  • Garrett sent his shocks down to Shock Therapy in Arizona to get the full ride improvement system. The shocks are on and adjustments have been made. It's time for Garrett and Dave to join a few subscribers in their stock KRX's. They will get the chance to drive their rigs and Garrett's back to back and will give you their thoughts on the Shock Therapy treatment for the KRX.

    Nice review, it was good to hear the comments from the drivers of the stock machines. I have shock therapy springs on my RZR 4 seat and they made a huge improvement. I put some shock therapy springs on my RS1 and it was a another huge improvement. But I decided to go all the way and take it to shock therapy and get the performance valving done to it. I also put Walker Evans sway bar shock links on all four corners. I use it for trail riding here in Arizona so I want it to be extremely plush for going through streams and rocky trails. after listening to the comments of your drivers on the stock Kawasaki's I can't wait to get the shocks revalved.

    Great stuff, stuff. Still haven't pulled the trigger but I've narrowed it down to the KRX and a Pro XP. Not as weird of a list as it may seem on the surface, the XP has almost as much utility as the KRX and a bunch more power. Just need to decide if I really need the extra power vs. the strong want factor. Just have to say goodbye to the Mustang GT and the Street Glide for the garage space and cash.

    I purchased a KRX in December, the springs sagged after just a couple hundred miles so I put Shock Therapy Springs on it. Big difference, I have an appointment with them to get their RIS for the shocks, Also scheduled a IQS install. I just wish I knew somebody who had installed it on a Kawasaki to do a review on it. Cost a lot but I think it's worth it to have that adjustment on your dash for soft, medium and firm.

I thought maybe the stock springs were a little more plush, so they re-valved it, and he put new springs on it. He said the new springs will be more plush than the old springs that was on it.

      LOL. You have it backwards. Kawasaki got it so right that ST makes it untouchable. It is by far the best OEM suspension, and is truly tuneable by suspension experts. The better it is to start with, the better it can be when dialed in.

    • @patd4u2
      @patd4u2 Před 4 lety +3

      The manufacturers have to follow strict guidelines by the department of transportation to pass the rollover test, so they have to make the suspension firm to get by the regulations, nothing they can do about it. Also they have to make the spring rates and valving a Compromise to suit a 120 pound driver to a 350 pound driver. Nobody can make the suspension perfect stock. shock therapy tunes the suspension for your riding style how much weight is on your machine and how much you weigh and how many riders you might have in your car. As you can see from this review when they tune the suspension for you it is absolutely fantastic.

      @denisleblanc4506 Před 4 lety +1

      @@patd4u2 In this clip they were adjusting shocks and from my understanding the spring preload could also be adjusted on the stock setup. The manufacturer has to choose the components to suit a wide variety of conditions and loads that it recommends. Granted in the video they didn't play around with spring tension on the stock vehicle and they used only two settings for both stock and modified suspensions. Maybe a setting of 6 on stock would be similar to 3 on modified. But my understanding from the opinions of the riders there was a notable difference between the two. Its possible anyone could prefer the stock suspension for their load and driving style. Maybe Kawasaki preferred a setup that is more suitable for slow very rough riding. But with all the adjustability in both spring preload and shock valving you would think would cover the widest variations stock. These machines are expensive enough that you would think the stock suspension would good enough without resorting to the after market. We're not talking desert racers here they seemed like your ordinary riders.

    I'm looking at trying to get a few more inches of ground clearance out of my krx. I was wondering if u knew anything about the lift links that t rex racing is selling. I called them and talked to them about how more clearance they would give u and they said about 3 inches. So I'm guessing that u might end up with about 1and a half to 2 full inches after it corrects the spring sag. Do u feel that is to much for the factory axles or do u think u would have to upgrade them. We do almost all of our riding here in Montana witch basically is all rock climbing to get back into the mountain lakes

    • @DerangedOffRoad
      @DerangedOffRoad  Před 3 lety

      I would not go with that lift setup personally. The main reason the springs will just continue to sag and you will lose all of it over time. Out of the few people that I know with them they said the ride is not better as well. Axles should be fine either way as well. The best thing to do is install new springs at least to get ride height back. 👍 -Garrett
