    This is a fantastic video. Straight to the point, loved that you showed the phone screen while setting it up on the phone. Nevertheless, not a criticism by any means, this video was super helpful and well put together, thanks so much

    • @RunningOtaku
      @RunningOtaku  Před 3 lety +1

      Good suggestion, thanks! Yes, the watch provides audio cues for the start and finish of each lap. When the lap is complete, it will tell you the lap time. I also use it on long runs by setting the auto lap to every mile (or km) and then I’ll hear what my pace for that last mile was without ever having to look at my watch. Love it!

    I have a Suunto watch, and the Movescount app had/has a workout builder that is similar, but less sophisticated. That app is being discontinued, and the replacement Suunto app does not have the functionality yet. I have moved to the new app (you can’t run them both apparently), so I’m stuck with the one workout that I saved to the watch! I think Suunto are a way behind Garmin on a lot of aspects of the user experience. One thing that annoys me in the workout is that I have the steps set by time, but I still have to press the lap button for the watch to record the splits.
    Sorry for the rant!

      Jodi Runs It’s interesting that it comes down to software for many of us as a critical factor for picking a GPS watch.

    • @cnicholson123456
      @cnicholson123456 Před 4 lety

      Same here with Ambit3 which I got for trail running since it will last like 20hrs at 1sec pings for GPS (In northern GA mountains). Interval work outs are a pain using Movescount web software. You can only set an interval in miles or time, and the miles default to the 1/10 (so only 1.8 and not 1.87 for a 3K TT) Also you have to enter/start the workout and then enter into settings and Activate feature for intervals. The activate is ok, but sometimes I have forgotten and hard to restart the workout after the first interval never finishes :-(. FYI - I've owned Forerunners 305, 405, 310XT, 910XT, and Fenix 2. All good watches, except the Fenix 2, I would crash and reboot during workouts. I assume I just had bad hardware on the watch. FWIW, the Suunto Ambit3 has never once crashed. Garmin does have the better software on the web and mobile apps.

    Dude, Good Vid. I liked it for you :)
    I have a question for you.
    I often create a tempo run and love using the watch for this. So, for example, I will set the tempo step to 3km @ 6:12 - 6:22 / km. However, when running I am still confused as to whether the watch is giving me the average pace for the step or the current pace.
    Do you know what it is showing?

    • @RunningOtaku
      @RunningOtaku  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks!
      If it says “Lap Pace” then it is is showing you the ave pace for that rep. If it just says “Pace” then it is current pace. I always use Lap Pace because the current pace readings can fluctuate widely during the rep.

      @@RunningOtaku Ah. thanks. BTW I picked up the 645 Music for the same price as the 245 Music here in the UK and I'm happy to trade the latest heart rate monitor, body battery and pulse-ox for the barometer and the greater number of activities on the 645. I also think the 645 looks more premium. :-)

    I use this feature, but I use an actual distance for recovery. However, you bring up a good point that there will be inaccuracies doing that. I'll start using the lap press on the track.
    Do you have any experience with PacePro Plans? I'm considering testing the feature out in my upcoming impromptu Half Marathon. Usually, I'll create a workout like you've done for my races, but the PacePro Plan seems pretty neat and cuts out a lot of the work required in building the race.

      If you are asking where to find a programmed workout that you uploaded to your 245, the answer is: click the top right button, scroll to “Run” and click the top right button again. Then click the middle left button and scroll to “My Workouts” and select it by clicking the top right button.

I noticed this near end of warmup, and readying to start workout. Can I get confirmation of buttons to press from absolute start to first interval?

      If the HR warning comes up, I think you can let it go away by itself or press the bottom left button to make it disappear. Once you start a structured workout, you shouldn’t need to press any buttons until the finish. If you do want to skip to the next step, you can just press the lap button.

      There could be a few reasons. One common error is to forget to click the button in the app to send the workout to the watch (the icon looks like a phone with an arrow pointing out) and then hit the sync button.

    So, after my warmup and before I start my actual training, I like to do some drills and maybe a few stretches, but that isn't possible using this kind of structured workout as it's essentially just one training including warmup and cooldown, am I right? I would have to pause after my warmup to do the drills, no?

    • @RunningOtaku

      It works fine for drills/stretches. After the warm-up, just press the stop button when you do your drills/stretching and then hit the start button as soon as your ready for your first set.
