Id like to see it in highschool or college level to see what it did. Even in highschool we were using indicators (skin on skin) to know when signaling was 'real' and when it was just motions. In college it got even more complicated. It's a lot more involved than a sequence.
The ML, the application, the explanation... all awesome.

if anyone else can do this let me know, but whenin the dugout every half inning, I can often pickup on the signs by just watching their third base coach a couple of times. all you really need is two specific movements. their activator, and their action sign. I've helped my team win games a couple of times by calling pickoffs, bunt defense, ect. it's pretty cool how easy it actually is, atleast for me.

All MLB teams start downloading app and watching old games for signs.
Mlb teams change their signs from game to game so things like this dont happen. And you cant do it during a game because usually a MLB team steals 0-3 times a game.

No one on the teams should really have a smart phone anyway. They are there to play a game not play on their phone. This includes the coaches. I say if someone on a team can figure out the signs in their head more power to them. That's part of the game. The audience can use Mark's app if they really want to. I just want people to play a game, follow the rules and have a lot of fun.
@@christiaanbrown4278 I mean, this is the 21st century. Most teams have tablets that they track stats and score the games with anyway. It wouldn't look out of place at all to have the guy with the Steal Sign tablet sitting next to the guy using the Pitch Tracking tablet, the guy with the Scorebook tablet, and the guy with the Hitter's Tendency/Spray Chart tablet

When I played back in the early 60s in little league we had no signs. Third base coaches were there to stop or keep running going to 2nd and 3rd.

what if i told you instead of each of the neurons (the circles) having a dial, it was actually that each of the connections (strings) had a dial.
Neural nets are so complex, even people who work with them only really understand them on the surface. If you were to read the code that the algorithm comes up with, it'd be almost illegible. It's usually clear that it works, but it's not immediately obvious WHY it works.

After watching this a second time I realized the way to break the algorithm is by using signs that can be misinterpreted. An indicator such as a pinch can be done anywhere on the body. I feel like if you really think about it you’ll find clever ways to out-beat the program. Most of what I could think of is anything human which is subjective to each person.
That's why you still need people. When the system can't find a pattern an actual person has to realize that its not just touches but touches and pinches and swipes being used on different body parts and fix the input data to include that extra layer.

You can also use a number system and have a wristband for each player

baseball is pretty simple. some complicated rules that even i after 30+ years couldnt explain or understand lol. but that stuff comes up maybe once in 100 years... so whatever. and yes even the umps screw them calls up usually lol. but overall its basic.

It’s less complicated than football
each team gets 9 turns to bat. Your turn ends when you get 3 outs. You get an out if you get 3 strikes, if you're running to the next base and the ball gets there first, or if someone touches you with the ball when you're not on a base. Or if you hit the ball and someone catches it before it hits the ground. If they hit the ball and you leave your base and someone catches it in air, you have to go back to the base you were on. If the ball gets there first, you're out too. Oh, and if you're out, that means you leave the field and sit back down on the bench, you don't get to keep running.
When you hit the ball you have to run to the first base. If you're on a base and a teammate is running to your base, YOU have to run to the NEXT base. Basically because you can't have 2 people on one base at a time. You have to run the bases in order (can't go backwards). If you go around all the bases you score a run (point). The team with most runs at the end of the 9 innings (turns) wins.
That's like 90% of what you need to know. There's some stuff I didn't cover like foul balls and bunting and stealing (but Mark explained that already!) but you'll understand enough to be able to ask a question of someone if you see something you don't understand.
Human that cant figure out a problem makes a robot that can. It just doesn't make sense in my head but it is super cool.

A huge problem of this is determining what is relevant signing. Does the arm matter? The finger? The standing position? Sunglasses position? Most higher level baseball has more complicated signs

i just went on the website and used it, had an indicator, but had a sign where it meant everything was off, and it couldn't predict my steal sign and my no steal sign. I think that might have been the way i used the signs but yeah.

Wouldn't getting rid of the indicator and randomly predetermine a indicator for the indicator i.e. 4th sign is now indicator , then 2nd sign , then 5 , or odd odd even be sufficient? The code key randomness is basic of cryptography and cant easily be broken without excess data thus not enough time in one inning . Could write the 4, 2, 5 , etc on everyone wristband and randomly swap every inning?
