☕️🥾🎒🔥. Love a good outdoor coffee video. I generally reach for my aeropress when I head out, but I love making coffee different ways.

I just take my Aeropress with me - life is too short to compromise coffee standards. I suppose the fact that use preground coffee is a bit of a compromise…😊

I still haven't tried the Aeropress, but I know a lot of people love them!

@vanziklp Can you grind at home before your trip? That's what I normally do, before I bought this grinder.

In the backcountry I either make cowboy coffee or use coffee filters to make "tea Bags" of coffee at home and float one of those in my cup. If my wife and daughter are with me, car camping, I use this ancient percolator I picked up when I was a goofy teenager in the 90's.

Percolators definitely seem to be a popular option! I like the coffee filter/teabag idea!

I'm pretty particular about coffee at home and use pour over in a Melita. Camping I purchased a silicone pour over container that can be flattened, similar to the silicone dish pan, but only as round as a coffee cup, it's pretty small. For the pour over method I have to carry ground coffee and filters.
But so far I'm carrying instant. It's so much easier, and clean up is so much easier.

While car camping, we use a very old percolator. When backpacking, if we have enough water, we will use instant coffee. If we don't have enough water, we unhappily without 😅

The horror of going without! When that's happened to me, I end up making it when I get my next water supply!

  • @hikingadventureswithshanba1365

I’ve always used a percolator but could never get it right. I might have to get this!

I had an old percolator years ago, but I've had trouble getting it right, too. I LOVE French press coffee. I started making it daily almost 10 years ago when I left my coffee maker behind in my divorce (he didn't even like coffee, but it was one more thing he "couldn't live without"), and I have no need for a coffee maker now.

When we RV camp, we use an insulated French press (similar to yours, but not Stanley) and either pre-ground coffee, or we have an old, but good electric grinder that we sometimes use, but that requires that we either have hookups or run the generator. So we pre-grind the day before so as not to wake up neighbors with the annoying generator. I've wondered about that grinder you have, though; if ours ever dies, that's what I will probably replace it with.
Backpacking, I use CS Instant Coffee which is my favorite instant coffee.

The hand grinder was a fun addition, and definitely nice that it doesn’t require electricity. Those insulated French presses are the best!

Instant coffee…I call that plastic coffee, and would only use that medicinally😂 Aeropress all day for me…
I love your platform and appreciate all your posts. Mountain goat hopefully got coffee to her taste, in bed👍PS I noticed that you were whispering, but obviously not soft enough…Greetings from NZ, just going into winter

Thank you! Mountain Goat actually hates coffee, so I get to hoard it all for myself! Luckily, she said she couldn't even hear me from the tent, even after she woke up.
A lot of instant is so gross. It's part of why I did my taste test to see what worked for me, but even still, it's not the same as a brewed cup. I try not to go that route when car camping for that reason.
I should really try an Aeropress. I know a lot of people are really happy with them.
