I learned the other two, but when this happened I got sick of it, was really done with the dark arts.
Learned the other two out of curiosity, but was too pissed at Sebastian to learn Avada Kadavra at that point. Then I obviously handed the guy in for being a total lunatic.

The funniest thing about this entire questline is how Ominus is always okay with my character.... I am literally the devil in Sebastians ear the entire time, and most of the time right in front of Ominus

Im going with "The end justfies the means" I admit to both of them that its a bad thing but at the same time convince them to go further down the road to maybe find a cure. Im roleplaying as this naive hogwarts kid who just wants to help. I took the path of learning the spells but I dont execute them.. most of the people who watched others casting the spells in the books know how to use them too so even If I roleplay as a good guy, I can still learn them.
so far only did the crucio quest, see where it leads.
Give me a reason that lifting someone in the air and bludgeoning them to death by slamming them into the ground is more of a forgivable and ethical way to kill someone than the notably painless and usually instant death of Avada Kadavra.
Or bloody smiting them with a blast of lightning.

The avada kadavra wand movements are the same shape as Harry's scar, that's neat.
Yes, Voldemort kind of carved the shape in poor Harrys face instead of killing him in Godrics Hollow, its ofcourse better than dying but it must have been very painful for the poor one year old.

The curse rebounded off of Harry due to the Love enchantment his mother's dying moment gave him... it killed Voldemort and the resulting energy of it rebounding off of him (Since Babies do tend to have big heads) just so happened to have hit him in the forehead... He didn't carve it into his head...

He can sort of see through his wand. Notice how he walks with his wand to navigate, meaning he uses some spell to help him navigate and detect objects or people in front of him.

I think one of my favorite parts of this game is that when you cast specifically crucio, you chant it with such conviction like you REALLY mean it
Crucio definitely has the best voice line in the game. It's almost as if the character is saying it while gritting his teeth

@@olchum7605 it's also a strong contrast with how your character responds to being tortured. You sound like you're reading a description in a book "the pain was excruciating" rather than a 15 year old recovering from the worst pain they ever felt. Sebastian sounded a lot more natural.

the most annoying part about this is not being able to stop Sebastian ever at all. Even when you agree with Ominis and Solomon, even when you tell sebastian he's being stupid the dialogue always find a happy medium to help sebastian. It's the ONE thing i don't like in my pure good run. Because making a character who helps sebastian until they realize dark magic is involved is impossible, the MC always helps.

That is what makes me mad about the game, for a RPG your choices doesn't matter at all, I really wanted to save him from the dark Arts but you as player can't help him, it sucks, man. I miss those game as Dragon Age where you can try harder to change people's mind, if you want to get this type of story, ok, but gives the option to stop him and unlock a new ending saving our boy from the curses and make him less bitter about his sister illness.
@ Well, I wouldn't call this RPG game. This is an Action with very light RPG elements, especially since you can only play kindness itself, or a ridiculously evil bully.
Let's hope for a game in this setting with strong role-playing.
Totally agree! I really wish we could have added all the elements together and with the help of Ominis and further research/exploration using ancient magic and potentially the relic that dispels dark curses we could have created a counter curse and actually cured Anne. Therefore saving Sebastian from killing his uncle and ultimately saving his relationship to Anne, Ominis, and Solomon. (This could also have been a clue for Ominis that while Salazar Slytherin used the dark arts, he also saw them as a tool and was not necessarily evil for evils sake {which would also honor his aunt Noctua’s memory seeing is that’s what she was trying to find before she died} like how Sebastian views the unforgivables and ultimately would help his character grow too.
Then we’d have a new companion in Anne the next year and build onto the relationships we started in fifth year. We’d have character growth, still have access to dark magic, if we so chose, and get a potential good ending instead of the crumbling mess we have now.
Where does one take Sebastian, Ominis, and Anne’s story now? Especially if Sebastian does get turned in at the end.
Anne and Ominis only existed for the sake of fleshing Sebastian out since we have no interaction with either of them without it being linked to a Sebastian quest. And his quests were by far mg favorite.
Both he and Ominis’s voice actors really sold the parts. Very charismatic and the banter made it feel like I was with a good group of friends. I’d love that and to have Anne too in the undercroft and bullying first years! Lol
But I really don’t know if there’s going to be anything else with them and that makes me sad.
It's honestly what made me skip over Sabastian as a character because once I figured out his story is this and even if you disagree your PC does the beating around the bush , run around. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy his Questline and character but as an RPG of "choice" and leaving your "legacy," "your"way. Kinda misses the mark.
The only thing I ever agreed with when my character spoke out and told him, I could do this alone if he didn't stop being a fuckboi when we raided the goblins together.

