    Thank you so much for this video. Quick to the point and very informative. I followed it step by step. The only hard part was fishing the wire with the hanger. I zip tied that wire so well, I still don’t dare roll that back window down 😂

    Thanks for the video, I'm doing the same install. I was wondering, though, why you chose to install the wire through the driver side and ignition area, instead of the less-busy passenger side with it's easy-access behind the globe-compartment?

    Hi, great video. I have a question about the wiring. Instead of running the separate "trigger wire", couldn't you just connect the trigger wire that comes with the reverse camera to reverse camera power and then bring that to the front (with the yellow video connection) and then plug the trigger wire at the other end into accessory? Then simply run a wire from the trigger wire behind the head unit to the brake wire under the dash that is powered when you put it in reverse. This is the red/yellow wire under the dash.

    Do I need to complete the circuit with the red accessory pigtail by connecting it to itself back by the taillight?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 5 měsíci

      No, it’s one or the other. If you connect one end to accessory and one end to the reverse light, you can backfeed your reverse circuit and cause damage. If the camera isn’t getting power, check your accessory wire or be sure it’s still grounded.

  • @s2000pill
    @s2000pill Před rokem +1

    how long does it take?

  • @pjrainmaker
    @pjrainmaker Před rokem

    The wire the powers the reverse light comes from the front. You didn’t need to run an additional wire. Just tap into the same wire you’re using in the back, just do it under the steering wheel

  • @paulreetz8466
    @paulreetz8466 Před rokem +1

    Great video! With your implementation and this Sony unit, will the backup cam view interrupt CarPlay if it is active? I assume yes but I've read some stereos won't interrupt when you go into reverse if CarPlay is on.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před rokem +1

      Yes, all brand name units will interrupt any source to display the reverse camera as long as the radio's reverse trigger wire is properly connected.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před rokem

      It doesn’t, we tape it off. Camera gets power from accessory up front, red wire back at the camera we insulate, and ground connects to ground of reverse light.

    I watched this video 8 times already and can’t figure out why my setup is not working. I had to extend my RCA cable because it was not long enough to reach the front of the car. Will the camera still get power if the cable is extended, but is only a regular RCA, not one with the auxiliary power wire? PLEASE HELP I’m so close to being done!

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 10 měsíci

      Depends on the camera, depends on the wiring. Maybe? Not every camera uses the same wiring harness.

  • @whylee13
    @whylee13 Před rokem +1

    I followed this guide and have made it all the way to the stereo using the second wiring option. However, I'm getting "No Signal" for the R-Cam. The trigger wire works, when I shift into the reverse, and the accessory wire shows 13V of current on the multi-meter. So that only leaves the RCA connector. Any thoughts?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před rokem

      Camera isn’t getting power. Ensure if wiring it to accessory, to ensure it’s connected as well as the ground.

    Hello there! I’m in Utah and need a similar job for a 2005 4Runner how can I get in touch with you?

  • @christophercrispin5605

    I did it verbatim how you said, and now my radio won't turn on unless I put it in reverse. I took everything apart, and made sure it was back to original wiring without backup camera, and the radio won't turn on at all now.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před rokem

      Sounds like a wiring issue. Check your fuses. If your radio only turned on while in reverse, you have some major wiring issues and potential blown fuses.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před rokem

      Refer to this video for your radio issue: czcams.com/video/xDjM0uB7fl8/video.html

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před rokem

      Also ensure your backup camera is NOT powered by BOTH the reverse light and the accessory red wire. Doing so can cause major damage

    • @christophercrispin5605
      @christophercrispin5605 Před rokem

      Thank you. I figured everything out. The only thing now is I keep blowing the IG1 fuse which is the reverse trigger for the stereo. So everything is fine until I try to put it in reverse.

    • @christophercrispin5605
      @christophercrispin5605 Před rokem

      @@ProvoBeastAudio so just to reiterate, I disconnected that “extra purple wire” going from reverse positive power from tail light to reverse gear input signal. That stopped the fuse from popping and the camera still works when I select it on the stereo, but now I don’t have a trigger for when I go into reverse gear

  • @pjrainmaker
    @pjrainmaker Před rokem

    You keep mentioning that there are no trigger wires because it’s an old analog car. Cars still use the same electronic signals but with the addition of CANBUS, a digital signal that carries binary code, but you don’t use them for triggers anyway. So the comments about the old analog car are really ridiculous.
    Just think about it, does the backup camera kit come with different equipment for connecting it up to a new digital car versus an old analog car ?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před rokem

      Unplug the harnesses from the lift gate modules on the driver side, remove the negative off of the battery, wait a few minutes, reconnect harnesses and negative on battery. That should reset the module in the lift gate.
