    I keep a toaster oven in my shop. Bake cases at 350 for 15 mins and bearings usually drop in. Heat bearing and the slide on, like the pinion gear. Always keep some tools nearby to "drive it home" of necessary. Also, a bit of water based wire lubricant on the outer rim of the seals helps them to slide in and it evaporates. Great tip on the box tubing tool!!

    Where you heated the rear end case I was taught to put the bearings in the cooler or refrigerator for a while to shrink it where as you heated the rear to expand it

      Been contemplating this fix for a while because I seem to have develop a leak at my rear output shaft (hopefully from the diff side) and may want to rebuild diff while at it.
      In any case to remove that bearing a old millwright trick you can use is small scrap of linen covered in thick grease. Put those scrap in the bearing ID hole and use a press with a blank peice of round stock as close to the id hole size as possible. The grease will work itself under the bearing slowly push it out. Keep adding linen with grease until its out.
      If you want to go full redneck bread can also work. ( great trick for getting beer cases from friends with bearing issues)
      Now for driving it home I would avoid differential heating and would go the oven route if possible.
      There also pdf version of a Honda repair manual floating online for these bike in that you can get the size of the bearing pushing pressing tools you need. Then if you have access to lathe or machinist friend you can make you own. These are better and safer. I made my pushed with a small pilot hole so that they can all be used with an extension that i made ( can also be used with a hammer if in an emergency) If they are machined properly they should pilot onto the bearing and only push on the outer race of the bearing( never press the inner race of a bearing unless you want to pre fuck it and replace it often)..
      Apologies for long winded awnser

    Question about the zerk fitting. Are you going to absolutely FILL it with grease after you put the gear oil in? Like a bushing? you mentioned that you were going to fill the case with grease, but you also mentioned about making a slurry.

    • @PowerModzOfficial
      @PowerModzOfficial  Před 5 lety

      I put some gear Lube in and then topped it with grease - I wanted to make sure the gear lube hit all the bearings.

      @@PowerModzOfficial interesting. Obviously speed is not an issue, but getting up 10, 12, 15mph.. how much resistance will that be? as things warm up and expand, as it goes up to the vent tube, will it introduce air and froth?