You can actually meet Sebastian in the Undercroft any time after the quest and he will teach you the spells there. If you don't choose to learn them, they're not gone forever.

I feel bad for Sébastien cause he was trying almost everything to try find a cure for Anne yet the uncle kept interfering. Like what if the relic was capable of curing Anne, we would never know cause the uncle ruined any chance of finding out
PS this is just my opinion but instead of using the killing curse like Sébastien and basically letting the uncle off easy, I would've have my character use "crusio" on the uncle each time Anne starts to suffer. I would also have my character use it on the uncle each time he either yells at Sébastien or interferes with any attempts at saving Anne 😅
This questline had the potential to be the best part of the game but man the lack of awareness drove me up a wall. Like, no matter how hard I tried to steer sebastian away from the dark arts without straight up betraying him, I was always blamed by other characters for it as if I was encouraging him. Like, hell no, nobody is trying harder than me to stop him before he gets someone killed (surprise surprise) and mf’s are acting like I might as well have done it myself.
I know what you mean, but for me Sebastian’s quest line was more interesting to me than the main storyline
I did support Sebastian's journey, and i think it's ok to learn curses, but i remember being completely confused when we are expected to fight his uncle, what the hell????
@@Zaurkax14 I loved this quest line but I though it would end in some kind of sacrifice to be able to cure Anne. Sebastian was always talking about some kind of sacrifice. I thought he would have to sacrifice someone (maybe Ominis) to be able to cure Anne or something. I was disappointed in the end.
I thought our choices during the quest would count for the end (curing or not curing Anne and sacrificing or not someone). Like in The Witcher we have some side quests where your choices define different endings (including curing or not someone).
Your ancient magic is 10x more powerful and scary than the 'unforgiveable' spells, and it makes the characters dithering about them seem lame. I mean, they just die.... or they get smashed into the ground multiple times, or they become a part of the cockening and turn into a rooster (I love that detail by the way).

I had my character use crucio on every spider before straight up using incendio on them. Spiders are creepy but somehow even creepier in arachniphobia mode 😅
PS this is just my opinion but how is making the spiders have no legs and roller skates for feet better. If anything it makes the spiders creepier and goofy in arachniphobia mode. I 'm not sure which is worse having arachniphobia mode off and seeing the regular creepy spiders or having it on and seeing spiders with no legs along with roller skate feet 😂

Then there’s me who wants to just go full on dark side lol. To me the unforgivable safe just another spell/tool in the arsenal. Like even the most basic spell wingardriam leviosa can be brutal. Like levitating someone then pushing them away from a ledge to fall straight to their death. Then there’s the killing curse which if used in a different way can actually be used for good. Like say there’s a patient in a hospital who’s in a lot of pain and is suffering while slowly dying. One could simply use the killing curse to ease their suffering and give them a quick and painless death instead of dragging it out. Imperio…. that’s pretty self explanatory, like if someone was robbing a bank and had hostages it could be used to make them come freely without anyone getting hurt. I suppose the way I see it is, that’s it’s more about the intent on how you use it rather than the spell itself. Though like everything else there are some outliers such as inferi, or horcuxes. I have yet to find a reason for how those could be used for good. I suppose if you could theoretically control the inferi you’d have an undead army on your hands to sue against enemy’s. Welp sorry for the long ramble my ADD got the better of me and it’s like 2am

