    So basically if you want a RZR, but don't want it to catch fire or live in a service department, go with the KRX. If you want an MX bike with a steering wheel go with the YXZ. If you want the smoothest, most refined all-rounder that lasts forever, go with the Talon.

    I ride woods and high speed rough terrain and I own a 17 yxz se stick. I ride with all cvt machines and everyone always wants to ride shotgun in my rig. Grabbing gears and high rpm slides really makes you feel like ken block in a crazy rally car. Such a drivers machine! I like the stiffer shocks on my yxz, great handling and predictable, easy to slide the ass out without crazy body roll. And it can handle some huge ditch jumps without bottoming... Yamaha really made these yxz's for people looking for an adrenaline rush!

    I have lots of miles on my 2019 YXZ SS SE, the suspension will soften up after about 300 to 500 miles. Mine is very plush now, and it hits the ruts and whoops with ease -- some adjusting of the clickers goes a long ways as well. My suspension is 100% stock.

Also you won’t find a better stock tire/wheel combo on the market. The only major downside to the krx is the price because it is so new. I can get a talon r for almost $3000 cheaper.

    I have owned two YXZ's, I cannot get enough of it. I drove a KRX in Moab a few months back for several hours. My first SXS was a Teryx T4, so I have to try the KRX. Overall, I was disappointed. The cab was hot, there were squeaks and rattles, the quality fit and finish was lacking compared to Yamaha, and it did not handle near as well as my 2019 YXZ SS SE. After I was done riding, my body hurt which tells me the suspension may have more wheel travel, but I could feel the bumps for sure. I do have 32's on my YXZ, but the rest is stock and the ride is much much better than the KRX. I had the KRX clickers set on the softest settings, too. The KRX is a rock crawler, but In Utah you need a good all around machine desert, dunes, rocks, mountains, etc. I will keep my YXZ. The fun factor is off the charts!

My friend has the KRX 4-seater with the cool (don't know the name) shift on the fly shock settings. Super smooth and plush, yes.... But like you, I actually LOVE my YXZ more. @@cyaw11 Buy the Can-Am!!! Trust me when I tell you that out of ALL the machines out there, it just seems to be much more thought out and ergonomically comfortable!!! Buy a 72" XRS RR model. 194HP which is BONKERS, and you get the best suspension with the longest travel in the industry!!! The MAJOR selling point though is just the reliability of their drivetrains.... Regardless of anyone's opinion, the Rotax motors are HANDS DOWN the BEST motors in the sidexside/ATV world!!! That's why Aprilia, BMW (F and G series), Buell and KTM ALL use BRPs (Can-Ams) Rotax engines. They know how to build a motor that is EXTREMELY reliable even when they are super high strung and revving to 15k+ RPM and still lasting for 100k miles with nothing more than basic maintenance. So when its only revving to 8k RPM, the durability is just insane!!! They also have the most comfortable cabins for 2 and 4 seaters. Their center console divides the driver and passengers so that when your cornering hard, the passenger is not being leaned and slung into the drivers area. Plus their low gear for crawling and mud saves the belt better than any other company. Essentially they are the BEST in the business in EVERY category. Sure Polaris has their super cool electronically controlled suspension. But the shocks that come on these things now a days are so damn good you shouldn't need to adjust it. Just make sure that you call Fox and have them help you tune the shocks to your riding style. Because out of the box they are set up terribly lol. I REALLY REALLY wish Can-Am would get back into the motorcycle game. For the short time they produced dirt bikes, they were easily the best bikes on the market. And Im sure if they dove into the dirt bike market again, they would be the kings once again!!!

