I lost a car to thieves who torched it when they were done. I found the burnt out shell the next morning and the smell of a burnt out car is something I'll never forget. Things will get better though and you'll rebuild.
Same and it fucking blows. My trusty 12 hyundai accent "blue" (super creative name i know) we think it was for the hyundai/kia challenge as they were all 3 juveniles. I had him all his life just put in 3k for all his major fixes/maintenance and only about a month later he got burned up. I have since gotten a new car but i still miss him had a lot of life left (90k miles) and i LOVED how he drove.
I had a friend lose their house to a fire. I was there when it started (parents boyfriend was heating oil for frying and forgot about it, I was actually the first person to smell it) and helped them cleaning out the remains of the house over the next weeks. This was 25 years ago. I'll never forget that smell. To this day even a slight whiff of that smell makes me sick to my stomach. Never smelled a burnt out car, but I imagine that it is similar.
The smell of fire like that is something you never forget, a few years ago, my neighbor set my house on fire while I was asleep inside it, I woke up to flames, that is something that sticks with you

My house burned down in 2010, so I know exactly what you are feeling. It's going to be a long road to recovery, but I wish you the smoothest and quickest journey possible.
The great thing is that everyone in the Drift Games team is safe and sound. The lesson from this incident is the importance of having multiple backups and that includes offsite backups.
Thankfully they don't have to flee hundreds of miles with the clothes on their back because some evil country drone strikes their house. But that kind of thing never happens..
Me too don't know anything about these guys, their life, or content however, I find myself way too often putting myself in others position to try to understand but this one leaves u speechless and makes anyone want to help in anyway. The fact that I got this as a first video opening youtube I take it as a sign that no matter what anyone's day looks like there's always someone else going thru something worse. This is the first video I've seen from y'all so I don't know the full impact that the fire had, but it's still very sad to see. Given the abundance of life and happiness in the building before, it's clear as day to see that you all had a lot of effort and passion that burnt that night. I know that whenever you see anything you put a lot of work into, that you are very passionate about, and that you take pride in, go up in flames (literally or figuratively), it is very demoralizing for everyone involved, and not many people talk about that. So I just want to say this: Don't give up. Don't let this stop you from achieving great things. This may be a pretty big setback but the journey keeps going. I get the sense that y'all have built a great community between yourselves, so be sure to rely on each other if you start to feel stressed or overwhelmed. Even just seeing the other comments tells me that there are many people that are willing to stick it out with you guys and hope to see you bounce back from this, me included. 10 years of footage gone....a timely reminder for anyone reading the comments that you need to also have off-site backups of any data you don't want to lose. When you rebuild make sure you get offsite backup sorted.
@@marksapollo doesn't even need to be cloud-based. A safe in the basement containing tapes or hard drives is still quite common for sensitive data. Cloud excels when you have multiple locations or want mobile teams using a common infrastructure.
@@MrHaggyy I was just thinking of stuff like One Drive or Drop Box, it’s better than nothing at all. But absolutely a safe too for your tapes is good. A lot of people will pay a couple of quid for cloud storage from their phones or home computers for photos and stuff, but they forget about the business stuff from their workplace or office.

People definitely donate though if though if you can and want to, insurance pay pay them a fraction of the lost value but it can take months or years to see anything. I don't have much but I bought a shirt, there's a tip section in there to add more if you want.

