My father owened a 144 DeLuxe (4 door version) for over 30 years. He drove it for over 300.000 Km (190.000 miles). Very reliable car. When I got old enough I drove it too. I enjoyed driving it. It has lots of torque and when you shut the door it feels like closing the door of a vault. It had the same red interior, everybody loves that. Nice car.
Amazing. I had 1969 Volvo 142 4 speed. it was my very first car. I wish I had kept it.
Wow, you had a nice and well preserved car! I owned a 1970 142S standard, and had it for 17 years, plus the previous 11 years with the first and second owners. A total of 28 years of great service and was a blast to drive as an everyday commuter. Love these series of Volvos, from 1969 to 1972. I still miss her...
+Hernan Rivera Im looking to buy one it has 77k miles for 4500. is it worth it? has it been reliable to you?
+Josue Garcia my Volvo 142S was very reliable while I have it. The repairs and maintenance were normal, and according to the years of daily use. After 28 years, the tranny broke down and was very difficult to find a replacement. This car is great, but to find major replacements is not easy. If you think you could manage that and the price is OK with you, go for it! Btw, I would like to see some pictures of her!
I had the 142 S many years back did many Miles with it, it was a 1972 from memory, dual carbs, and 4 speed manual, the only issue i had with it is the main bearings in the lay shaft in the trans, and head gasket needed replacing.
AND 1969-1973 VOLVOS ARE MY DREAMCARS
I have a 1972 164E with 678,000 miles and its my everyday driver!
YOU ARE MY HERO, S.A.S!
The Volvo 140 series... THE cars ! very simple but pleasant design !
My first car in 1982 was a neighbors' hand me down 69 Volvo 142S, it needed a trans rebuild. I had the trans rebuilt but I was never able to get that dual Stromberg carb setup to run right, the two vacuum bells you can see with the hood up had screw off caps that you were supposed to put some ATF in for lubrication.
My problem was one vacuum bell was more worn/scratched inside than the other and so they would never sync to each others needle height and it was like they were fighting each other and the idle would go up and down and crazy, and with an automatic trans it would slam into gear at times because the idle would jump up.
I remember trying to switch carb bells with others and just couldnt get them to work right. Loved the car though, lots of room, no blind spots!
I love old Volvos. Neat old car.
Beautiful looking car. I've always preferred 4 door sedan and station wagons, but this is nice as well.
Volvos are fantastic automobiles!
The new inspector Columbo's car ! Marvelous !
The front seats looks like them on the 1970 more than 1969 and I don't think they are original. But still it's nice car. My parents have two when I was a child. I live in Sweden so 140 was a very common car.
Owned a 142S in `1970 and it stickered at $3250.00, hardly the cost of a Corvette but the guy is a car scab....Meanwhile this ride immaculate. Only drawback is that it's an automatic which makes it a dog but a great commuter station ride.
This volvo is well great in billions of ways
I like these car's, I've had the chance of a 1971 144gl UK model, its the B20 inj model, for very little money, it need work but its really original, my concern is that spares seem a bit thin on the ground in the UK,
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THAT CAR!!!
@overtheradar I think that's an exception rather than a normal experience. Mine has been fairly reliable after I sorted out the initial old car siting in a barn problems. Apart from the horrible, horrible SU carbs.
Amd the test drive, where's the next video containing that?
I was loving it until I saw that automatic shifter. ;-)
I WISHD ID HAD 5 VOLVO 142 MODELS 1969-1973
My kindergarten teacher had one of those back in 1970.
nothing like as they say " The Speed Of Smell" nice one.
The very first car I ever purchased was a brand new 1969 Volvo 142, white exterior, red interior, four speed manual transmission, B20 two litre engine, add on air conditioning and AM/FM radio.
The car came with a six month warrantee and after 6.5 months two or three things would break or stop working every month until I got rid of it at eighteen months. Never bought another Volvo again.
ONE OF MY DREAMCARS FROM 1970S
A REAL TRUNK LID! AND A BIG ONE TO BOOT (Pardon the UK pun!)! Try finding a large trunk lid on a car built today!
but does it have low miles?

I WISHD ID HAD SOME DAY 142. RS1600 AND 242 VOLVO
I WISHD ID HAD 142 VOLVO SOME DAY 2 GT MODELS 1969-71
Where's the mud flaps??
stvynix in trash can
tail lights not stock: missing chrome-color.
I go a volvo 142 - 71. whit 31.562 Miles whit the brown/yellow paint. " My english is not so good so i can´t say exacly what the paint on the car is "
A very late comment but oh well... This was not really a good "restoration" and or "kept original". It has modified hole in the dashboard for the modern stereo and the exhaust is not right. The "gassprings" htat should hold the trunk open did not seem to be all that good... overall a nice car but those details really domngrades it...
Wow.... I have never seen this model of Volvo, even on a picture :)) It's a real oldtimer.
I think the car has a idiotic combination of exterior&interior color. But anyway that's a funny car.
