The “Royal Shave” at England’s Fanciest Barbershop

- During my time in England I always wanted to visit a fancy barbershop and get a full, traditional wet shave. So today we visited Haks Oscar, a proper male grooming lounge on Kings Road in Chelsea. With beautiful traditional decor and highly skilled barbers, they give you a haircut and shave in a gorgeous setting, while an assistant simultaneously gives you a manicure! And then at the end you get a nice head and neck massage. A truly wonderful and relaxing ASMR experience. Anyway, if you’re interested in getting a haircut or shave there you can visit their website at: www.haksoscar.co.uk/

WHITE AMERICAN GUY GOES TO LONDON AND SPEAKS ENGLISH, LOCALS STUNNED
haha Xiaoma speaks perfect English, locals were definitely stunned :D
Not quite the Queen's English that we are expecting.
@@nicogervacio3760 Shall I say British using the Queen English? Or how American English using the Washington English ?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I didn’t know there were any white people left in America. I base this on an analysis of current American popular musical culture.
As a citizen of the Untied Kingdom, I can tell you that the Barber shop you visited was most likely not the fanciest in England.
The decor might be fancier than most. But you're right, seems like a standard Turkish barbershop to me. There's 3 of them within a 5 mile radius of my house.
Indeed. Trumpers on Curzon Street is rather more fancy in a traditional British way.
It’s just it’s location being on kings road. My Turkish barber will be better and most prob half the price.
As someone who understands what "subjective" means, I can tell you, well, you do not.
@@jamesdare8584 only 3?? theres like 3 of them at a 200 meter stretch in my city

I think "England's fanciest barbershop" is a bit of a stretch with this one.
Yep, Geo. Trumper, Truefitt & Hill, Taylor Of Old Bond Street, and DR Harris are the old school meccas. :)

It's a stupid question to ask a barber to be fair.

Really cool that he went to England to immerse himself in the language so he can learn it faster
“His English is almost good. Vocabulary could use some work”
Definitely not the most fanciest barbershop but not bad. The guy’s haircut was average and he seemed in a rush and not very talkative. Part of the barbershop experience is more than just the haircut or pampering, it’s the way the barber makes you feel comfortable and relaxed and not rushed.
Hear hear.
Agreed. I hate it when the barber is talking shit about his neighbors in the building while complaining about other barbers being too egotistic about their abilities. Like...what about me man???
He cuts bloody Jose Mourinhos hair
I actually appreciate a barber who doesn't try to make conversation. I'm there to get a haircut, shave, and to relax. I don't want to feel forced into conversing with a stranger.
@@brandonb.5304 Some barbers really shouldn't talk...and others only a little...it all comes down to their intention behind why they do what they do
The female in this is so relaxing and makes the video worthwhile. She has a very soft touch x
Am I the only one who felt sleepy watching him get pampered? Must feel so relaxing being in that chair.
well I did fall asleep, for 1 hore and rewached the video XD

Man as a very bearded fellow, I can attest to how luxurious a good barber feels. I used to go to Canada's largest (but also one of Canada's best) barber shops when I lived in Calgary. It's legit spa day for dudes lol. when you lay back and have that hot towel around your face after a fresh straight blade lineup, oh it's divine. I nearly pass out cold every time haha!
He put the hot towel up there and it was it for me, I felt instantly sleepy
@@Fenthule I’m in Calgary what’s the barbershop called bro
You should visit England's Chinatowns and speak Chinese there (although most of them are likely from Hong Kong hence they speak Cantonese) or visit South Asian neighbourhoods and try to speak Hindi/Urdu. Or even speak Yoruba in Nigerian areas that are mostly in South London like Brixton.
♥️
He actually did go to the Nigerian area already, check out his last video👍

I think Mia is a fine addition to the barbershop!!! WOW 🤩
With you learning so many languages, it’s nice to see you finally giving English a go!

I was thinking the same, languages are difficult but different regional British accents are a challenge! 😁
Or in London, every 10 meters.

It’s definitely worth it if you can find a reputable place. When I was a single man I use to get this done every other week. Now that I have a kid I get a much more standard sub par haircut. I really miss it. But they are $$$.
Great barber service! Thorough, experienced barber. Shop was decent too, loved the wood surround. Mia added that extra delicate touch. Very impressive! Looks like you enjoyed the experience too.
Nice observations
I remember when I was younger my auntie had a barbershop. And she was the best. But sometimes she was busy and so I would go to John. John had an eccentric style but would cut my hair well and he would shave the back of my neck and it used to freak me out and now I miss it so much.
I went in one day to find out John had passed of cancer. He had it really bad and refused treatment. He didn’t want to sadden anyone and so he cut hair until he fought it to a draw.
Sorry for the long story. But seeing the shave on the neck brought back a nostalgic response.
When he laughed at prince coming in because it’s probably Prince Andrew 😂
Nah, wasn't Andrew, else the manicure girl would have fled.

Nice banannas
If it was indeed the "fanciest" barbershop in England, it would have been booked up solid for months ahead and the other chair would also have been occupied, taking passing traffic means it was simply a run-of-the-mill establishment. Although I do admit that the service was high quality and the barber was well skilled.
You're mistaking the words fancy and popular they are totally different. It was just a fancy barbershop
@@MoistYoghurtexactly, while it isn’t as posh as say Truefitt and Hill it’s certainly fancy compared to most barbers

Great video. I recently had a similar complete shave at a proper barbers shop myself. Very enjoyable !!
Just one quick point (as a CZcamsr myself, I learned this one the hard way !!). You have flickering in some parts of this video. This is because your camera is shooting at a different frame-rate than the lighting works at. IE In the UK we have a 50 Hz electrical system. This means that certain lights (EG Neon lights) are actually switching on and off 50 times-per-second.
If you are in the UK, and you shoot at any frame rate other than 50 FPS, you get flickering. I am not sure what the frequency of the US electrical system is, but I know that it is different to the UK system.
It is always a good idea to check the local electrical frequency (and alter your camera accordingly) before you start shooting.
I hope that this helps !!
Anyway, as I said above, great video !!
60 in the US, 120 for fluorescent.
@@EMBPercussion The thing is, this video was shot in the UK (as mentioned in the first 10 seconds of the video). In the UK the electrical system works at 50Hz. If you shoot at more than 50 FPS (in the UK) you will run into issues of flickering, as appears in this video.
now I gotta go back and look. I dont pick up on that kind of stuff. OK just watched a good bit of it again. I dont see any flickering. Can you tell me a specific time so i can really try and see this flickering?
@@ddo8521 The first 20-25 seconds of the video the neon lights near the entrance of the shop are flickering. Then from around 5:50 onwards. As much of this video uses the natural light from the windows, things are OK. But the parts of the video in-which the indoor lights come into the picture are the ones effected by flickering.
The price tag may be high, but consider this:
you want to be presentable on the big day like an interview or a wedding or a family meeting.
High? You've clearly never been to Toni and Guy. It'll cost you about £200 for a colour and cut.
