"Fanny" are back baby...long live the 70s!!😎👍
Fanny are indeed Devine!👍👍
god blesh,Jean Millington!!😎
Alice STILL killing that beat! YES!!
Love Alice's style of drumming .. inserts FLAMS here-and-there like I used to decades ago.
Gell WELL, Jean!
Ahhh, is so good seeing this ladies still rocking!!👏👏👏. I wish them nothing but the best!
I only learned about Fanny recently when a preview of the BBC film appeared on my Facebook feed and I now bloody love them. I nearly burst into tears when the film got to Jean's stroke so I'm so glad to see her on-stage here
I love this.
Three days ago I stumbled across an old video of the them performing “Hey, Bulldog.” I liked it immediately but realized after I’d listened to it a couple more times that I actually liked it more than the Beatles’ original version. It’s been in my head ever since.
This performance was great to see. Love ‘em.
Same but two days ago ,one of the better fab 4 songs and I think they did it better
Same here
BETTER
Ditto 🙂
I'm 75 & British and grew up during the Beatles & Stone's and have been listening to Fanny for around 50 year's and NEVER KNEW the beatles wrote this song ! I've never heard the Beatles version and have no wish to. 1/. after nearly 50 year's it wouldn't "sound right" sung by men. 2/. I'm a Stone's fan and don't own a single beatles song..... ANGRY. {Haven't they made another comeback ?
"Meninas" pioneiras!!! Orgulho para o rock mundial!!
Miss that great pianist
over 50 years on and still rock'n. Go Fanny!! 🎶🎸😎
El mejor grupo femenino de la historia del rock...
❤❤💋💋🎶🎶
You’re killing me, what a long relationship we have had. I can still remember sitting on the edge of my bed staring at your album, 1972, high school. Thanks for sticking with me all these years!
That's a beautiful, brilliant story to share. Keep rockin', girl! 🙌😄
Holy crap, my 4 year old loves their original video on the blue screen.
Good to see they are still at it. I loved them in the 1970's.
I saw Fanny in Rockford Illinois 1973 warm up Todd Rundgren. Their onstage energy was incredible! I remember June had an amazing Flametop LesPaul, Jean had that old Fender P Bass! Great Show
It's been a long time ladies ... Thank you, then and now!🥰
Awesome to see Jean back on stage!
totally. Just my thoughts.
I miss her playing bass!
Still sounding great. Iam writing to the hall of morons in Cleveland, and DEMAND that FANNY be inducted. Like NOWWWWWWW
Wait...Fanny isn't in the Hall of Fame?
@@sweetpottoo no. Have never been nominated
Not talented enough sadly
@@stevesleg i disagree, but even if that was the case, if The Moody Blues can get in, i think Fanny deserves a spot.
@@dirty_deeds3523 We’ll agree to disagree
One of my favorite Beatles songs … great cover, Fanny! ❤️🎶☮️
That's too bad. I thought this was an original by them.
Superb! As so is established that they are a great band, they are, in addition an excepcional group of human beings ! God bless them!
Это просто волшебно, если смотреть после лайв их же в молодости
I heard their studio version of Hey bulldog but always wanted to hear them playing it live. They are great 🎉❤
Fany grupo legendario, felicidades saludos desde México
Fanny!!! Wow...this is Great!!! So glad to them again after all these years. They always did have the very best cover of The Beatles, "Hey Bulldog". Their 1971 video is on CZcams...and they were simply MAGNIFICIENT. So very good to see them still at it...
Any updates on the sisters health. Wishing them well. They really are so gifted. 💚🎸
This is like going back to the 60s again in 2023. They look well for ladies in their 70s. Keep on rockin' !!!
I was not aware that Jean Millington was confined to a wheelchair. She still has the voice though.
Thanks for commenting, muffs. It's true. The Millingtons, and the collective sisterhood which has coalesced around them over the years, still rocks!
Due to a severe stroke in 2018, Jean has been unable to play bass (a huge loss for us all), but her spirit remains strong and she continues to work with a physical therapist with a determination which would put most of us to shame.
She can (with assistance) stand for a short time and even walk a few steps, but it requires a degree of effort which would make it untenable on stage for an entire set. But as you can see, she is still a hell of a presence up there.
Ever since the stroke June has ramrodded a GoFundMe page to help with the huge costs for her PT, other non-covered medical expenses, and any needed support.
In addition to more detail about her condition and progress, June has posted up a wealth of historic material and photos (including a number by famed rock photojournalist and long time member of the extended Fanny sisterhood Linda Wolf). The site is worth a visit whether or not you're in a position to donate.