A fire in a garage is probably one of the worst case scenarios, and even just the rundown of the inventory destroyed in this fire in your garage, let alone the cars in your neighbors' garage is heartbreaking to imagine. Hearing an RX-7 and a Corvette are among the vehicle casualties hit me pretty hard in the feels - they're dream cars for me, and I can't begin to imagine how horrendous it would be to lose either of those if I owned and worked on them. I hope you find a way onward and upward, you and your neighbors.
Well, as a grown man of 53 years of age, who has followed your journey for the past 2 years or more, I don’t mind admitting that I am watching this in tears. Is it because of the beautiful building being destroyed, no. Is it because the most incredible collection of cars in Ireland has been destroyed, no. Is it because all your merch, cameras, computers, tools, lighting equipment and everything in that building is destroyed?, no. It is simply because I see the destruction in you guys eyes and in your voices. I am totally devastated for you but this is maybe a lesson for us all that all these things are superficial, they can and will be rebuilt bigger and better. What can’t be rebuilt is someone’s life, God forbid, if someone had have lost their life and, if that’s not the positive in this situation and the catalyst to rebuild I don’t know what is. Regarding the footage, See if you can find any hard drive you had, and send them to a forensic data recovery place, it is amazing what they can pull off, even if the drives have been in a fire. It might not get it all, or even anything, but it's seriously worth a shot if you don't have offsite backup in any way. The great thing is that everyone in the Drift Games team is safe and sound. The lesson from this incident is the importance of having multiple backups and that includes offsite backups.
Thankfully they don't have to flee hundreds of miles with the clothes on their back because some evil country drone strikes their house. But that kind of thing never happens..

This is the first video I've seen from y'all so I don't know the full impact that the fire had, but it's still very sad to see. Given the abundance of life and happiness in the building before, it's clear as day to see that you all had a lot of effort and passion that burnt that night. I know that whenever you see anything you put a lot of work into, that you are very passionate about, and that you take pride in, go up in flames (literally or figuratively), it is very demoralizing for everyone involved, and not many people talk about that. So I just want to say this: Don't give up. Don't let this stop you from achieving great things. This may be a pretty big setback but the journey keeps going. I get the sense that y'all have built a great community between yourselves, so be sure to rely on each other if you start to feel stressed or overwhelmed. Even just seeing the other comments tells me that there are many people that are willing to stick it out with you guys and hope to see you bounce back from this, me included. I hope you can get back into the swing of things soon!

Yes, even if it's cloud based just do it! Lots of solutions out there.
@@marksapollo doesn't even need to be cloud-based. A safe in the basement containing tapes or hard drives is still quite common for sensitive data. Cloud excels when you have multiple locations or want mobile teams using a common infrastructure.
@@MrHaggyy I was just thinking of stuff like One Drive or Drop Box, it’s better than nothing at all. But absolutely a safe too for your tapes is good. A lot of people will pay a couple of quid for cloud storage from their phones or home computers for photos and stuff, but they forget about the business stuff from their workplace or office.

Oh jeez, never seen you guys before, but this video came across my feed. I am so sorry you, and your neighbors, went through this. A fire in a garage is probably one of the worst case scenarios, and even just the rundown of the inventory destroyed in this fire in your garage, let alone the cars in your neighbors' garage is heartbreaking to imagine. Hearing an RX-7 and a Corvette are among the vehicle casualties hit me pretty hard in the feels - they're dream cars for me, and I can't begin to imagine how horrendous it would be to lose either of those if I owned and worked on them. I hope you find a way onward and upward, you and your neighbors.

Well, as a grown man of 53 years of age, who has followed your journey for the past 2 years or more, I don’t mind admitting that I am watching this in tears. Is it because of the beautiful building being destroyed, no. Is it because the most incredible collection of cars in Ireland has been destroyed, no. Is it because all your merch, cameras, computers, tools, lighting equipment and everything in that building is destroyed?, no.
It is simply because I see the destruction in you guys eyes and in your voices.
I am totally devastated for you but this is maybe a lesson for us all that all these things are superficial, they can and will be rebuilt bigger and better. What can’t be rebuilt is someone’s life, God forbid, if someone had have lost their life and, if that’s not the positive in this situation and the catalyst to rebuild I don’t know what is.

I have lost everything I had in a house fire not just once.. but twice.
The pain this video made me feel in just 10 seconds of watching it is unreal. It's like I'm rememberimg those nights all over again... Seeing my mom cry gutted me & seeing my neighbors take pictures & videos pissed me off. Even the news reporters showing up pissed me off. Because they don't care. They don't understand. I just found you guys when you first opened this shop and I thought man, you guys made a masterpiece out of it. This is truly heartbreaking to see. Regarding the footage, See if you can find any hard drive you had, and send them to a forensic data recovery place, it is amazing what they can pull off, even if the drives have been in a fire.
It might not get it all, or even anything, but it's seriously worth a shot if you don't have offsite backup in any way.
