- Warning: New Backpacking Gadget Testing Fail.
What you're about to see is a dangerous mistake and epic outdoor cooking gear fail that I made while testing my latest Ultralight Backpacking Stove and Fire Dragon Gel Fuel.
I got burnt and nearly started a fire. Testing out Fire Dragon Fuel Cubes with my Ultralight Backpacking Stove was more dangerous than I expected but it didn't have to be if I had followed best practices and tested my equipment before heading out into the back country.
Join me as I learn how to safely use the Fire Dragon Fuel Cubes.

I like your honesty.
I appreciate the support. I’d like to chalk this one up as a great learning opportunity. 🙂
The obvious is always blatantly obvious afterwards
🤦🏻
Nobody is immune to mistakes or bad decisions.
If someone experienced can make the mistake, then someone less experienced is also at risk of making the same mistake.
Similar products with similar functions being intermixed incorrectly has been a factor in many of man’s disasters great and small.
When you survive a mistake, you learn from experience.
When you are humble enough to share that experience, then others can learn , and perhaps avoid experiencing their final lesson.
Thank you for sharing this.
I could have very easily made a similar mistake.
After all , these appear to be solid fuel tabs….
Until they aren’t.
Great video
👍😎
I’ve always liked the saying ‘common sense is only common if you have it’
In this instance, it was indeed lacking. Hopefully my blunder will be a great learning experience for others and help emphasize the importance of learning how to use your equipment and testing your knowledge before heading out.
Thanks for the great feedback and support!
Amazing. RTFI. I applaud your honesty, but little else. Most people would have slunk away in embarrassment, but you embraced your ignorance to make a video. Your strapline is 'Warning New Backpacking Gadget Test Fail' .Nothing wrong with the kit . The kit didn't fail. You failed due to your incompetence, not the gear. Fire Dragon stove and fuel are used widely by the UK services and outdoors people. Don't blame your fail on the gear. Amend your video.
My intention was certainly not to mislead. With the thumbnail and the title both calling out my error and mistake not to mention repeatedly stating that I messed up, I thought it was clear that the error was mine and mine alone.
I’ll try to be more consistent with my messaging in future videos.
As I learn and develop my channel, I’m finding I do indeed have a lot of room for improvement.
Thank you for the feedback it truly is appreciated.