I hope CZcams will allow me to post this link: gofund.me/1cdf0f1e
If it doesn't stick I'll figure out some other way to pass along the info (or, of course, you can search for Jean Millington on the GoFundMe site).
@@beachdog67 It is so sad that the record company is what broke this group up by wanting them to be somebody that they were not (the rock star image thing) I don't blame Jean and Alice for leaving the group. "Charity Ball" should have been top 20 at least. My first year of high school, great memory.
Alice beats very well! She'e great as the others Fanny girls
It is fantastic how the band have all pulled together. Former replacement getting guitarists getting involved. Both drummers taking it in turns and having mutual respect for each other. More importantly performing like this must be so good to help June rehabilitate from clearly a nasty stroke which stopped her amazing bass work, but not her singing. Power to June and the rest of the band from Wales.
It is Jean recovering from the stroke, not June.
Jean, not June.
Yes Jean... wonder if their mom and dad deliberately tried to confuse us! Totally in agreement with what you've said though. This band is clearly a big happy family, with just one black sheep who I don't doubt is really loved just the same.
RESPECT ! These are GODS OF ROCK ! Forget sex, their albums are equally as good as the best of the best and better than the rest !
They are NOT gods they're just entertainers! Get a grip!
Yesssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was not sure how long I can play the bass. Now I can say 'till I die', after seeing this.
I'm 67 born at a young age in 1956 during Beatlemania and was assigned Ringo in the neighborhood.
Assigned Ringo please explain… you were barely 8 years old for Beatlemania.
Love it! Rock on, Fanny!
Right on. That was great. Good to see you rockin.
Jean is such a great bassist when she laid down the instrument it took two twentysomethings to pick it up.
Did she have another stroke now that she's in a wheelchair?
Allez les filles !
Bravo de France !
Thanks for uplaoding this.I was to young for The Midnight Special. Its a shame the larger world missed em as well. But, Recognition is better late than never. I'm so happy to see they are getting theirs. They deserve it!
I'm giving my age away but I was 12 when I saw Fanny on the Sonny and Cher Show. This Young Boy raised by a Single Mom found out that Girls can ROCK! It lead to becoming a Fan of The Runaways, Heart, Suzi Quarto, Vixen, Doro of Warlock and more.
Yay Alice! Glad to see you back!
Still rocking!
This is f'ing great.
What a privilege to witness ❤
LOVE UP ! BIG !
Jean still going fantastic and Alice behind!
How great is this! I thought these girls were so cool. Both records had these interesting and dare I say sexy girls on the covers. Hey, I was like 12 years old! Don't hate me. I consider myself a feminist so perhaps they helped instill this in me . But, alas, I also really dug the music. Thank you Charity Ball!!! Really Thrilled To See and Hear This!!! Love to Fanny.
Best Beatles cover!
❤MAD RESPECT ❤
Rock on team ❤❤❤
Excellent!!
OMG, Legends ! Keep going ! xx
S-E-N-S-A-C-I-O-N-A-L!!!
Rock on ladies!
Thank you. Peace
My favorite songs
These gals rip it up. Way to go, ladiez!!
Keep rocking, kababayan.
So great! I just recently saw the PBS documentary. Hey Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Dolly Parton is a fantastic artist, but she isn't rock. Fanny is the Alpha, the Genesis, the Chapter 1 Verse 1 of Female Rock. Get them in NOW
Nicely done!! Thank you!
WOW!!!!
I picked up the 1978 LP Millington for a buck in a used record store here in San Diego around 1995 - burned it to CD and have been playing it ever since! Just watched the older Fanny doing Hey Bulldog - cool! Didn't listen to Fanny way back but got 2 of their Lp's same store around 95
Yikes god bless ‘em
I prefer to picture them in circa 1972… but damn, they rock it still
Bless
🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
wheres the keyboard player, she held the band together
👏👏🌹🌹😍
Everyone but Nicky.....:( bummer. Does anyone know if she's still alive? Would've loved to see her in a reunion as well.
That guy who you could hear laughing sure sounded like KEVIN EUBANKS of The Tonight Show Band with Jay Leno
Does anyone know June's rig set up? I know she used to always play Gibson ES-335s in a Fender Twin, I believe? What pedals. In the Beat Club sessions, she has an amazing hot sound! Just curious.
I think most of her tone is in her hands.
Haven't been following them like I should, but can anyone tell me what happened to their keyboard player ???
What was the GoFundMe URL?
Rock the hell out. At that age ?? Woow. Wish I had a grnma like that ?? Haa
Did they do Butter Boy?
Just as the Beatles approved Fanny's version back in '72, I reckon that Ringo and Paul would enjoy this. In fact, I'm convinced that George and John, Ringo and Paul would be absolutely thrilled that these girls are back together, and performing with this sing in their live set.
