    About the game:
Satisfactory is an upcoming factory simulation game created by Swedish video game developer Coffee Stain Studios. It is a 3D first-person open world exploration and factory building game. The player, a pioneer, is dropped onto an alien planet with a handful of tools and must harvest the planet's natural resources to construct increasingly complex factories for automating all resource needs. The initial goal is to build a space elevator and begin supplying the company the player works for (FICSIT Inc.) with increasingly numerous and complex components for their unknown purposes. Those exports unlock new buildings that make the next export possible.
Satisfactory was made available for early access on 19 March 2019 on the Epic Games Store, and 8 June 2020 on Steam, with cross-platform multiplayer. The factory building aspect of the game has been described as a first-person and 3D version of Factorio. Unlike most other sandbox games like Factorio, the Satisfactory world is pre-generated; every player's map is identical. The game is set on an alien planet named "Massage-2(A-B)b" and the playable area is limited to 30 km2.

I've been running almost parallel in progress to you but I started in the Jungle Biome. I used the 3 oil nodes there to feed a 100 Oil Plants Turbo Fuel since coal and sulfur are close enough to that spawn. I'll eventually ditch it for a massive repack oil setup on the West Coast nodes when I need to ramp up my sulfur acid, but thats a long ways off. Anyway loving the vids. Makes for good white noise and insight while belting.

I've mentioned before I barely dabbled in this game around it's original release so it's been such a learning experience this time around especially going further!
Definitely looking to try out this Turbo Fuel people mention seems highly space saving 🙂

I always use a fluid buffer and valve in parallel when coming out of a fluid manifold. This helps prevent back flow sloshing and is a good general all-purpose fix-it for fluid flow problems

I'm not sure if you have figured this out already cause I'm new to the channel but if you press R when placing the lifts it will change the direction of the material. Also don't forget about the nudge feature. Press H after you put an item don't before you press the mouse button it will allow you to nudge items before you permanently place them. Hope this helps. Great stuff so far.

When you were planning the refineries I was already thinking you were way underestimating how much space 100 fuel power plants would take :) They are huge

I definitely should've done some pre planning because I had place down the original platforms just using zoop so I had to delete them all so slowly in groups of 50!

I been struggling with fueling a 100 generators for a week. I ended up with a similar lay-out but had to put valves infront of the generators and a tube all the way from the front split off feeding the back. Also a raised industrial buffer and a pump for a little backups. Pre load the pipes. All the pipes, before turning the generators on.
I'd love to show you in my savegame.

Well that was quite the process! I think there is a pipe valve that prevents back slushing. One way valves essentially. By using those, you should be able to direct the flow. Thank you! Cheers!

Good stuff. I have a bet with myself now on when you will notice the refinery you put down 3rd in the last line (11:56) is just off a little. (Which won't effect anything other than your own sense of proportionality so no big deal if you never see it.) The junctions clicked in at first because there were just a couple options for them to click to at first. But the further dowen the line you went the more options they had. The last couple should click as well because there would be less options at the end. Most things have pretty large and tending toward very forgiving hit boxes to click within. Which can be a blessing if you want to click and have larger things like constructors you are clicking, or a curse for the smaller things like junctions.
1:53:00 ish. Aristotle. Nature abhors a vacumm. The place you split the one line to merge with the other lines. Perfect. Except you didn't account for those other lines seeing those pipes as vacumm available for them to fill. It is easy to think and see things flowing in one direction when you are planning for that one direction. But with fluid dynamics in this game you must remember, there are at least two directions for every pipe. So yes you had 1 pipe splitting 200 to each of the other pipes. And each of those pipes were trying to split 200 right back to that one. Which pipe was having to back up problem? The one that had 200 going left, 200 going right, and 200 trying to come from the left and 200 trying to come from the right. It would eventually balance out unless the backup shut down the refineries and caused YoYo effect issues. Your solution is better than waiting and hoping, add a buffer to help with correcting the direction and the valves obviously. (You can drain Pipe Section and that only gets the immediate section. Clipping that one section off and draining behind it would have worked, but things were so backed up it looked like they were still full though they only refilled that quickly.)
I am not suggesting this as a change at this point, just something to consider for future builds perhaps. I like to minimize the piping needed to get to the final machine in any line. I would have run the vertical pipes at or very near the center of the generators rows. Then I would have run Mk1 pipes in each direction off those vertical junction. So 300 to each side. But that doesn't math right. 300/12=25 but from the middle I would have 24 on one side, 26 on the other. Again our old buddy Aristotle saves us. That vacumm left on one side will be filled soon enough. There is exactly what it needs trying to go the other direction but sees the vacumm and what does nature think about vacumm? You could actually break it down even further, right down to a single input from each Mk2 pipe directly lifted to each gen. But that would be massive overkill, IMO.
I also would have looked into cutting back on the number of gens by overclocking some. That would also help with the split I mentioned before. Break it down into what fuel you have. 600 per pipe. Split like I mentioned so 300 per pipe. If you only OC one bank of gens after that split you can max OC 10 gens to consume that 300 fuel. 20 gens would take care of the whole 600 fuel pipe. Meaning if you had 120 shards you could do 40 gens at 30 fuel per, 1200 fuel. Same output. I don't have nearly that many shards and don't think you do either, but save a little here and there is good too. Much smaller build and less headache than that 100 gens. Of course, you could still adjust piping and use those other nodes and OC just enough gens not to need to add any more. That might be a quick and easy way to pick up more power.
I don't know how much power is needed. You are about where I am powerwise and to be honest I have never gone much past where you are now myself. Never done nuke. I have gotten that far but skipped important things to that point so just quit because correcting things would have been a grind. I am right around 60 hours in the current session and just bumped power to the 15,000 mw myself. I could advance to the next tier, but am going back now, touching up things, making changes based on recipes I have found, building rail and road networks. Tier 4 can wait this time until I am more than ready to get there. I also want to pause and do some asthetics work, make things look better. I might be another 60 hours before I advance to the next tier mostly because I travel around building satelite factories some. One thing I do know is Aluminum and the rest you need next tier is a lot of work to get set up well. So I want to be at the point when I do start setting things up, I can just roll for a while.
On the power issue though. I am going over where you are with that plant and setting up a secondary plant myself soon. Maybe not 15000mw from there but more power. There is a coal node or 2 nearby so I am thinking petroleum coke and coal for several coal gens there. Not sure how many but I could see as many as 40 and maybe the same in fuel gens. That would be 9000 mw power. Once that is done, going to the two other places I know of with oil to do much the same. Goal is on the order of 40,000 mw before I really look to aluminum and beyond.

I think I must have cut out moving the last refineries because I did catch that part.
I got a little too excited with this build and went in unprepared but it's all a good learning experience and now that I have plenty of power I can slow things back down and take it easier for a little bit.
I also agree about over clocking and should probably consider that more in builds going forward to be honest I didn't realize how much space some things can take up in bigger builds lol
See you in the next one 🙏

@@CheffreyPlaysGames One thing I did forget to mention as well. When running pipes and finding them not connecting, remember to try to reverse the direction. Meaning instead of going refinery to junction, try junction to refinery. Again a hit box issue but I have found that to be a simple and effective solution to problems I might have otherwise rebuilt half a factory over.

Also, they really need to add some sort of indicator to buildings such as refineries, that shows what is causing the output to stop. Is it the fluid output that halts it? Is the solid output backed up? Has the input stopped? Its impossible to tell at a glance now and makes it really hard to diagnose problems when a refinery just stops.

    • @CheffreyPlaysGames
      @CheffreyPlaysGames  Před 2 měsíci
