He had a sniper in his feet. The power of strike is so well measured he makes it look so f…ing easy it’s unbelievable. These are the beautiful goals we see no more of in today’s football. He is clearly underrated in history of English football and its sad
As I’m a Geordie, Shearer should be my hero but Fowler ticked all the boxes for me. Just the dogs in front of goal. That left foot of his. Wow. No back lift, and the ball used to fly in the net. Just a great player.
That turn on Steve Staunton was sublime and the finish superb. A goal scoring genius. Most left footed goals in Premier League history and most Premier League goals with 64 before 21st birthday. A shame about the injuries that hindered him so much, should have played so much more for England, a great all round goal scorer.
I'm with you Kevin. Saw the goal on another compilation, searched it out, came here, saw your comment at the top. The speed of that turn and sweetness of the zero backlift strike, just class. If Fowler could be distilled into just one goal, for me, that was it.
@Peter Peters I agree that he didn't fulfill his destiny. He was the best striker England had by a county mile! I think Gerard Houllier played a major role in his undoing. He obviously preferred Michael Owen who, while being a plucky little fellow, and ideal suitor for your teenage daughter, was not in the same league as Robbie. Just compare Robbie's goal against Albania ( pure control and finesse) with Owen's 'wonder' goal against Argentina ( all right foot and a huge dollop of good luck). There is no comparison, but because of the hype surrounding Owen's goal, he became one of the darlings of English football along with Beckham, Gerrard et al. Sven Erikson and McLaren made the same terrible blunder - keeping Robbie as a bit-part player while the England team trundled on using journeymen - just going nowhere. Since the Gasgoine/ Barnes/ Beardsley era, he was probably the greatest English footballer.
@@lizardlordlordoflizards5096 completely agree. Although I don’t agree with the comment above yours. Fowler was far from lazy and that was evident by his attitude and play style. My favourite player past or present, just imagine what he could’ve done without the obvious injuries 😪
Pure Artist. I long for this Era for Premier League football when we had so many artists on the pitch, the likes of Fowler, Bergkamp, Pires, Le Tissier, Cesc Fabregas, Robin Van Persie etc. The current crop are machines just running about squaring the ball for tap ins.
One of my favs was his chip on schmeichel with his right boot after pushing Neville off the ball, through ball from Thomas or Barnes I think, epic goal, he scored 2 that game. The other one is in this clip, think was the return of cantona game
England loved that shearer/sheringham partnership. There were some amazing English forwards in and around that time, Ferdinand, Cole, le tissier, fowler, even Ian wright was still around. Class players, but you can’t play them all unfortunately
English Raul. Both legends but Real Madrid's Raul is among the ultimate legends of football. Robbie is one of those what ifs and a bit of a poor man's Raul. My nostalgia will never let me forget the biggest names of football of my childhood. 😂 Never, ever.
I want to know how on earth I've NEVER seen goal number 7 ever. I've watched loads of 'best Premier league goals' vids. That goal was pure magic. And goal 4. Come on, anyone who knows footie knows those goals are right up there with the very best. It's a flamin beauty contest today And goal 1, o my goodness. That's Ibrahimovic stuff. Everyone talks of Gazzas goal against Scotland but what a goal. I had no idea he had that kind of touch
A few people have said my son plays like him in front of the goal and I had to look him up. Wow what a compliment. I notice the style of play is a bit different today.
My footballing hero by some distance. World class before he was 21, then he got some serious Injuries and came back still world class but sadly he'd hit his ceiling.
1. suarez 2. torres/fowler/owen hard to decide between the three... Fowler - natural finisher, made it look easy could score from anywhere... Owen - good finisher with electric pace, could have been englands best ever striker if it wasn't for his injuries in my opinion Torres - had a couple of seasons at liverpool where he was untouchable
The most naturally gifted ever Liverpool striker; who had the misfortune to have played with the worst Liverpool teams (and managers) of the past 50 years.
Playing with Gerrard, Owen, Barnes, Rush, McManaman, Redknapp, Jones, Wright, Berger, McAllister and Collymore isn't the worst thing. Actually they were pretty awesome. He had bad luck with his injuries.
@Cool Dude no but when you constantly hate on the country but support one of its clubs it makes you a HYPOCRITE like most celtic loving 'oh I love liverpool too' fans do! And that's why everyone hates Liverpool fans. Its not the club... its the fans. Come on city!!!!

@@jaysmith2858 At least he was given the chance to say a proper goodbye thanks to Rafa, it was so good to see him back where he belonged even if it was only for a short time.

He didn't fulfill his destiny. Is to be the best finisher of all time.I've never seen a natural finisher as Robbie.
A bad injury kept him from that and although he didnt do bad at Leeds I dont think he ever felt at home anywhere after leaving Anfield
