The $179 Gear 2 is available in 3 colors and 2 sizes and it has a heart rate monitor, GPS, step counter, stair counter, sleep monitor and 4 gigs of internal storage for music and apps. It runs Samsung’s Tizen OS and it works with any Android phone running OS 4.4 KitKat or newer. It works in conjunction with the Gear2 and S Health apps on the phone. It’s IP68 water resistant, and it has a vibrate motor, Bluetooth 4.2 and WiFi. The AMOLED 1.5” display is colorful and bright enough for outdoor use. - Věda a technologie

Excellent review. Very helpful. Mine should arrive tomorrow in blue. Your review is the only one I found that shows the plug. Others just show the usb cable. I have a Galaxy S7 awesome phone. Also waiting for the free VR included with the S7. It took me days to research & finally decide. But there's simply way too many pluses not to buy this. My favourite is it will automatically track activity & I wanted a quality screen. And it's got just about everything I want. Thanks

Hi lisa I understand that you dont usually review fitness trackers but you should talk about the precision of the hr monitor which is the most compelling thing about wrist hr monitors.

I saw one the day of release and thought it was pretty good value. It does what I need for less than a Vivoactive HR or an Apple Watch. Shame it won't work with my 6S Plus but will work with my Note 4.
How does your watchband work? Does it quietly unlatch from the watch causing this to be shed from your wrist to drive sales when someone else finds it, uses it for a little while until it once again, falls off their wrist. They should have put stiffer springs on the latches of the band.

If I have set a schedule in the s health (one if the workout plans for running, called First try at 10K)
And I go out for a run today, I usually open s health, click on record today's workout, and then start... Can I use this watch to record the workout?
Also during that workout it often says I need to jog for x time, then change back to brisk walk (it says that through the phone speakers)
Would that work with gear fit 2?(obviously would need headphones)

our Samsung Galaxy note 5 has action memo under s memo... which we also use as off screen memo... they can also be used as s memo reminders too...so CAN WE USE IT WITH GEAR FIT 2 AND SEE THEM AS WE SAW YOU TUBE NOTIFICATION....HOW much CAN WE interact with such notification or for that matter with any notification
hey! I am totally unable to figure out how to delete music from gear fit 2. Adding was through app can't find delete option
how did you get that last alarm app on the band?
questions, I left my phone (note 5) at home, went out to dinner where they had free WiFi. my fit2 linked to it and began receiving notifications on my Fit 2 from my phone. have you heard of this?
you say removable band. Could you put the band on "backwards" to accommodate a left hander?
Is it possible to track your runs with Strava or Runtastic?
I would have really liked to see some commentary on the mandatory use of cloud services, for example: can I keep all my personal fitness data local to the device and/or phone or must that data be sent to Samsung, can I use the device without the S-health app, what data harvesting can I opt out of. I think that and device that relies completely and/or enforces the use of on a cloud service should be commented on in a review. After all we're talking about personal medical information here, it's pretty important.
Very nice review!! I see that you downloaded the alarm clock, how did you like that app?
I'm a light sleeper, so it works well enough to wake me. Heavy sleepers might not notice the vibrate on the wrist.

Hi , did you notice that the hr monitor doesnt affect the burned calories in traning mode ?
Means for example :
watch mode cycling :
Sitting on couch average pulse 60 bpm for 10 min means 100 kcal.
Same mode but running - average pulse 140 bpm for 10 min - SAME Calories !
Do you know if samsung wanted this to be so or if its a bug , which is adressed soon ?

Had most EVERY fitness tracker and still have my favorite-Garmin vívofit 2 Activity Tracker as my value unit-Love my Garmin Vivoactive Black (also cheaper) for serious. The sleep tracers on both is WAY nicer than this.
I am glad it has ability to pick up you are on an exercise bike. how does it know?

hey there something seem to be wrong with gear fit 2. The Cal burnt count appears to be v high always. 2500 steps 1100 Cal! Also every morning before I wear it the Cal count is already 500+ without even wearing it. Is there something I have not set right or not understanding correctly. The step count also seems mis matched. I just used for two days. And not taken in water.
Hello I have a question. Does this watch works without an intelligent phone? I mean, would I be able to transfert the datas to my computer without having a phone?

My wrist is 7", which is in-between according to Samsung band sizes, but the small size fits much better.

How good is the continuous HR monitoring? How frequently does it take a reading and is it accurate enough?
10 minutes at rest, every minute when exercising. It's been quite accurate for me. It doesn't always get a reading for activities that involve a lot of jumping around like tennis and even the rowing machine. Great for running and biking though.

the heart rate is spotty i needed something that kept track all day if you dont it may not bother you. often it couldnt keep up with me i have postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome so my heartrare can get pretty high. and it didnt always get text messages:-(
With the Gear Fit 2, I know that you can switch bands, but can you switch it with a 22mm Band(like the Gear 2), or the proprietary bands(Like the Gear Fit 1)?

Can you send an sms message from this? (but then again how would it connect to the Internet when you're out running right? And it obviously doesn't have Sim card so I guess you won't get any notifications when you're out running without any free WiFi around...right?

I can't find what's the exact weight of the Gear Fit 2. How much lighter is it in comparison with Apple Watch Stainless Steel with the Black Sport Band (100g total)?

There is no video there to show how text mesages show or whatsapp or this sort of notifications, are there any options to reply ? how does the text look etc . Most reviews focus so much of the fitness capability but forget is a smart watch too . Would love a video about that .
You can't reply from the watch, you can only view messages for apps like Whatsapp.
u actually can reply from the band. it first shows its own recommended response (which is quite accurate) or u can set presets. text is clear and very easy to read as well

Does the heart rate monitor work well while running?
yes, it also matches with how fast you are running (running faster correlates with a higher heart rate) gives an awesome chart.

About the 2 biggest complaints I would have coming from the first Gear Fit is the inability for it to display horizontally. Who wants to lose a feature when upgrading? additionally I'm left handed too and to not be able to turn the screen upside down for the right wrist is a horrible gaff by Samsung! I may change my mind but for now this is a deal breaker.

Small battery so it's pretty quick- less than an hour.

This does not come with a wall charger, just the proprietary charger.
There is a charger in the box. Our retail US unit came with one.
That's very interesting...mine just had the USB cable attached to the permanent charging stand with no wall block included.
Is that the S7 phone she has? a lot of the Samsung phones look alike

Hi recently got the Gear Fit 2 a couple days ago. Been having an issue hopefully someone can help with. When I go out of range with my Gear Fit 2 and the Bluetooth disconnects from my Galaxy S7 it does not automatically reconnect when I'm back in range. I have to go to the Gear app and reconnect it to my phone. Any one have this issue? Didn't have this issue with my Garmin It would automatically reconnect to my phone. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

In my experience S Health is not that useful because while I'm in a car it counts the vibrations as steps. Also if I shake my phone it will also count those as steps. Anyone have a similar experience?
+Ramir Duria so if I buy a gear device will those small vibrations interfere with the count on the watch or will all step counts automatically default to the watch as long as it's connected to my phone?
I haven't had the car misinterpreted by the Samsung Galaxy S7 (nor Gear Fit 2). Shaking the phone certainly might confuse it into thinking you're walking.