The confusing thing to me is that even if I don’t want to learn the unforgivable curses, I still have to play Sebastian’s companion quest if I want to 100% the game.
And there is no choice that changes Sebastian’s path. Even not doing or completing his quest doesn’t change anything as it just hangs out until you decide to take it up.
The only explanation I can figure is that Sebastian’s character could be setup as a possible future antagonist in a sequel. ie ala Dumbledore/Grindewald once friends to become future enemies.
I both love and hate this. I love it as it could lead to some really interesting and difficult decisions in future sequels. Hate it because I’m definitely one of those cock-eyed optimists who like to think that there is good, and kindness and hope in the world for people to change and become better people. And I am a sucker for an emotional yet happy ending. So if we’re not able to make things work out…I’d be terribly disappointed.
I find it interesting these are learned in the order in which the analogous D&D spells are listed in terms of power as 7th, 8th, and 9th level spells: Power Word Pain, Dominate Monster, and Power Word Kill.

There is another way to learn the unforgivable curses if you chose not to earlier. As long as you're with Seb in the secret section ask him to teach you. Just make sure you do it before you turn him in because then that option will disappear if you intend on turning him in.
I think there should exist alternative way to learn unforgiveable curses, from another student. I have concept of that alternative, may i will publish it one day

Fun fact, you can see him occasionally move around Hogwarts like the other named characters, and he actually is using his wand to navigate.
Poor fellow seems to have a lot of issues, mental and/or otherwise. and no matter what path you take at the end of Sebastian's quest line, his friendship is still in ruins. There isn't a way to repair that when it's that damaged.

@@alpyki2588 still see them sitting around together eating n all, even after finishing the game, for my playthrough i didnt turn him in, learned all but avada kedavra.. basically was mostly being nice to sebastian especially towards the end; the whole time tho i was rather neutral about the whole thing, he only wanted the best for anne but when he got the relic, thats when shit got bad man
The worst thing is that I really disagreed with Sebastian but I egged him on because I was afraid that I wouldn't learn the curses otherwise. I had to call Sebastian "brave" after killing his uncle just so he could teach me avada kedavra. But I turned him in afterwards

I were hoping you gonna use Killing Curse on Sebastian at the end just like how Voldy should act: Sweet talk his way to learn the information and then kill the informer. And I didn’t disappoint that you immediately set the curse and tried it (even though the game not allow you).

You know? I actually thought it would be quite different. For some reason, "In the Shadow of Relics" should have had different outcomings, in my opinion. I was actually hoping there would be 3 options for us, players, to choose: 1 - Kill Sebastian: for some dark reason, the relic would only activate with a sacrifice - Sebastian would offer himself to cure his sister, however, killing him would make Ominis never want to speak to you again for using dark magic to the point of killing someone, but his sister would be cured. / 2 - Kill Ominis: this would be darker, because Ominis wouldn't want to be sacrificed, but you and Sebastian would kill him. Even though his sister would be cured, Anne wouldn't want to speak to either of you ever again and would fall into depression. / 3 - Don't kill anyone: you would overpower Sebastian, maybe with stupefy, and would get rid of the relic with the help of Anne and Ominis - Sebastian wouldn't speak with you again, his sister would remain cursed, but Ominis would have great respect for you.
Sebastian isn't a bad guy. He's just broken because he doesn't want to lose his sister. If you don't betray him, you will learn that he regrets what he did and it seems it's Anne reaction what made him understand that he was wrong about a cure and he can't do nothing. It's really depressing. At the beginning it seems he is just in love with the dark arts and he is a bad guy but thanks Merlin he has character development and he is not just a mini Voldemort.

I told Sebastian our friendship wasn't going to work btw. When he first lost his shit I told him it was time to part ways. Which I actually would've done. But the game MADE us complacent in his actions. Especially just to learn the awesome spells.
Imagine if you learn the unforgivable curses and they updated the game where you can use a patronus in combat but you're locked out of them 😬
You can use the patronus charm even when you have used unforgivables cuz umbridge can use a patronus despite having used crucio many times
But expecto patronum isn’t even usable for us, only for the one part with Hufflepuff which kinda sucks, tho since there’s hardly any dementors to fight, makes sense.