    Finally the video I have been searching for!! I’m trying so hard to decide which machine I want to buy for riding exclusively in central WV. As another reply stated, I love the honesty you put into your videos. I subscribed months ago when I first began my search to your channel, and I have been waiting for this video. Your conclusion of the YXZ being your choice for east coast riding was not what I wanted to hear, but came as no surprise. I have always been a Honda or Kawasaki man and want either to be a top choice. However, leaving my wishes out of it, I am going to go with the best machine. In all my research I am beginning to see a trend developing. The Honda has nice fit and finish, but seems to just be what you’d expect from the manufacturer; a strong but conservative choice. The Kawasaki is beefy and well built, but big and slower. The YXZ is adequately built, but simply more fun to drive than the other two. Is this a fair assessment? It would have been nice to also see the Polaris XP1000 and the Can Am Maverick Sport X XC included in this comparison. I would love to hear where you feel those two machines fall into the ranking for WV type trail riding. I need to be wowed, but also not have it fall apart the first time I bang something. Scott Moss well dont get polaris or can am if you want your machine to last more than 5 years. If u dont care and u want to buy a machine every 5 years buy one of them. The thrill of shifting with the yamaha will wear off very fast. The cvt is by far the best transmisson for off roading but it takes attention to detail to run one and not have it break on you. In my opinion i would choose the honda. It takes a lil to get used to slow speed its very jerky and if tbis guy is saying the yamaha is worst than honda for jerky it would be way way to much for me. I have a kawsaki bruteforce and a krx. I also have a honda pioneer and a rubicon. I would choose the honda just because i know it will be reliable and last 20 years if you change oils once a year and wash the machine and keep it in a garage. My bruteforce is ten years old and it still runs good but u cant beat honda. My second choice would be the krx. I like the 3 cylinder on yamaha and hope kawi and honda put one in a quad soon or in their sxs but that will never happen. We are stuck with parallel twins i love my bruteforce vtwin i wish the krx did a turbo 1000 vtwin i would buy it in a second

The Talon is great For spraying fences being able to select what gear you’re in is very nice For spraying I usually keep it in first gear low range I have added a second battery so if I need that extra reserve capacity Running the electric sprayer I have it

    I own a 2017 YXZ SS. I have to say, I drive the thing with perma-grin !! I have the GTYR gear reduction, so my top end is down to 70mph, but the seat of the pants feeling at lower speeds than that is unreal. That rear end breaks loose on a hard downshift and drifts like a Rally car. Plus, the gear reduction gives me the rock crawling chops I want (here in Arizona). Truth be told, I wish I had some more technologically advanced shocks on the thing (because I'm lazy and want to adjust on the fly), but the shocks are easy enough to change, tailoring the ride. Down the line (far down the line), when I look to upgrade, I admit I'll look at everything out there and compare it to my budget. That being said, my top contender is a YXZ, though next time, I'd buy the aftermarket CRAWLBOX. Gives me the two-speed transfer case, so I have the best of both worlds. Despite the features that lag behind the other models, the rider experience is second to none. You truly have to drive one to understand it. I'm also the kind of guy that likes things that not everyone else has. The YXZ has a dedicated following, but it's certainly not what most go for. For me, it was the price, bang for the buck, and then I was (more than) pleasantly surprised at how much I really love this machine !! Ride safe, everybody and thanx for reading, if you made it this far.

    You have a glaring omission in your review: the Yamaha has NO LOW RANGE. This is a deal killer for many of us. I'm frankly surprised that you did not cover this aspect, which is most important in technical trail and rock-crawling. Furthermore, the Yamaha power curve only really delivers when you've got your foot in it with high revs. Given these two deficiencies, and the fact that your bias is generally toward trail riding, I am shocked that you would pick the Yamaha over the other two.
    Don't get me wrong. I think the YXZ is a cool machine. I just don't think its "raw" fun-factor makes up for its deficiencies. Too each their own.

      @stellarpod Před 4 lety +7

      @@drjhunter, you'll get no argument from me regarding the attributes of a true gear-on-gear transmission over belt drive. But, that leaves the Honda and its DCT as the viable alternative. Nonetheless, a "real transmission" does not negate the possibility of a "real transmission" with a "real" low-range - you know, like EVERY other serious off-road vehicle on the planet has (including the Honda). Couple that with an engine that doesn't give the power until you rev it high and it makes you wonder what Yamaha was thinking? Clearly, they were thinking more along the lines of a desert machine running high speed at high revs. And that's ok if that's what you do. But, by Stephen's own admission, he rides trails - not desert. The Honda Talon is hands-down the superior machine to the Yamaha in that arena in my opinion.
