Thanks, I actually only set it up for the purposes of the video, I’m more of a badminton player. For that all I track is calories, time and HR but for tennis you could try GPS if you are outside and then you could see distance covered.
I dont own a garmin but I am definately looking at this for my next smart watch. My Fitbit doesnt allow me to make custom activities with GPS tracking. I would love to add Disc Golf instead of walking, or hiking so I can seperate activites but also see the GPS. Fitbit is so behind the times now.
Thanks for the video! I have a question, once you sync your squash activity on Garmin Connect it will show as cardio (or the activity you copied the new activity from) and then you'll have to manually update it, right? Or is there a way to have GC recognize the new activity?
It will show on GC as whatever you named the activity no need to update it. The only thing you won't get is a filter option in the activities list like you do for some of the existing sports.
@@chrisguess i copied a 'Run' profile to use with XC Skiing and even if I call this activity profile 'Cross Country Skate Skiing' (the GC name) it still shows up as a run. I tested some different names also (Walking, Cycling) and they will all show up as a Run in GC since that is the profile I based it on. So perhaps I misunderstood your reply here because it doesn't seem as if the name matters. The problem is, has the OP asked, if it is possible to get GC to categorize it to the correct activity type? (It is a pain to have to manually edit both the GC activity AND the Strava synced version over to XC Skiing every time). Thanks! 😊
@@nebukanezer73 has anyone solved how to update the category of their Custom event (in my case, a "copied" walk modified to "Hike") so that the activity lists as a Hike in both Garmin Connect and Strava? All my hiking activities captured via my 245M still list as "walk" in GC and Strava. 😢

It should come up like any other activity. In both the activity calendar and on your ‘my day’ view on the day you do the activity. Plus it all goes to your daily figures, calories burned etc.
Good video, most of the steps do also work for the Venu 2 except Naming the activity. Venu 2 does not include that option and I'm probably going to change the Venu 2 for the Forerunner because the watch does not allow for to much customization.
Hi Chris. I have an issue. Refurbished 245 out of box. When I select or open a workout, the screen is unreadable. Ever see this kind of thing and do you have a fix?
Hi Chris! (I absolutely can't choose from Garmin Fr 245 music and Coros Pace 2. I've seen the comments under your previous videos that some other people have this dilemma as well and that u are thinking about making a video compairing them. That would be cool.) I'm interested in it which one do/did u prefer? Can I add sports like this on coros device? How accurate is the gps of them? The battery life with GPS is really important for me but I also don't want to take my phone with me while running.. The coros pace 2 is smaller and feminine but the Garmin has maps and training. Hardest decision of my life, lol. I mostly want to use it for cycling, running, hiking, swimming but the more sports the device have the better it is. Pleeeeeease give me some advice:-)) Thank you, Zsófi
You are right I’ve been thinking about the comparison video for a while, I think it might be time. The problem is I’m not sure which to recommend! There is little to separate them to be honest, the reason I still use the 245 over the pace 2 is two fold. 1. I own the 245 and not the pace 2 (I had to send it back) 2. I use the music feature when I run. If I was choosing again (the pace 2 didn’t exist at the time) I may have gone for the pace 2. The battery life should not be underestimated, if music is not a deal breaker then it might be the one to go for.
Thanks for the video! But my concern is how do I change the icon of the activity, can we change it? I want an icon for a hike activity on my watch screen. I can't find an icon like a man with his bagpack, for instance.
No I don’t think so, it just uses whatever icon is associated with the copied activity. That would be so good if you could choose from a library or even upload a custom one. Pilates looks a little bit like someone on a wall 🤷♂️
Thanks for the vídeo. Just one question, the activity "Tennis" come with the garmin 245 or you downloaded or created it? I just got a garmin 255 but doesnot have tennis :( that's my favority sport. And this aplication that you have, does it work well? Does it score how many forehands, backhands, etc you did? Thanks a lot if you could help me with these informations.
why does my garmin 245 is counting calories every minute? even though it is at rest? is it something i have to reset? or what is its mechanism behind it?
I created a track workout from scratch and the Activity Type defaults to Other. How can I change it to Run on my watch without doing in manually after each workout
I think triathlon is too much of a stretch to be honest. There is no way to do multiple defined sports. You would have to start and stop each sport, if you need triathlon you would be looking at one of the more expensive watches.
So if I would like to setup a custom where I don't need GPS data, I can create a new one without data fields for distance/speed/... to exclude GPS data being logged? Or is this data always logging, with the GPS connected, with our without GPS data fields present in the activity?
Hello Chris , I cannot do it with the Garmin Forerunner 45 plus , it doesn't allow me to create any activity . I would like to create tennis. What could I do ?
Not even that , you cannot even change the name on the connect app. The only way it's to create a manual activity on the app , but then when it synchronize it doesn't show on the 45 plus . The only way I found ' till now it's to create a workout in running from the application and that's I can synchronize with the 45 plus.
You can add any sport you want. For skipping I would think a modified cardio workout would be the best place to start. If you’re hoping to count rope rotations or something more specific like that , it may be a bit more tricky.
Did i get that right? Garmin has no scientific data on how much calories you burn while doing squash, ice hockey, inline hockey etc. what’s the point to copy „cardio“ or something else and display it’s calories?
Not too sure what you mean but my guess is it would be in the settings menu of the activity. When you start your activity press up to go to the options for that activity and then go into settings for the activity. It's most likely an alert or setting in there. Hope that helps, otherwise let me know some more specifics and I can try to replicate.

Yes but you would need to set up a custom activity for dance, probably based on a cardio workout. I have a video on how to do it here: czcams.com/video/Pkgmxc2mBOA/video.html