What I think would be awesome is if they bring them in as an enemy to encounter at night in certain places, and when you see them, you must click the button to unleash the patronus charm on them, and when you use it on them, they can be defeated by other spells, so it’s like the inferi, but these guys fly.
Unless Im very much mistaken, what Ive read online is even if you choose the dialogue option to tell Sebastian he went too far, you can still meet him in the Undercroft and learn the Killing Curse. So I don't think the game designers completely screw you over for trying to be the good guy.

Just confirmed a couple days ago. You can still get the Killing Curse using the way I said above. Even if you say No one Should Know that Curse.
Sebastian is my favorite character and I will protect him at all costs; Avalanche, please make DLC where literally all I do is hang out with my dude

Honestly, I wish you could hang out with your friends in this game and even possibly date someone.
I chose to learn the Unforgivables during my playthrough, but I *never* used them. I would probably have turned Sebastian in if I wasn't an "unlock-freak" and without realizing the "nobody should know it" was the learn/not learn prompt for AK, and the only way to unlock it after that quest is by not turning him in for it.
I still remember Sebastian's story arc very strongly from playing the game, and mainly as an *incredibly* sorrowful one. At the stage of learning/using Crucio, there was no other way out. It was necessary to escape the trap, and so I learned it to unlock it, but let Sebastian cast it on me.
Imperio, we got to learn it but had the choice not to use it or have it be used what so ever in the quest, which is the route I took.
However, as for the cutscene where Sebastian casts AK on his uncle, my heart genuinely broke a little, because it wasn't necessary. He did it in a fit of misguided rage/frustration and what he did was *truly* unforgivable, he snuffed out the candle of life from another human being in a fit of rage, ending his uncles life, as well as his own, in a very untimely manner. If he was so angry or really wanted to stop or prevent his uncle from stopping him, Imperio would've done the trick, as would Crucio, if he *really* felt the need to use a curse all together.
All in all the with the excellent melancholy sound-track that played, combined with the very well made cutscene and the subsequent 'unraveling' of Sebastian's story arc made it by far the most memorable moment to me in the game, in a *very* sorrowful way. I genuinely felt my heart sink and then break a little even though it was very obvious that this was when he'd use AK, I felt myself thinking as the cutscene played out "Don't do it Sebastian, Don't cross this one absolute point of no return".
I love Sebastian and his quests are the best of the game. I think most people don't understand Sebastian and think he is evil, for me he is broken and add some taste for the dark arts to the recipe... we know Slyhterins can do EVERYTHING for love or loved ones, we saw it with Snape and Narcissa. Sebastian had good intentions but turned so wrong at the end. I chose to stay as a true friend until the end because for me it was better, because it's the only way to see he is suffering and he regrets what he did and he doesn't know how to handle the pain for killing his uncle, losing his sister and accept that he did all wrong and achieved nothing. He thanks you and ask for your forgiveness, and plus he starts to change his mind, while if you betray him, he is sent to Azkaban and becomes more bitter. The only thing I hate is that we can't really save Anne or save Sebastian from the Dark Arts.
Yeah I wanted to learn them all but I chose to say no one should know them thinking there'd be a second option to learn it like with the one before but never gave me a chance now I have one spell unlearned and it's driving me crazy
to be fair, from the voice lines that the MC says, i believe he kills basically everyone he defeats, just he doesnt use a curse for it.
@@lovis1188 yeah but I choose to believe that we "defeat" them rather than outright kill them even though the voice lines suggest otherwise. Unless exploding them with ancient magic, most of the time it doesn't necessarily look like we kill them as opposed to knock them out and send them to st. Mungus hospital or something x) The goblins I don't got no remorse for though, granted it makes no sense that we're running around as a 5th year student killing bandits/goblins in the first place which also makes me see it as though it's more that we defeat them in duels x)
The morals of you guys make no sense at all. You are ignoring the fact that your character kills hundreds of bad people, but Sebastian did 'such a terrible thing' for doing it once?

