Was it actually the show's band drummer who did it live? 1:41 I kept and will keep coming back to this - I love how it makes my heart beat just a bit faster. I thought it was amazing! The drummer was just being careful not to overpower(outshine) the contestant's singing until the end.

That’s not a good choice for his voice!
Not a single critical comment. It's a strange. This performance is not impressive and ordinary! Also the arrangement of the song is not cool. If you listened Phil Collins you immediately understand this! You feels full emotions, ocean of emotions, cascade of feelings. It's like a pray, pray from the heart, appeal to God! But in this performance, I feel nothing, only apathy and coldness. As if a person doesn't understand what he is singing about. At the culmination, he screams, he tries to make something like emotions, but It's only outwardly. Why is that? Because nothing happens inside, in the inner space, in the soul! This is a mechanical memorized performance of the song.

You literally don’t know shit about singing, this kid is a baritone with a developed range which is very uncommon in todays music and especially this show is mostly tenors.
