- I feel like there are a few overlooked attributes of the TLX which don’t get enough attention and may actually help people decide if the TLX is the car for them.

I absolutely love my 2018 TLX 4 cyl. Much better car than my 2015 TLX.
I have a 2015 and love it, so you definitely think the 2018 is much better than the 2015?
It’s a big improvement. Glad you’re happy with it
Hey Nathan, what tires would you recommend to keep on a 2.4 for best handling and performance?
Lando CalrisiaN sorry for the late reply. I’d say that the 17” wheels on the 2.4 have tires fitted with a higher sidewall to make up for the smaller diameter wheel. It makes for a smoother ride but not as good for going around turns.
For that, I’d recommend upgrading the wheels and inch or so and having a lower profile tire. You could also just get the standard size tire with grippier rubber but I don’t know the best option for that. Check out some reviews to see good feedback from people who have used them.
All of these choices might have a cost that could outweigh the benefits. At the least, when it’s time for new tires, just look for the one with best reviews.
I like the look of this car. Is this the base model? Do all base models have AWS? How does the audio sound? I have a 2013 ilx and was hoping the audio would be a upgrade
Generally the bigger cars have better equipment with Honda/Acura. I think TLX Base sound system would be an upgrade to the ILX Base.
AWS is standard on all FWD TLXs at the time of this video. I don’t think it has changed since then but it has been redesigned now.
Hello, I heard the driving dynamics on this is better than base V-6. Your thoughts?
Thanks for the question! The FWD TLXs both have P-AWS which makes them handle well. They also have reactive dampers and other things like that. The fact that the 2.4 is lighter and has a dual clutch makes it a better driver’s car in my opinion. The V6 is heavier but it offers more power and a smoother acceleration that you just don’t get in a 4 cylinder. But I care more about the driving dynamic than the proposed comfort/niceness offered by the V6. If driving is what you care about more - and you can go without some of the premium options exclusive to the V6, then I’d say the 2.4 is the way to go. And the 8-speed DCT from the 2.4 is a superior transmission as well.
Note, the street name is on dashboard, I love that feature, I recently test drove 2019 RDX, salesman didn’t know if it had that feature.
MsKaretto funny it’ll even say “ramp” when getting on highway
I like that a lot too
Is the Base 2.4L TLX cabin significantly quieter inside than the 2018 Accord ? Also which car drives better..and why ?
Not sure if anyone gives a shit but if you're bored like me atm then you can watch all of the latest movies on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my girlfriend during the lockdown =)
@Blaze Owen Definitely, been watching on instaflixxer for months myself :)
Hi Nathan - thanks for the review! How well do the base leatherette seats hold up in summers? I just bought an 18 TLX base model and live in Texas.
I live in the DC area which has hot humid summers and it held up well. Didn’t see many issues with older ones traded in either
My dad has a 2015 tlx 2.4 its quick it has the all wheel steer and dual clutch he got it up to 120 in just sport.hasnt whent over 100 sport + yet
Marvin McClendon yes it is nice isn’t it? Smooth and quick acceleration is great
Wow that rpm gauge looks like a watch ticking with that dual clutch!
T AN right!? I love that transmission
Man, slow as hell..
Nathan Adams Cars yeah I am definately looking to go from my 2010 tsx to the 2018 tlx. Best bang for the buck car.
VIDEOSUPERHIGHWAY I agree!
Wish this transmission was used in more honda/acura products
I really think Acura should've put the eight dual clutch transmission in there V6 models
Eric Nguyen I agree! It would’ve been nice. I think they were limited on its torque capability and they want to stay as reliable as possible. They played it safe.
I’m kind of glad they source transmission from Europe. Honda/Acura is notorious for transmission that do not last long. They have great engine though. So this is a perfect combination.
I love my moms dual clutch and caster steer. Holy shit it’s fun.
Never Fall I loved my TLX. It’s a fun car with those two features
@@NathanAdamsCars I know you can throw it around corners very well;) I like how much caster steer helps when you are going in a slight back with a dip and it bites really hard and the car finesses the corner, legendary system.
@@NathanAdamsCars slight bank*
@@NathanAdamsCars not to mention the pull that 3rd brings on exit, oof, bout 4k rpm, rally car.
Never Fall right!? It’s honestly a fun car. It’s a shame P-AWS isn’t marketed better by Acura. It’s a big benefit
I made this video to highlight some of the things Acura did with the new TLX which haven’t gotten enough attention.
Couple things I forgot to mention:
-2018 comes STANDARD with Collision mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assist amongst a lot of other awesome features like Brake Hold.
-The 8-speed DCT was the first to use a torque converter as well - and it WORKS.
Almost every other brand interest rate is currently 0% to 1.99 for a 2018. Acura 4.79. Completely out of touch with reality. 😂 Gonna be selling 18’s in 2021 with 20k off.
Bobby Dukes oh really? Yeah I’d go with my own bank for sure in that case.
Depends on a lot of factors. Their website has a lot of great interest rates for my area. Now if you're in Podunk Arkanslaw, it may be a different story.
Dave R excuse me, I’m from Podunk County, in Bunny Borough.