honestly with the curcio spell the voice actors could've had a little more heart for the screams.
After reading most of the comments about the curses I find it hilarious because now I see the curses are the guns of Hogwarts and a lot of the arguments people have made can also be said the same thing in real life

I only learned crucio. And my reasoning was because it was necessary to our immediate survival to use that specific spell and it was guaranteed that it would be used on me so I wanted to understand it but I’ve never used it.
I couldn’t cast it on seb but I also couldn’t willingly allow someone to cast it on me without having knowledge of it first. (Like getting a surgery you know nothing about but the surgery only exists for you to suffer).
Neither imperio or the killing curse need to be used by you or your allies and no one successfully uses them on you so I didn’t bother to learn them.

I could see some use from the killing curse. I'd argue its an easier death for things than being bludgeoned to death by 3 ft tall boulders or being set on fire repeatedly. Or just a better fate than being turned into an explosive barrel or a chicken. If something must die, might as well make it as swift and painless as possible.
Seriously how is not transforming a wizard against their will to an animal or inanimate object (especially a destructible one) not classified as unforgivable? I'm pretty sure I would hate forever a person who turned me into a chicken for an undisclosed amount of time.

Also i really like about Ominis character is because his back story shows the mindset and knowledge that he was being inducted was to create a "Dark Lord" ,what i love about that character is that he refuse and rebel against. Or i read too much in the ominous name of the character.or both.

I really liked the Crucio questline, it really sets scene and the weight of using it very well
I hated Solomon the most! The way he refused Sebastian to do anything and forbid him to find a cure it felt like he wanted Anne to suffer and die! Killing him could be too much, but I sypmathize with Sebastian's anger
Solomon didn't want Anne to die. Sebastian openly tells us in the library mission that they tried everything, from St Mango to Hogwarts professors, and nothing worked. The guy is a former Auror who hates Dark Magic and resigned because he was traumatized for using an Unforgivable Curse on a target, which broke him, and Sebastian's supposed solution involved extremely dark forces. He's still a jerk but people need to stop seeing him as some kind of evil monster who takes pleasure at seeing Anne suffer.

Sebastian didn't want to give up, but Solomon didn't have anything to show that he's there for Anne. Didn't give her medicien for the pain, didn't comfort her in troubled times, didn't bought her favourite books didn't do anything. And after Sebastian saved Anne with an unforgivable curse, what would have been Solomon's job, he started bitching about the curses are bad. Sorry, but Anne curse was enough to show Sebastians side of things, I didn't saw Solomon actually working hard to at least ease Anne's pain or saw any specific reason for hating unforigivible curses. He's a shame to a Slytherins. I admit an Avada Kedavra was not deserved, but I symphatize was Sebastian's anger

The pistol can be used in self defense and won't outright kill unless it's aimed to, while a rpg will kill no matter what and can't be used in any other purpose other than to destroy a target.

I would take the death curse( Which has been stated to be quick and painless) to all the spell MC uses on his enemies. The MC in hogwarts legacy is honestly a psychopath with a big body count.

What makes me mad about the game is that you can't really do a thing about everything that happens in the game, you can't save Anne, you can't save Sebastian from the Dark Arts. I miss RPGs like Dragon Age where your choices matter, you can save, side or kill the people you fiind. You can be good or evil.
As much as I don't like the fact that Sebastian used Avada Kedavra, his side quests are by far the best thing of the game. And I think the devs used young Tom Riddle for inspiration but with a big difference, Sebastian isn't bad, he is just broken and can't accept that his sister is dying and he can't do a thing to save her life. After the AK, if you don't betray him you will understand that he was wrong all the time and regrests what he did, yes, he is a Slytherin but like Ominis, he isn't a bad person. Slyhterin will do EVERYTHING for love and loved ones (Remember Snape or Narcissa?) This is even more clear if you choose to not learn the curses and then ask him to learn crucio or avada kedavra later , he will say "Are you sure? After what happened?" showing clearly that he regrets everything he did. Plus, if you betray him he will be sent to Azkaban and will turn even more bitter, while if you stay with him until the end, he will change his mind, he wil thank you for being a real friend and ask for your forgiveness.
He and Poppy are my fav characters by far.

