.html
That is quite gnarly.
That is amazing to hear. To have the founders be these mixed-race women. Double whammy obstacles : racism and sexism and yet they ROCKED. I want to hear more!
@@redvelvetvixen
Fanny has 5 CDs at their website.
@@redvelvetvixen
Racism and sexism? Maybe from inside the music industry, but all my stoner, white boy friends loved them because they rocked hard. Nobody gave a sht about their gender or ethnicity. Saw them open for Mountain and went the next day and bought their album. Then saw them 2 more times, afterwards.
Whenever there was a party Fanny was right in the stack with ELP, Hendrix, Stones, Beatles, Zeppelin, Who, Spooky Tooth, James Gang, J. Geils, etc. We had a nine LP turntable. When they were done we'd just flip them over.
What a fricking band . Probably the best live performance iv ever seen . This whole Session is a bomb track 🤯
I remember hearing of them, but I never actually heard their music. My loss, they rock!
Really, really tough band. And not to forget: BEAT-CLUB recordings in those days were absolutely live. No overdubs, no playbacks, no pitch correction.
True that but still BC won't allow Fanny to issue a CD of their OWN performance.
You do know auto-tune mics have been around a very long time, right? Once a person hears his/her voice from the speakers pitch gets even closer to 12TET, so it can be difficult to hear if any auto-tune is enabled.
@@TotalDec 1971?
@@TotalDec Lol, there was no pitch correction (especially not in real time) in the 1970s, this is ALL analog.
Somebody’s in the wrong century 😂
A rare cover that I prefer to the original. Fantastic piano work. Props to all.
Lucky enough to hear these rockers play live at the 1971 Chippewa Lake Park ballroom [since long ago burned down] in Medina OH sponsored by some Detroit FM station. Alice Cooper failed to show but these girls made it so you didn't care. [And the just kickin' in windowpane tuned them up a lot. Hey, after all, it was, and I suppose still is: O on each side and high in the middle.]
Yes, Virginia, the 70's were everything your mother and father warned you against: freedom.

Can't believe I haven't heard this before. Absolutely badass.
This was my thought exactly. They were so far ahead of their time it's insane. So sick!
@@miameramusic Umm, this is a cover of a very famous Beatles song. It's good cover, but chill with the 'ahead of their time', lol
Came to the comments to say the same. How in the 50 years since that performance have I never heard it or heard of them. I fear that brave name may not have helped.
great musicianship esp the lead guitar but the keys player is a bit overpowering like they sound a bit off even though they have great voices and female harmonies sound better in general(well except the beatles and crosbey, still, nasshyoung ,the eagles but these three are exceptions and exceptional, still fantastic groove and with the right direction they could have really gotten off more than they did..like the first riff is so cool and unexpected from a hey bulldog cover :))

Amazing tone!
Looks like she added a master volume pot on the pickguard. Brilliant idea, actually.
I love this guitar sound. Can anyone tell which amp she's using. Some kind of small Fender by the looks of it.
Duuude so good
Their choice of covering one of the Beatles best songs, while putting their own distinctive stamp on it, makes this group one of those bands needing much more exposure. Well worth anyone's time watching.
Maybe it was too soon to cover bulldog. I for one was still not over the beatles breakup. Wasn't ready for a cover.
@@meandmymonkey5137 oh you weren’t huh…just admit it, you don’t like this True Cover
It’s a pretty straightforward cover
Blazer......
@Stephen Beck-von-Peccoz they weren't musical geniuses is a point that I would grant you. I also wished that they had produced more original material. But they deserve more credit than they received. Think about the rock world when they were playing. I can't think of any other groups which were all women. They weren't taken seriously by many because of their gender, and always fighting that battle is hard work. With more support they might have been able to develop their sound and skills.
Alice is simply a fantastic drummer.
Such a brilliant cover
My first experience of Fanny and I can't say I'm disappointed!
was that meant to be as rude as it sounds?
@@eddisstreethuh? Is this because fanny is British slang for vagina? I think the original comment was just straightforward and genuine. Regardless, this was my first experience of the group too, and wow that was impressive.
@@benjerman4438 I do know what the word means - I was not sure whether the statement was meant as a joke or if it was just a bad choice of words
Didn't come across as either to me. If they can't say they're disappointed then they ARE saying they thought it was rather good, which is objectively true, this band rocked!

Watched this once and then again and again. At the age of nearly 57 it's great to be still be discovering new gems, no matter how long it's been around. When I find solid legacy music, I do wonder what happened to the artist/s and where are they now and often a trip over to Wiki opens up a whole new world of interest.
Don’t forget……girl bands in the early 70’s really didn’t get the credit they deserved……these girls were just a little ahead of their time

Now can we all agree there is some level of sexism in the music industry?
I have seen dozens of docs on obscure bands from the seventies, and books.
I am 56, and never, ever heard of Fanny.
And they are obviously really good, and can play whatever they want.
Obviously people did hear of and hear "Fanny" in their day. They were afforded many airplays, media appearances, promotions and articles. They sold large numbers of records, but not as many as eg.: "The Beatles" who originated "Hey Bulldog".
IMHO: "Sexism" is a powerful word, best not scattered about without due context.
there is a 2021 documentary "Fanny: The Right to Rock"
Not sure their band name would go down too well in britain
They were quite well known in their day, played together for six years, had two top 40 hits and recorded five albums which received favorable and often glowing reviews from major rock critics. The last few years they've been getting a lot of attention because of general interest in the era. This is a cool version of Hey Bulldog. I was around then and playing music professionally in the States. Among my peers, both women and men, they were considered to be a solid rock band that did a mix of covers and originals. I never sensed any sexism in the press or elsewhere in regard to Fanny.
No, we can’t. For a start, this was 50 years ago, the musicianship is at best adequate, and they’re doing a cover of a pretty forgettable Beatles song. What else did they do? And let’s not forget that Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Queen were also doing the rounds at this time, against which this band look like rank amateurs.
What a f**kin kick ass version. Absolute respect

The guitarist and bass player have both been ill. The bass player, Jean, had a stroke a couple of years ago, and the guitarist, June, has cancer and is getting chemo. But a reunited Fanny is still making appearances, sometimes playing live at screenings of the new film that was made about them.
@@LifeIsaTrain It seems that June started a go fundme on behalf of her sister Jean. They already reached their goal, but it feels kinda strange. These girls are kinda legendary.
