Good comparison. Given you compare battery life between HD with 3 cells battery and 4k with 6 cells, I would have also mentioned that there is another considerable difference in that scenario, particularly for people who deal a lot with video footage and raw files. Installing the smaller battery allows for fitting in a secondary hard drive, alongside the M.2 SSD. This makes a huge difference in access speed and reliability compared to using an external hard drive.

Good idea. Actually, I would be curious to know if your board does have any connector for a secondary hard disk at all. I read that on models shipping with the larger battery, DELL removed the connector so even switching to a smaller battery in itself does not solve the problem. Some suggested that it is easy to add the connector but I am not quite sure if that is the case.
Aldo Tanca i think its always better more battery for content creation, i mean content creator always travel and its easier to pay the extra memory on you main drive than less battery, i mean there are 2gbs ssd out there and you have extra battery at the same time, 2 drives make it no sense since you can have only one with bigger memory and that 3 extra hours of battery :)

great video, OMG, having recently purchased a 2018 dell 15 9570, recently I was not made aware of a swelling battery issue. I am curious as to know if you have hade to replace the battery at all and how long are the batteries rated to last? Was there any error and or alert that the Windows OS gave you in your discovery of the battery problem, that is did you perform a diagnostic which informed you prior? This really sucks, to where I may now consider returning the laptop for this reason. Thanks

I received my XPS 15 Touch display. I connect it to an external monitor with a HDMI. The text in external dispay is not sharp and disturbs to look at. i played with resolution and etc. but it did not help. is the monitor too weak for the laptop?? or what could be the solution?

Fantastic comparison! Thank you for doing it. It's definitely helped make my decision easier on which screen to get. I'm leaning towards the 4K display. I'm an engineering major, so it's not necessarily the color accuracy that sways me in that direction- it's really just how beautiful it is to look at while still being functional, especially with the improved battery life the 9560 offers.

I may need to replace the panel on a 9560 I have bought for real cheap, and both LCD panels are similarly priced right now. I have experienced the 4k, and I love the blacks and flush bezels. I think I will get that if I need to change the panel. Thanks for the very helpful video!

The thunderbolt will only allow you to use 20gbps and the egpu needs 40gbps. The thunderbolt splits the 40gbps in two...something like that I read. Also, egpus that use thunderbolt are throttled due to the thunderbolt so the gpu is not used to full potential...like 40% less fps. Look up the "razer core egpu enclosure" for more information before making that purchase.

This ghosting in FHD is in all 9560's? Or is that an issue of some of them? My 9560 is anoying me with this (5 days since i bought) :( if i return i could say its a factory problem?
Edge bowser is optimize for touchscreen and smooth scrolling. I've notice this on my surface pro 3 when using Edge browser over chrome browser however, there is add-on SmoothScroll which does help to some extend.
Why when you change to 4K everything go small? Is it stay small like that ?

Wondering how you got the background colors to match on both screens? Due to the UHD, doesnt it have a different interpretation of the sRGB spectrum. My UHD screen is far more saturated in color with the exception of color managed programs. Thoughts?
Yeh I guess the colour look tuned the same but the UHD has more contrast , sharper, deeper colours and more vivid like you say. I guess the camera and CZcams compression.

Hi! I noticed that in the 4k version the Windos menu appears to be smaller in size. I'm buying a Dell notebook with a 4k screen this weekend. Ayo, jus for a heads up for any new comer. The blur app is due to scaling. Just like a normal small icon, if you scale it big, it will become blurry, however, 70% of these problems are solvable by windows itself. These problems happen because the developer didn't account for the 4k resolution screen, thus, the problem.
And no the small icon and everything can still be enlarge to a normal FHD screen no problem.

I went to look at the 4k version today at a retail store and noticed it is extremely over saturated. The photos on my website which appear properly edited for skin tones on my imac 5k retina are very orange and overdone. Any feedback on this issue?

I see that you've also used MacBook Pro which are glossy screens. How do you feel the 9560 4K compares to the MacBook Pro screen in terms of reflections? I've never noticed MBP reflections, but, I heard one person saying the 9560 reflections are very noticeable. What do you think?
+Cody Konior I would say if anything the Mac is marginally better. I have not had a issue with either in terms of reflections. The reality is if any glossy screen is at a dark scene and the light is bright enough at the right angle you will see reflections. In normal indoor lighting conditions with a normal bright screen, you won't notice it.

+Cronolfrost I would get the XPS 15 it's just a more premium package. Not sure if the mounts are the same I know when they replace a XPS 15 display they replace the whole lid.

