The bug to crash the game with bonemeal was fixed in 1.16 but the ghost portals will be kept and when you find a way to crash the game you can still make them (if you play in single-player just close the game without saving works).
Warning: Make a copy of the world! Crashing the game can cause some damage.
In the video I said you should wait 15 seconds. But that might not be true for your device this is an average number for devices and if you try it often enough it should work. A simple rule to get the perfect time is this: if the portal is lit wait longer if you don't have an exit point wait shorter.
In this video I show a really useful bug. With the bug you can create a Ghost portal. A ghost portal is a portal exit point without any portal blocks or obsidian. A portal exit point is the position the game puts you when you go to the other dimension.
To get one of those Ghost portals you need to make a normal portal, break it and then crash the game. This works because the game saves the portal exit points different then than the blocks. If we crash the game it cant save properly. If we crash it when it already saved the blocks, but not the portal exit points we will get a ghost portal. To crash the game we use a bug that crashes the game with some bone meal.

I know it’s supposed to work on realms, just curious what exactly will happen? How long does it take for the realm to boot back up? I have 7 other players and want to make sure it won’t be to disruptive
You should definitely talk to the other players and don't do it when they want to play since the realm will crash for everyone. It should only take about 3 minutes to boot back up. Normally the realm shouldn't rollback more then a few minutes but to be safe wait 1 hour after anyone has built something so a massive rollback won't cause any harm.
On realms you might want to wait a little longer before activating the dispenser. I think 20-25 seconds should be good but try around a little if it doesn't work.

I've made these before by deleting nether chunk data and not deleting portal data. The overworld portal thinks it's linked to a portal in the nether and doesn't generate one for you.
Yeah I know that trick but now you can even do it in survival
Can you link a ghost portal in one dimension to a ghost portal in the other dimension? That would allow nearly-seamless transition between the two dimensions!

What happens if you place other things where the portal is supposed to be ?
The exit point will still work. Since the game don't want to place you inside blocks you will spawn next to the blocks of the exit point.

Restart your computer after crashing the game, this bug crashes many processes it shouldn't.
It only crashed the game for me. But you are right you should be careful with that bug

What happens if you place a singular nether portal tile, does it affect it at all?
@@ichorious3461 if you place a portal tile where the ghost portal is and then remove the tile the ghost portal will be removed

I don't know any way to crash the game in the current version. There might be one I don't know of. And there might be some in future updates
