shit, i think you were more than kind giving him a second chance after his first incident of installing an oil filter sans rubber, one really has to be distracted or just dont care to overlook that. A a "double rubber" incident is easier to forgive, i did that as a teenager at my first job at a shop and all these years later i still go through my verification process with each and every filter. Almost a dozen quarts of brand new synthetic oil being jettisoned onto the shop floor and catching all the other guy's shit for it can be a great teacher lol

Old cats like that had a hydraulic oil dipstick inside the screw on fill cap. Just like the fuel systems, it’s a dipstick that’s bent over at a 90 and it slides into a slot that’s just wide enough for the stick.

Sorry for all my comments dying your wonderful video, have got lots of spare NEW O Ring gaskets with my filters. I always keep them in my spare gasket area in shop. I would get like four different types of filter gaskets plus a extra top housing one. Those extra gaskets came in handy for exactly this issue you have with a no show.

I was a truck mechanic for many years, retired now. I actually never opened up a new filter and the rubber gasket wasn't there. All mechanics should check for a rubber gasket prior to installation and lubricate it, also check that old filter to see that its gasket is there and not still stuck to the filter housing. I agree with letting him go, it's too bad it didn't work out for him.

That would be a great farm machine. Clean low hours and easy to repair . No def no computers just a good machine. As far as the filters the first thing I was taught was be sure to remove the old gasket if it is stuck and make sure there is a gasket on the new one. Can't believe the guy did it repeatedly. Every shop needs a "Kevin". Make the day go by faster.

I have asked myself way before if working big equipment isn't easier than small equipment.. With big equipment, you use a tool to lift a cylinder as for a little one will lots of times get man handled. The stuff to fix is bigger and doesn't move as easy... torque settings are a lot higher but again its a tool to do it with.... Nice work Clint.... more, more.. yes I like it/lol

There is no reason to not have that gasket on the filter from factory.Once again employees don’t take pride in their work. Can’t even imagine how many people installed filters with out the gasket not being on the filter.Especially do it yourselfers that don’t realize there is supposed to be one there. This was another great video.

I know there are grease fittings on that machine..... Why didn't you check and service them to ?? The fittings may have to be replaced to if they aren't taking any grease..... I would expect you to that as I do on my own equipment.... An ounce of grease can save you and everyone else money in expensive parts.... Just add another 200 dollars to the price of the equipment when you sell it to recover your cost.... Love all your videos as I do Dirt Perfect.... Dirt Perfect is where I learned about you guys.... Your awesome.... I live in North Carolina and will be out to see you guys in early April.... Hang in there and have a Happy New Year... ..

Yes Napa filters are made by Wix and I personally only use Cat, Wix (Napa), Baldwin, Luberfiner filters. I refuse to use Fram and other cheap filters to just save a buck. I have yet to run into a filter without a gasket yet. I've never seen one of those separator canisters without a filter, generally they're a slightly bigger micron to catch most of the garbage before the secondary filter.

Servicing videos like this always interest me, I like seeing that a machine is well cared for and maintained properly.
Re those NAPA filters with missing O Rings,.. just another reason why these should be inspected before installation, now it would be wise to open the box right there at the dealer's counter
or in front of the person delivering them to you, right? ( of course NAPA would like to know this too ) You mentioned that WIX made these filters for NAPA, yes, I heard that too from a
NAPA District Manager, and is why my first choice in filters is WIX then NAPA. Just goes to show ya that nothing's perfect!

Thank you for being a shop that gets those Military heavy Equipment, the LOW hours on machine. This machine could have been used in Military life for training new guys or gals only. The tracks or so large on traction sprockets, great sign ( wear item) the filter change by them great sign ( it just sat ) no use after filter change so your filter change for me is like getting new life. The seals on tilt cylinder for front blade could only be from sitting rot, seal goes bad from no use. People might look at those Government surplus as junk, you show otherwise. I will say from my experience on a JD 450-C Dozer. This is just a FYI for all watchers of your video series. Someone had done what I call a Alaska overhaul. They spray painted it real good. We had it running and then it would starve for FUEL.
It was the over spray that got on screen just under fuel neck on top of tank. The screen got plugged up with new yellow Paint. All we had to do was clean it good, it FIXED run issues. After 3 changes of fuel pump( what we thought was problem) just FYI, if the equipment is repainted always check those important fuel pressure intake areas for paint over spray. That's my story on engine running ruff, starving for fuel.
If a person doesn't care about the OD colors after you go through those Military rigs. A person is buying a great piece of equipment in my Humble opinion. Wish I lived closer to you, so you could go through my collection of old big iron that I have. You do such a great job of explaining and redoing servicing this equipment with lots of working life in them. Like I said if a person can live with the OD colors. Who cares if it's dark green, as long as it can get the Dirt moved, that for them the most important thing for a person who wants to try and make a few Dollars with there dirt moving company.
