Hi Dave we only properly met on that terrible night. I was one of the two people who was present when the fire started. For anyone who thinks that it could have been any different it could have only been worse. The mechanic who desperately tried extinguish the fire was within seconds of being overcome by incredibly toxic fumes. If he had hesitated a moment longer he would not be with us today. The fire alarm sounded at 20:46 by 20:55 a ball of flames was covering the workshop roof and the offices. The fire brigade arrived at 21:00 and worked tirelessly to save what they could. The firefighters themselves were petrolheads too. They were so determined to save what they could. It meant something to them, the fire was just too big. Nobody could have done more. It’s tragic for all involved.
Personally I’ve nothing but great admiration by your own leadership and determination to carry on. I’ve no doubt you and your team have what it takes to come back from this.
When you’re going through hell, keep going.

Cars are inanimate objects, just a collection of metal and plastic, but to true car people, they are so much more. Really sorry for your loss.
Being an object doesn't mean having no value tho. I would definitely run back into my flaming house to save some of my possessions if it was me. I have sentimental attachments to a lot of things I own, gifts from people I love, stuff I saved up to buy, old stuff I had for so long and so on

It's not sympathy Dave, it's genuine love and admiration. You guys have built a community, so many people from all walks of life and the world flock to your content, you're real, relatable, dedicated and absolutely amazing to watch. Me and my OH watch both you and Jimmy Oakes content religiously, please don't let your pride knock back the love of your community, you all deserve it.
I hadn't heard of you guys until this morning, when CZcams randomly suggested the fire video to me. My husband lost almost everything he owned in a house fire a couple years before we met, and he lost so many collector items that can't easily be replaced, nor would insurance really cover all of them (guns, rookie cards, family items, etc.). It's jaded him against collecting stuff now; it's rare that he finds something he wants to keep for posterity because he's so scared of it happening again, even ~15 years later. Sometimes all we can do is rise above the ashes like the phoenix and carry on stronger than before.

Like I said after the “disaster video” I’m a 53 year old man and I didn’t mind admitting that I cried watching everything you had burn to the ground but, on a brighter note, I firmly believe, that Drift Games will rebuild and be bigger and better than ever before. Yes it will off course take time but I no doubt, whatsoever, that you will all make this happen and your positivity, your determination and your mindset will win the day.

Things can be replaced, lives can not. You guys did the right thing by not rushing in there to save the cars. I can only imagine how painful this has been for you. You guys have your lives and that's what's important.
for those thinking you should've had this or that or whatever, once the fire hit the first car, there was no system that could prevent this disaster, it did take 7 trucks to put it out, we are just thankful everyone is physically ok

Especially when you worked on most of the cars to improve it...but a garage can be a very dangerous place...my cousin have a garage who burned once because of welding we believe because they weld something the morning and the fire started at 2pm and they lived the garage 10am...it took 4 hours to burn we saw it on the cameras...something similar happened to a French youtuber called "la boiserie" they weld something on a BMW the morning and few hours later the car was on fire...shit happen

Use that excuse of Ireland not providing the correct legislation and insurance options. It’s 2024 and many countries have ways of insuring niche, sue the government…(I know how impossible that is and we the people never win. )

I’m not a drift guy but I am a car guy and I respect the passion you guys put into the cars and that amazing garage. I also spent 10 years as a firefighter/paramedic in the US which is probably why youtube recommended that particular video to me. I’m glad no one was hurt but the loss you’ve suffered is huge. I’m glad you’re giving yourself some time to grieve it. This cartoon canine Heeler from Australia once said: have a little cry, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep going. Sounds like you’re no stranger to doing that and you’ve already got a plan. You’ve earned a sub from me to watch Drift Games rise like a Phoenix and I plan to order some merch here soon to help make that happen.
If you're new here check out some of their other videos, they have a really unique take on the automotive world because they organize and run events more than they build cars. A lot of their videos are focused around the behind the scenes stuff of what goes into putting on these shows and competitions. Check out their DMEC finals videos from a while back, they built a racetrack inside a soccer stadium in Poland, put on a massive competition for 55k people, and tore it all down in 4 days. Their cars are super cool but it's their passion as car people that really makes them top tier.
@@Joebobinator I love BTS looks at other industries like this. So I’m excited to see how the company is rebuilt from this but to also see where they came from as I go back through the catalog. They seem like a cool group of regular car dudes doing amazing stuff.

