@@andyplant6379 that isn't entirely true. They can have one, or multiple ticks, and can sometimes resist them. But they wouldn't be having multiple ticks back to back in rapid secession because each tick usually has a unique trigger and when they get focused on that trigger its a strong enough compulsion they would ignore others. Also they usually don't sit and laugh at themselves the whole time either.
@@andyplant6379 ticks can definitely come and go over time. It's a pretty complicated neurological process and it's not that uncommon for someone with more severe Tourrette's to have almost "waves" where some of their ticks more or less go away and are replaced by others until it cycles back.

The other thing is of course the crazy obsession fans have, but even this is wanted and exploited to the fullest by the company and the idols themself, to capatilize on it.
I've had a friend who had Tourette's Syndrome and when I triggered it accidentally it was like the scariest thing to me. The complete lack of control over their own body during their ticks, being forced to say something over and over whilst repeating a motion that looks like it physically hurts all while actively trying to stop themselves and being incapable. It's an absolutely terrifying condition and it's disgusting that people make fun of it. Can any able body person imagine control of their body being completely stolen from you in an instant just because you hear something innocuous like choo-choo or meow? it's uncomfortable and gross and honestly awful that anyone would make a video making fun of it.
The closest I came to feeling something like that is sleep paralysis. But that comes no where close, since I've only had a handful of episodes in my life, and I'm not exactly in a situation where others can witness me doing or saying something inappropriate or stupid in those moments. I don't have to constantly worry that I could lose a job or a friend over accidentally saying the taboo word of the week.
The worst part is that people like her are not a new phenomenon. The "influencer" space has been filling with people who fake having Tourette's for the attention.
Tips to all pranksters out there, make YOURSELF the butt of the joke. Otherwise, it's not a prank, it's harassment, and you WILL run across the wrong person some day who will kick your ass, and the rest of us will finally laugh at you.

Freelancer here, just dropping a bit of context on contracted work. When you set a contract work with a freelancer, you are not their boss, you are their client, you make the decisions on what you want done, but NEVER on how it gets done.
You are not the one writing the rules, you are working with someone else's rules, I've agreed to help with virtual meetings at times, but also I've refused to participate in them if there's nothing I have to do there. For a freelancer your project is just income, we might act like we want it all to do well, but that doesn't mean we have any stock on it.
Short version, if a project is a mess or pretty much sinking down, we don't have any reason to sink with it.
And this is why companies aren't hiring freelancers anymore.

A byte can indeed usually (or rather, an octet to be sure we aren't talking about some exotic byte) have total of 256 possible bit combinations (8 bits, so 2^8 = 256), but that's overcomplicating it for someone that has no clue of what they are talking about like that journalist.

Tourette can show up in several ways. there are 'verbal tics' and 'physical tics' the verbal ones can be anything from cuss words to repeating sounds that were heard once, to sounds that you think something would make based on how it looks or acts, or a combinations of them. physical tics can be anything from a small muscle rapidly contracting and relaxing in a 'spasm' like manner to full body movements and everything in between and are usually repetitive, either a bunch of times in a row or every time there is a 'trigger' event or sound. AND both the verbal and physical tics can combine in weird and unique ways to make some really crazy looking and sounding behaviors that make others think the suffer is insane, when it's actually a physical problem within the brain structure and the process of the nerves in the brain sending signals. it's not an actual a mental state or problems as suffers can be highly intelligent and socially adapted.
I myself have a very mild amount of Tourette as I get tiny muscle 'spasms' in random and virous parts of my body. every thing from one eyelid to a finger, to a single muscle in my thigh, to a nostril, to a single muscle in my bicep, ect... I don't have the verbal aspect, which I'm thankful for. I do cuss a lot, but that is a chosen behavior and not from Tourette.

This is why the primary bit numbers are some common in computing. 8,16,32,64,128, 256, 512, 1024, etc. This is also why IPv4 addresses are numbers 0-255.
So, this just means that they allocated 1 byte (8 bits) to the chat space.
Unlikely. Chat space information would be stored in some sort of table made up of records. These records and the entire table would be FAR larger than one byte. The coders/designers chose 256 table entries (records or pointers to records) because it's a "round" number to them.

No. Chat space information would be stored in some sort of table made up of records. These records and the entire table would be FAR larger than one byte. The coders/designers chose 256 table entries (records or pointers to records) because it's a "round" number to them. The number of chat members would be stored in a typical 32 or 64 bit integer. No-one is dicking with bytes.
