Thanks for the how to video Tim. I've changed the outer bearings on both my rancher and the foreman. Never done a axel swap but I think the rear ends going out on my yamaha big bear 2wd. Looks fairly similar.
I was not able to get the new axle in far enough to properly mount the brake drum. I used a block of wood and a hammer and managed to hammer it in a bit farther but still not good enough. I laid the axles next to each other and they look 100% identical. Any ideas on why it wouldn't go?
@@middlecrossranch3977 there's a small cone washer in the axle tube...it has to be with the big end facing the left side but inside the axle tube and past the diff. I'm by my phone... so comment your number and I'll call you and you delete your number as soon as I do and I will talk you through it
@@SomeDamnfoolsAtv there was something wrong with the axle I had ordered on Amazon. I went the the local Honda dealership and bought one. The fit was very snug, but it worked!
Mine moves as well and it also leaks out of the differential on that same side. Not sure how it got loose with those giant nuts. I think it needs to be tight so that it seals up the differential.
That is definitely not the right way to tighten the inner nut. It’s funny how in part 1 you say don’t tear stuff apart if you don’t know what you’re doing. I watched this video to try to figure out the torque specs for the double nuts. Refer to Partzilla’s video on this section for the proper procedure. Inner nut is only 29 ft lbs. it doesn’t hold your axle in, just holds the drum on. You’ll wear the dust seal out real quick and load up the bearing by cranking on the inner nut like you did with a pipe wrench. The outter nut is 94 ft lbs and is only there to keep the inner nut from backing off since it’s a very low torque.
Me and my friend were out on the quads today an hour after i got home he texted me the police are at my house they asked did you see anybody on two red quads he said no lol there looking four us
Great video only thing I done different was Heat…
Informative, gonna be trying this when parts come in bent an axle and housing hope it goes as smooth
Good luck with the repair brother!!!

The small washer on the right side goes after the big washer, then your flange nut
I think I would be building a socket for those babies. Have it for next time. Lol
Right!!!👍👍
omg i love this guy rock on brother
Thanks for watching my friend! Please watch my newer videos for more dumb shit🤣
Well I'll be damned, there is a guy out there that cusses and burps while he works on his shit just like me, my wife don't know nothing.
Hell yeah 😎
Hell yeah we all do sometimes but I don’t have a wife
Should I add some grease to me rear axle before installing it?
First one good video
Thanks

Hey man where did you get that stretch?
Any of the big name Honda guys build and sell with extended driveshaft 230-250.00 usually
How often do u have to replace axles and diffs on that bike
Every few years
Does the sleeve on left side need to move or should it be tight. Hopefully you see this
It should be tight. Sorry I didn't see this earlier

Did you forget one of the washers?
Maybe stupid questions, but did you have to drain the diff fluid ?
No
Rear diff is sealed independently, it's not a bad idea to do it while you're there
Thanks.
Nice how to vids!!
Too bad this was not shot in canada, could have legally smoked a loaded cigarette, eh" while filming😊
Yes...would be kinda cool to participate in a"legal cigarette" whilst hammering on her shaggin wagon😜
the lock nuts on axle use a 30MM open end wrench, if u have one available
I definitely didn't... but thank you for the comment...it will help someone do it correctly!👍💪🤝
@@SomeDamnfoolsAtv I have to put new bearings in my rancher. I see u pulled it out from the right side
Yessir! I'm getting ready to replace my rear axle and hubs.... waiting for them to come in now!
Where can I find that rear differential extension piece
Sorry I just saw this comment. Don Oglesby on facebook sells the rear stretch kits complete with driveshaft

I do not think that baby washer goes on first.
Probably not... after all it was my dumb ass working on it!🤣🤣🤣 I appreciate you watching and for the comment!
Would you happen to know we’re a could find a axel for a recon 250
Ebay?
What if I can't get spacer off that's between chunk and locker nut
Damnit!!! Now i know what you mean! Two pipe wreches and pb blaster. Get them to spin before trying to slide off. A torch helps to heat spacer.
