I enjoyed your review of your ST1100. I own a 1998 St1100 that I bought used with 11,000 miles on it. It’s got 13,000 miles on it now so I guess it will serve me well for the foreseeable future. Mine looks almost new. Because some owners talked about the exhaust systems having rust I painted the header mufflers with POR-15 rust preventive so I guess rust don’t be a problem. The other thing I did was install a rear fender liner extension that protects the swing arm from abrasion from sand blasting by the rear wheel. Mine has bar risers also. It’s just a great bike.
I was so glad to hear you note that these have increased in price. Many of the CZcams videos are from 10 years or so ago and many people were saying not to pay over 2500 for one. Those days are over as they are getting harder to find in good condition. I just purchased one of these and initially, I thought I might have given too much. Not so, I am finding out.
They are still available privately for decent money.It's the dealers who are now taking them in p/x and selling them for big money.Best thing is to avoid the dealers.You can bet they didn't hand over very much in p/x.

Love your videos. Feels familiar as I have multiple bikes with a 95 Pan ....growing on me A LOT! Also have a Boxer (r1100gs). I come from the north west (you sound like lancs/Merseyside)...no AMG but an air cooled flat four (T25😂!) My god though...the contents of your garage!
Good reviews - BUT - you really should replace the timing belt. The normal life of the timing belt is 100,000 km (around 60K miles) so you are well past now. If that belt breaks, you will immediately be off the road - and your engine will be wrecked. Replacing the belt is not a bad job and you might want to replace the clutch slave cylinder while you’re at it. They tend to die at about 10-12 year point (distance is not the issue with these components) - but it’s an easy job when you do the timing belt and again, you are well past now. BTW - that is why the ST1300 is an even better choice for a long term bike as it uses a timing chain - which should last the life of the bike.
Great bikes .I've had mine for 2 years , puts a smile on my face every time I leave the driveway! No problems of any kind , but I do check things . V4 /shaft drive : Smooth as a turbine . If I should find out I need something newer , I'll hang on to this one till new one has proved it self!
I keep my bikes immaculate...but recently got a Suzuki 1980 GS1000G which I had to restore. Had a serious 11 inch long donk in fuel tank, so repaired and looks good, but upon close inspection, not perfect. When I first got it, I thought I'd leave it rougher...like yours. So I get your approach. Hey it's an old bike, it's allowed to look used.
You really should service the brake calipers, cleaning and lubricating the pin that holds the brake pads, ensuring that the mechanism moves without hindrance or friction. My point of view, of course. I've done this on my cars, the Lexus IS 220d and my toyota Celica VVTi, and it worked great. It's not just the rotors or brake pads that matter. I planed, sometime to do that in my Honda ST1100
Hmm, sounds like something is amiss, mid/low 40s I could understand but 36 is poor. Could be many things, I would start with air filter, carb clean, valve check.

First thing I've done with all my bikes is change to stainless lines. Well worth it. Re 1300 wobble, I've got an st11 and st13. I had a bad rear end wobble when I got mine. Biggest cause is weight on the back followed by the huge top box plus a combination of rear tyre and shock setting. First thing is new tyres and correct pressures. After a lot of long distance commuting to work I found that if the rear shock is not balanced with the front the front pogo's/bounces a lot. Top box is a pain in the wiind but weight on the back is the biggest problem. I've done a load of food shopping on the st13 and filled the panniers, top box and bag on a seat and riding round corners has been quite scary with what feels like the back wheel trying to get in front of the front wheel, have to keep the speed down. Haven't tried it yet but would assumme I need to up the preload a lot more like carrying a pasenger to bring it back into balance.

This was sad to watch. The ST1100 isn't a disposable bike but you're treating it like one by not keeping up with the maintenance on it. Just sell it to someone who'll take care of it and get your replacement bike, otherwise this one will end up in a junkyard.

Of course it's disposable, I paid $1100 for it 40 K miles ago - how much should I spend on it exactly? When it dies it dies, I doubt most ST1100s went over 100K miles. Go bug someone else.
We love our 1100, Honda did this bike perfectly. Can’t think of anything that would replace it.

Just bought one 95, 25k miles pristine condition, honda dealer every year per 2200 in Vermont. Wonderful machine, everything new except tires.

Stainless brake lines help all bikes on braking. The 1300 reportedly had a high speed stability issue, which it worth researching for the remedy.

IT made it too 100,045 miles and then the charging system gave up = scrap