I actually did a Tom Riddle playthrough when first doing this questline.
First I decided to learn crucio and use it on Sebastian.
Then i decided to learn imperius the first chance i got.
After that i used it on Ominus.
I decided to learn avada kedavra the first chance i got.
And then i decided to turn in Sebastian.
I mean if he gets sent to Azkaban he can't come after me for pushing him into learning me the curses. For me telling him to continue on his quest. For me putting him in Azkaban after all of it was done. And after that Ominus needed a new best friend. And ofc i would become his new best friend. How nice of me. Helping a friend in need. But ofcourse i did it for my own gain. I mean he is family to Salazar Slytherin. Ominus knows how to speak parseltongue. He is a parselmouth. And i well i found the entrance to the chamber of secrets. So ofcourse i'm just using him to open it and after that happens i'll just use the basalisk to destroy all my enemies. Ofcourse at the end of main story i took the power for myself but still i could use the beast of slytherin if i get tired of killing all the wizards myself.
learning the 3 curses is important, but also learning how and when to use them is also important.

@@TrueInvisible I think the wand core thing was a dumber plot device. Voldemort bypassed the ancient magic and then got blocked anyway for three years because even stealing a new wand still triggered the protective magic that kept saving Harry's skin.
Rowling deadass wrote a book series about magic school and let the plot get carried by mysterious magic that nobody apparantly figured out and which always shows up just when it's convenient.

For those of you who don't know why the main characters' voice sounds wrong, it's a glitch that is being fixed right now. If you need to fix it right now, go into the settings= sound=then find pitch=put the dial into the middle and it'll fix it right away.

I kind of disagree. The unforgivables are OP like no other, and nicely represents the "easy" way. I felt like a bad guy for using them up until I realized they had no actual consequences. That removed my immersion unfortunately. Now I won't think twice before casting AK on any enemy.
@@Mortenen It will impact the dialogue and the way your friends see you when you use them in front of them. Apparently there are also 3 endings to the game, a bad one, good one and a mix-ish if you will..
@@Dylantuning1995 False. There are only 2 endings and they are almost the same. Moreover, unforgivables do not affect ending, you decide which ending to choose before the last boss.

What I think stupid in Harry Potter Universe is that you can burn people alive, explose them, and doing many letal Curses without them being a problem, but when you want to just kill someone (or an animals) straight up without making him suffer, its Unforgivable....

@@lunaghost9267 There's no counter to Avada Kedavra. The damage you do with normal spells can be undone, with the Killing Curse, the damage is immediate and permanent.

Curses can't be healed except for a counter curse, which may not even exist in some cases

My brother did not get the three spells after finishing In the Shadow of the Relic. Is there any other way to learn all spells or does he have to make another playthrough? he wasn't really paying attention to the dialogue choices and just picked the first option. After the In the Shadow of the Relic we couldn't find him anymore in the Undercroft
He has to choose to not turn him in, in the next quest. Then he'll be able to learn them

the absolute hate in the player character's voice when he casts crucio is what I live for in dark runs, its just a shame the dialogue for wanting to cast the unforgivables doesn't change how the player character's dialogue reacts to the spell, itd be such a cool thing for the player character to go from "are you okay?" to a creepy smile or something after a while of choosing dark magic.
even having a certain threshold before dark magic changes the player character's dialogue would be fucking awesome

I wanted to learn all of the casts, and for that I needed the unforgibable, but I didn't want to be "evil" so I just made the choices I needed to learn them and then send Sebastian to Azkaban for his unforgivable crimes.

I picked the option to learn the cruciatus curse and have Seb cast it on my Ravenclaw. I thought it would be a ravenclaw thing to know what it feels like and how to cast it. I had planned to have her never use it, but I ended up doing it once or twice for dueling feats (crucio on a burning enemy)
one thing to help you figure out if stumped:
What to pick if your character is a sadist: learn crucio.
if you're a masochist: have Seb cast it on you
Both masochist and sadist: learn and have him cast on you.