I had a shop fire about 15 years ago. Since I was in the US, I was covered completely. I lost race cars, parts, and everything else, but I was covered down to the last nut and bolt. I couldn't imagine being in Dave's situation.

You don't have to accept an Irish policy. You goto a Lloyd's and they will cover you. You just pay a premium for what you want cover for.
My policy covers me to drive unregistered vehicles on the road. Police can stop you, but your insured. Mot or tax is civil not criminal.
I understand the pride, but bro, you have a dedicated community that loves you and appreciates all that you do for the community; please, please be open to all the help that approaches you. We all want to see you and lads come back, bigger, stronger, and better than you were before. We all love you and the other lads and we've got yalls backs.

The difference in this set back compared to the previous one is that you guys have 4 years more experience, 4 years more visibility and awareness, 4 years more fans, 4 years more friends within the niche and industry. You will build back, you will have the love and support of everyone you have provided joy and entertainment to with your content and events. Yes in the immediate aftermath it feels like a dark time, the light will shine again and it will shine brighter. I look forward to your guys bathing in that light in the near future.

I can 💯 understand what you are saying. Lost my wife the beginning of 2020 and then covid took my businesses and I had to leave the dream home we built. I'm starting over now and it's so hard not to get frustrated but just stay patient.

From Cancer to Covid to This, Idk how you guys find the zeal to rise out of the ashes but you all are truly inspiring. Seeing all the event passes and trophies and parts that had sentimental value gone truly was drowning. Never stop Drift Games, never stop. The roof collapsed on our 8 bay auto repair shop in September and insurance has refused to cover it. We’re working out of an RV and two rented bays 4 miles down the street. I now only see my family on the weekend until we can find a new location. When you said “is this something we’re just not meant to have no matter how hard we work for it” that hit very close to home.
Seeing everything I poured the last 14 years of my life evaporate over something that we didn’t even do is the worst feeling I’ve experienced in as long as I can remember. I’m sorry for what you guys are going through. To accomplish what you have already must mean you guys are serious fighters. You can do it!

I think it's fair to say that the goodwill you guys have earned in the community is insane. You guys are genuine hard workers and the support shown by everyone across the world is one of the many fruits of your labor of love towards drifting.

You guys are the greatest example of what the car community can be, so after all these years the community yearns to pay this back and help in anyway it can.
Dave, I’ve lost everything in an apartment fire before and a lot of this resonated with me. Dealing with insurance blows and the whole process of getting back on you feet can feel so defeating. It took me almost a year to let it go. Give yourself and the team time man. You guys are great and what you do brings so many people together. The community you’ve created is where the real value is, remember that.
Well that decided it then….coming to Ireland for the next event.

I've learned in the last 12 years since moving to Ireland... this is 100% the way the Irish are!! Absolute fighters and genuinely lovely people.
They'll Complain about the weather and taxation (haha both are equally terrible), but life-altering situations and hurdles... you probably won't hear a peep outside, "ah sure... you know yourself."
You guys have very much delivered on the genuineness and "We have the passion." That's why we watch! Keep doing what you're doing: building amazing cars, bringing motorsport to Ireland and the world, also making people laugh.

It’s been a sad week to be a car enthusiast but seeing everyone’s generosity makes me very proud to be a car enthusiast.

I’ve been through this personally. Had my own garage catch fire on a family farm and there was nothing I could do. Lost all my tools, my years of hard work searching for parts, building my car, painting it myself and even finding the car in the first place. The insurance company paid as little as they could get away with and even today I’ve never been back to the mess and I still haven’t been able to bring myself to build another car

You all will need a lot of mental strength through this.