Doesn't matter that it's lo-fi. Doesn't matter that there's a lot of grey hair on stage. It's bloody brilliant that Fanny is doing their thing again. All power to them. 🙌
Rock on, girls! 🤘🎸
P.S. I have plenty of grey hair myself, and am only 15-20 yrs younger than they. Never heard of the band 'til middle of last year (being Strayan), but stoked to belatedly learn about their background, and hear them now. 😊
When are you performing next?! I’m sad that I missed this
If you're in California I understand June is doing a solo gig in mid-December in Santa Rosa - benefit for the ongoing GoFundMe that supports Jean's ongoing PT and other medical expenses. I'll post details here as soon as they are available.
Time is cruel.
Not so much, really.
It's too bad Nickey Barclay didn't perform with them.
Yes, that's true...
Oh, gee. They were better in 1971. We all get old, don't we?
Fy

Two bass players?
Why 2 bass players ?
Lee Madeloni (the fella upstage right) is Jean's son (she, of course, was Fanny's bass player and way ahead of her time musically but since her stroke has not regained enough dexterity in her hands to be able to play out; we hold hope). He's an exceptionally gifted musician (bass and drums) as well as a talented studio engineer, producer, and more. He's well familiar with the entire Fanny music book, having grown up in the thick of it. He handled the bass playing duties for much of the evening.
Mia Huggs (stage left) is a graduate of the Institute for the Musical Arts (ima.org/) in Goshen, MA, owned and operated by June Millington and Ann Hackler with the express purpose of giving girls and young women the sort of "leg up" into the music business that was not available when Fanny was busting through sexist glass ceilings in the 1960s and '70s.
She held the pocket ably on a number of tunes and there were one or two such as this when she and Lee shared rhythm section duties.
Worth noting that over the course of the evening several Fanny alumnae rotated in and out; multiple guitarists and both drummers from the "glory days."
It really was a special night.
Ni la sombra.
Why 2 bass players? These guys are good but their recording is much better than this LIVE performance. What happened to the Piano player?
🤦♂️ This live performance is a little less sharp than the studio version _possibly_ because they're in their friggin' 70s!!
You might have also noticed that Jean is in a wheelchair!?
Age _happens._
Health problems _happen._
Bands from 4 or 5 decades ago, usually don't have a chance to reform and front up on stage.
Fanny has done a very good job, to gather themselves, find their creative joy and sisterhood, and get on stage again.
All power to them, I say!
Absolutely Just Fabulous, Awesome
Primet grupo profesional femenino de Rock, luego vinieron Las Runaway.......
A shadow of what they were but still love it. I was only 11 years old but I realised they were obviously a gay statement but well overdue statement none the less !
Well, thanks for sharing your thoughts. A couple things though.
1. I was at this show and can tell you they most assuredly are NOT "a shadow of what they were." Are they in their 20s? Obviously not, but these women still kick ass, take numbers, and (along with their audience) have a damned good time.
2. "Gay statement?" Huh?
I saw them live in UK (Plymouth) on their '73 tour, I was 15. They were never a "gay statement", whatever that actually is, then or now. They were a great band, tight and full of power.
@@beachdog67 I'm only responding to your #1 (yup, 2's a "Huh?" for me too)
I wish I was at that show, as they still sound great for my 70 year old ears! So wonderful to see & hear June, Jean, Alice & company rocking to Bulldog. Thanks so much for posting this! Cheers from Canada
@@beachdog67 Fanny, in their own words were judged as a 'gay' female band. Indeed they disbanded because of being stereotyped and not being taken seriously. When I said "I realised they were obviously a gay statement" I didn't mean anything but the perception of their rock and roll was a statement of a female all rock Band. Make what you will of what I said and your interpretations. However, as much as you prefer nostalgia, this is a Band in their twilight years, hence the wheel chair. Forgive me if I offended you.
Thanks ☺💖
still better than the beatless
love smile dream
This band needs work. Somebody's guitar out of tune lady in wheelchair has great voice. She knows what she's doing. Good job
Watch the same ladies sing this song live from way back to 1971
Not a show band anymore, sad.
There were several hundred of us in the room that night who would disagree with your assessment, but thanks for sharing.
Fanny's musicianship was fine, but their vocals were always lacking and they had no stage presence. They should have gotten a lead singer and practiced being in synch with the harmonies. Sorry.
Always a negative comment from the diaper section.
@@Robbnok Like your channel - Nothing there.
Good, good, good,
Still got the grit that only women have!
Greytest.
Sound quality is Horrible !
Thanks for noticing that. Maybe you missed this note in the description:
