People who say you should ride everywhere in eco mode- you funny bro
If you are going to ride more than gravel paths/fireroads/commute, I'd strongly recommend staying away from hard tail eMTB. The unsuspended weight makes for a horrible experience.
I took a good hard tail and put a mid-drive kit on it - kit works great but the extra unsuspended weight of the kit and battery turned it into a terrible off-roader that shook bolts loose that had never come loose before.
Keep saving and get a full suspension eMTB
I live in San Diego CA. I always find it interesting when I hear the city officials saying they are building new affordable housing. Starting at $700,000. The average cost of a home here is over one million dollars. Seven hundred thousand is the new 100K? I tried to tell my wife that new Canyon Grail on gravel e-bike was a steel at $4000.00. She did not buy it. I did. Now I'm grounded with lots of honey do's on the list now. Barely have time to ride. That's what I tell her anyway...
Luved seeing that clip of you and Hans Rey doing Jacobs Ladder again Steve 👍 FYI it was a challenge that was mastered by many way back before ebikes ...if I'm not mistaken notably by local legend Nick Craig (Scott)...but you're right about the area, The Peak is well up there with any other area in the UK for natural riding 👍👍
Those Static bikes look excellent.
Especially like the green with red fork.❤
Many affordable eMTBs on the market atm from good brands. You can get a carbon Trek Fuel exe for under 4k. Orbea Rise alloy for 3k to name a couple.
Way better, the new orbea wild
What about the specific emtb climb at Bike park Wales? That one is a hell of a challenge without putting a foot down!
If you get to lee quarry, there's plenty of techy emtb climbs that are great. All about technique.
Taiwan bike had some really nice looking bikes at great prices. My guess is that some of them are for wholesale market and not retail. They want you to buy 1000 units (at that low price) and slap your brand name on them.
I’ll stick to riding down Jacob’s Ladder thanks. Plenty tough enough. 😝
10.58 - Not wanting to be a pedant, but to be a pedant: it's the White LINE in Sedona AZ... the White RIM is a 100 mile long-distance trail in the Canyonlands National Park, near Moab UT.
I got my specalized turbo tero 3.0 on sale at €1875 reduced from €3400
I don’t have an emtb , but plan on getting one ,
Guys I know who I trust their opinions tell me the lightweight ones tend to be a bit limited compared to the heavier ones in the rough stuff and in their opinions not worth the trade off to sacrifice the weight .
Where is the uploaded? I have a sweet pic of my emtb I want to share
I see steve agrees with me ebike are bikes !! You can pedal them in eco and even off on the flat turbo is great but it’s a lot more versatile machine . Could it be a gravel bike for a different day as well as a down hill and enduro machine . Still think the Coedy penmachno and Marin on a 750 battery is a good test as Neil did this on a normal bike so a good bench mark for a long ride . Rich is mad enough to try !!
To me the best part is getting to ride a big travel bike on trails that could use that much travel but reg enduro bike is too heavy. I now prefer big travel at all times now that I rode 160mm emtb lol
Aventon hardtail emtb @ $2,700 🤔 How about a Full Suspension Stance E+2 @ $3,200
Nice show! 👍
Aventon is a marketing company not a bike company 🤷🏼♂️
Can you please explain the relationship between watts and N-m in a bike motor? I don't understand how a 250 Watt motor can generate 85 N-m (as in the Shimano) while a 400-600 watt Bosch SX generates 55 N-m.
If i remember physics lessons correctly then equation is quite simple: Power = Torque * RPM. RPM units in this case are radians/s.
Double the reduction of the gearing or transmission will x by 2 the torque neglecting frictional losses.
I think the confusion is that the watts are referring to 2 different things. So all motors are capped at a max of 250 watts as an average power output, however most motors are capable of exceeded this in short bursts. To the best of my knowledge the software in the motor eavens out the power to an average of max 250 watts constant output over an hour. Therefore the 600w figure you refer to is peak output whilst the shimano figure was average output. Its best to just refer to the Nm figures for the best comparison between motors as that gives the best idea of how hard the motor will feel like it's pushing you up the hill.
Anyone else enjoy seeing Steve fall off ?😂
The norco is expensive but cheaper than the Whyte sl you guys been plugging
ABS was talked-up to be a HUGE leap forward BUT we've heard nothing more for a couple years now??? Please investigate
Now for the affordable e bikes, 1st one starts at £5500 😂😂😂
Love those static bikes. Defo my next E-bike
Where's the new guy???
Do you mean Owen? 🤔
@@embn No, Adam Walda?
If you want a deal, you get a second hand mtb. Last week I got a e-mtb for 1/3 of the sticker price and it's a beast.
Nice! What bike did you get?
@@embn I can upload a picture of it. Where should I upload the picture?
Static may be the worst brand name for a bicycle company.....
Green machine ?? rubbish mudguards.
If they keep the majority of winter muck off the bike until summer finally arrives then not too rubbish although they ruin the look of any bike 😎
@@Nomads_Rowing 10% at best is not a majority
Definitely stops more than that on the front, the back not so well but better than 0% Tom
I cleaned Jacobs Ladder on an old Marin Mount Vision in the late 90s. Are we being lazy these days with ebikes?
That's pretty impressive! 👏
@@embn Don't think I could do it now four stone later.
