- Unfortunately, this project has been put on long term hold. It turns out the tracks suffer zinc rot and are no longer usable. If anyone knows where I can lay hands on a set of 1/6 scale Panther tracks w/sprockets, now would be the time to say so! :)
Wow. 1/6th. Great project. Thanks Gary.
I dig it!!!! Just subscribed 👍👍👍
That will be a Job. It's in the Right Hands.
Cool Gary! Those were made by Alex Shlakter in Russia in early 2000's. He pass away in 2009 or so. Those are still sold by Mark1 tanks in UK. Should fix up nicely!
Thanks, Bob, and sorry for the delay. I don't always keep up like I should, but I always really appreciate input from viewers.
Are you going to make another "So you are going to buy an rc tank, eh?" 2024 edition, just wondering...
There haven't really been many changes since the last one, but if I get a hold of the HL 7.1 electronics I might due an update then.
Nice how much did it cost you?
Nice little monster, do you have any updates on the 1/6 Panzer 2 ?
Sorry for the delay. The tracks that came with the kit aren't good for RC and are intended to be glued. Not sure why this one is like that, Lorenzo Jalbert did one but his tracks had metal pins, and I think the kit came like that, but I could be wrong about that part. Until I can locate suitable tracks the project is on hold. Trying to get the Mercedes 540K upgraded, but real life keeps getting in the way.
@garyhoff2178 yeah, the kit form has those static tracks, the one I've got came already assembled with full pin tracks and are workable, however they're still not suited for rc
One idea is to reinforce them with metal strips like some guy did on CZcams, or get the metal ones from Giesswerk in Germany, but they cost about 1200€ without shipping and taxes
My way of doing it, it's probably gonna be by somehow inserting a bicycle chain through the tracks, masking it and reinforce the tracks with steel strips, only keeping the plastic part for design purposes, that when I will somehow have the patience and time for such a crazy endeavour
The stock ones will simply not do, not after adding motors, batteries and whatnot, first contact with grass and dirt will definitely snap them
