Your point about foreign students is well met. In England 20 years ago-the Universities visited `top high schools` in Asia to try to recruit students.
We have a small "opera house" in my city where Daniels comes every year. It is primarily a volunteer thing where a bunch of old ladies come and volunteer for various jobs. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone to volunteer when Daniels is there because he is such a jerk to everyone. He has had like 1 movie anyone cares about and thinks he is Marlon Brando.

No the foreigners do not bring in the majority of money for colleges. Harvards income is only 4% from tuition the rest come from their gigantic tax free wealth management funds. Ron Unz is trying to get them to stop charging tuition at all since it does not make economic sense and filters out best and brightest for rich people who want status instead of knowledge. Right now many Tesla drivers drive recklessly. They weave in and out of traffic too fast. They are not people who would use self driving features that would drive slowly.
Not in my neck of the woods. Teslas drivers are annoyingly slow drivers.

Your take on Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber was spot on. He was out of his wheelhouse through the whole movie. I remember watching it thinking... he's not even remotely believable as a comedic actor.
Self driving isn't as good as you think it is, Tesla has hampered their self driving system by stopping LIDAR integration. Dirt, snow or rain on the sensor greatly reduces the performance and makes the car see things that aren't there, LIDAR would help fix that issue. Using regular cars as robotaxis will never work except in rich areas with no crime. If 'terries' can use a car to drive to a spot to deliver a 'boom' package without having to be at the wheel, attacks will become much easier, especially in Elon's tiny tunnels. You can see how bad things are in Ukraine with small drones dropping small booms, a much larger boom can be carried by a Cybertruck that would happily carry a "package" for you for $20 to the destination you choose. Plus, a drunk woman sitting on the back seat will now have a private place to relieve herself without anyone noticing or shooting up in safety, Teslas will be called "mobile toilets" soon enough.

Scott is correct about the almost daily reporting on "battery breakthroughs" but he is being superficial because those articles are poorly done and the "battery breakthroughs"are not practical. The WSJ did an article to examine the ten of thousands of such search hits on "battery breakthroughs" and found that there is no there, there. The electric industry has been reporting "battery breakthroughs" since Edison, when he predicted @1910 that electric cars would soon dominate. The WSJ found there are no actual practical commercially viable "battery breakthroughs", that the best that be said is that there are incremental improvements in existing tech. and btw, Scott should examine why "green energy" makes the grid more delicate, unreliable and expensive and why the utilities do not want to buy the intermittent power that solar panels and windmills deliver - because it raises their costs and the price of electricity for most of their customers. CA and Germany are prime examples of what not to do w/ electricity.

Car insurance: this is what I realized a couple of years ago. Self driving cars will have fsr fewer accidents than human driven cars so their insurance rates will be much lower . This will force people to go to self driving cars because insurance will be cheaper. Driving yourself might be ridiculously expensive for insurance. I didn’t think though that Tesla could go into the car insurance business. I bet Elon has already thought of that. It will be called “ X car insurance”.
