Stop picking on him. He doesn't actually mean that he's A WEIGHTLIFTER, he means that he's more into weightlifting at the gym, just like there are people who're more into running/threadmilling. He's basically categorising himself as a strenuous exercise guy rather than an aerobic/cardio guy.
4 years later, I'm still admiring this video cause I still own and use a Gear Fit2.

No matter what workout you doing because you can leave the heart rate monitor turned on full time, if you want.
I have been using it for about ten days and so far I'm loving it. It helps me keep going forward.

MiracleWarriors i want to buy yhis for my gf but it is absolutely necessary this thing can track heartrate while doing weightlifting or crossfit. he says that when in this option, the heart monitor does not work. thats a big disappointment if thats true. is there another option that can still tell you if you are in the zone or not?
I'm really looking for something that will nag me, and track swimming as well as running (not to mention calorie intake), but I think it looks great as a watch.

hey! can we use it as a basic workout tracker...
I never found one of these fitness trackers necessary for a workout, don't get me wrong I love wearables as much as the next person (I even have a Moto 360 Gen 2) but I just don't see the point. you can go to the gym and workout till you either run out of time or are too exhausted to go on any longer or just completed your training schedule and that will keep you in shape just fine.

I've had the first gear fit since last October and am pretty satisfied with it as a means of dealing with notifications and dismissing alarms and phone calls. you may not be able to set an alarm on the Gear Fit but when your alarm goes off from the phone it does vibrate on the watch and even allows you to hit the snooze or dismiss straight from the watch. Hopefully that hasn't changed.
@ 6.05 you talk about the alarm feed back. there is on and I love it. It wakes me peacefully instead of the buzzer on the phone. check it out. while in the home screen press the home button you quickly find a bunch of options witch u didn't cover.
Does this connect with third-party apps?
does it also vibrate when there's phone call or sms or any notifications coming from our phone device?
how do you compare this to the fitbit charge 2?
how does it match up to fitbit in what it can track??
Are there any fitness trackers that aside having an optical sensor somehow can be paired to a chest strap (in case of HIIT / Weight lifting) ?
If you have money, Fenix5 from Garmin. Also just came out Vivoactive3 and Vivosport (Vivosport can not be used with additional external hr strap). Then there is Suunto spartan trainer, Polar has A300 (no gps, no built in hr) m400 (no built in hr) and m430.
The best external non chest hr strap is the scosche rhythm.
Garmin = Garmin connect, Polar = polarflow, and Suunto uses suunto movescount.
Everything I mentioned besides the vivosport can be used with a chest strap or the scosche rhythm.
Does a bluetooth earphone can directly connect to the gearfit or thru phone?
I need tracker for running. Im getting better and s health on my phone is not accurate i think and not enough anymore. Could you please advise and help my pick one? Thank you
Is it worth getting if you mainly cycle? I need something that pairs with my Samsung phone & I'm able to track my heart rate as I cycle.

Does this receive turn by turn direction while using Google Maps on a phone?
I was actually quite excited about this since I use S Health anyway... but no vibrating alarm is a huge deal breaker, especially since the fit 2 is taking your sleep anyway.
Maybe they'll add it in a future update?
Yeah I'm sure they'll add in a physical vibrator through a software update...

4. Can you set recurring alarms for certain days of the week like weekdays etc?
5. Oh and does it work independent to the phone?
Sorry for so many questions, but this will decide whether or not this can replace my Pebble Time, but there isn't much information on the alarm app online

I can't see how a "tech reviewer" can't figure out to go to the app store and download the alarm clock app... Bad information.
Answers: it only vibrates, there is no speaker. The vibration is very strong. You can set recurring alarms. I have owned many fitness bands and smart watches, but I enjoy wearing this the most. I'm still going to give it to my mom and keep wearing my Gear S2, but I'd tell anyone to buy it.
My only issue is that with GPS and music playing, I am only getting maybe 2-3 hours of battery. I have to do a full test to get an exact number.
There are many cheap ones one eBay right now as people who got them free with the note 7 are selling them.

i don't think u can install apps. just serves the main purpose i.e fitness n phone notifications.

Chaitanya Khare I use mine with my bike. No problems so far. The gps works well and it clearly show me the route I've done after I finish with other info. No need to take phone out.

TomTom does music spark3 etc. but it's not the best as far as fitness watches go. But it's pretty reasonably priced compared to Suunto/Garmin.

I bought the s7 edge and they offered me a choice of... Netflix for a year. a 256 gig memory card (some size like that) or the gear fit 2. I picked the fit 2. never had a desire for one, but shit... if its free I'll try it

My Gear GPS works only whn it is in the vicinity of my phone with Phone's GPS turned on. The moment u turn Phone GPS off or u go away frm ur phone, Gear's GPS also turns off. Its so annoying

Not having any tracking for other types of fitness activities (other than cardio-based ones), is a letdown. I wanted to replace my bargain bin first gen Gear Fit too, any suggestions for alternatives? Tried looking around, there isn't much that doesn't have similar limitations. And I still want to continue using the S Health app.

TheZaman1983 24 hour battery (2 days if you turn most of the features off), iffy sensors & an ecosystem nobody seems to support? Nah.
***** MS Band is not running Windôws bro.. You have too much prejudice. MS Band 2 can be connected to Android or IOS devices and it has more sensor than Gear Fit 2. Nobody ask you to buy Windows based phones. Why does you buy first gen Gear Fit then? it does not run Android. Both MS Band 1/2 and 1st gen Gear Fit run proprietary OS. Gear Fit 2 run Tizen though. It has even lower apps support.
TheZaman1983 I know the Microsoft Band 2 is multi platform, but the features are too limited for my use (ie the battery). I bought the Gear Fit because it was on clearance & I have a Samsung phone. You've not convinced me to buy an MS Band, and neither do the reviews I've read about it.