Samsung is faster, very little in it to choose which is better for gaming, I generally recommend the 4k XPS 15

I've noticed even with a clean install, that google chrome is very buggy with the xps 15. I keep getting lag and not responding errors. Does this happen to anyone else? Considering taking it back because screw using ms edge.
You have to turn off GPU acceleration on Chrome until it has a update fix.

Well your out of luck I guess. 4k is the way to go for mine and anything over FHD you have to scale anyway.

You won’t be video editing or gaming with any laptops for 6 - 7 hours on battery. You will get that many hours with general use

But I don't know what to look at, I have already a 27 inch Dell UP2720Q monitor and a separate system unit with Rizen 9.

I would love to have 4k anti-glare option. I already have FHD XPS 9560 and the screen quality is fantastic. I read a lot, I use a MS Office, I sometimes edit photos, I watch a lot of videos. This full hd matte display is great for all of that. But definitely 4k ani-glare would have been even better option.

I did watch the video, but I was wondering if the displays from the past 9550 xps series laptops were compatible with the newer 9560 cod laptops for screen replacement reasons.
I don't play a TON of games, but how does this perform? Getting the 4K and scaling to 1080p for games: is it crisp? I do a lot of photo editing, but would like the added bonus of a laptop that's capable of playing modern games (it's been ages since I've placed PC games - been solely using my PS4 - and my aging 13" MacBook Pro for photo editing that simply CAN'T run modern games).

Can you do a comprehensive review of the battery life for both the models i.e. the FHD and the UHD? There are a lot of battery benchmarks out there like on a video loop and web browsing and heavier workloads. I ask because there are a lot conflicting numbers out there. Some claim around 5 for the UHD while others claim around 7. This is the only thing I need to know before deciding which screen to get.

+Cristina Breccia Certainly the 4k has the sharpest text and probably kinder on the eyes but reflection might be a issue in open air.

Is the 4K screen comparable to Macbook pro? I am looking for a new laptop with a better display to read/work directly on the laptop. I usually work via connected monitors and can't stand the screen of my existing Dell 5500 series.

Thanks for the extensive reviews! I need help!!! I've got the 4K 9560. Have had issues from start (had it for 4 days now). Main concern is horrible banding and blotchiness in gradients and dark areas/shadows of images! Any ideas!?

Thanks for the quick response! It's appreciated! I found people suggesting that online, went ahead and removed premier color altogether after testing all the profiles, also update Intel GPU and went down on the Nvidia drivers - still banding and blotching. Really disappointing.
Wnat the 4k Dell XPS connected to 27 inch iMac and see how the 4k display looks like in that IMAC. Is it possible? How to and how will that look like? Refresh rate 60Hz or less that will be?

Can you do a video talking about all the driver problems and how to fix and make the laptop run as fast/best as possible. I got my new xps 15 9560 4K only a week ago and when just browsing the Internet it often stops responding, and often freezes for a few seconds when doing minimal tasks. had the same problem while browsing on chrome. It was a problem with nvidia driver 378.66 which was bugged with the gtx 1050. You can fix it disabling gpu acceleration on chrome or just doing a fresh install of windows and installing nvidia driver up to 378.44 and not .66
Try using edge, chromes GPU rendering is playing up

Also not very savvy with laptops, but did change my HDD to SSD and added extra RAM myself. So my question is, is it difficult to do this for a not very savvy person?

Yes, of course. Everyone should already know the difference between 4K and HD. ;-) After I got the Dell XPS 15 home it didn't take me long to realize that I had quite definitely made the right choice! A lot of what I do is photo editing with Photoshop/Lightroom CC and video editing with DaVinci Resolve. I love this computer and the 4K screen has to be seen to appreciate how good it is.

No, they are both gloss so its does not have that matter bezel but most of principles still apply
Do you think buying the extended insurance is necessary? I bought two years accidental and premium, but feel I should just get the 4K screen instead.
Usually if something goes wrong its in the first year so I guess its up to you. 12 months warranty is fine for me.

Do you know yet whether the Full HD version of the 2018 XPS 15 has a lip/bezel around the display like what you described on the 2017 Full HD XPS 15? I like how the 4k version doesn't have this lip/bezel.

+David Lopez Ghosting is when something moving on the screen leaves a ghost like trail. Every LCD or IPS panel has ghosting to some extent. With the XPS 15 I don't really notice it I'm the real world but some people do and there is also variants from panel to panel. I have no issues. I think you will be happy. If you don't a display with the least amount of ghosting get a gaming laptop.
Western Gents United and for not so heavy gamers (like me) for gta v or forza 3 will i notice?
