Please I have a question, how can one send a long message to a recruiter , or hiring manager when we are not connected since you prefer to send the message before sending the connection request...? Im trying to contact a hiring manager but he's a 3rd circle connection so the only msg I can send is through the "note" in connect which is only 200 characters. That's not much...Thanks in advance.

I decided to turn off LinkedIn because recruiters play offense, where as it feels like much of my profile puts me on defence before I have the chance to setup shop in their heads. A local job search/ back to work counselor advice was that I should hide my resume till after people meet me in person, as I present well. AM I doing it wrong? I'm a production level worker in Software sales. Would love anyone's input.
Don't overthink this! If you'd like to keep your resume off LinkedIn, that's A-O-K. Most recruiters don't need them if you're profile is in good order!
I completely agree with you. I’ve used LinkedIn in the past and ended up wasting valuable time fending off predatory 'labor agencies.' I’m not interested in or need non-job-related contacts and social connections online. My focus is on finding meaningful work opportunities, not on navigating through irrelevant or dubious engagements.
I’d like to know if the backend of LinkedIn or the ATS provides estimated ages? I never get contacted. I was laid off last August at the age of 58. I have a Pulitzer Prize multiple Emmy Awards. I engage on LinkedIn. Never heard from a recruiter, not even once…

I used to get contacted on linkedin by recruiters. I changed my profile. I put im the director of my own business ( also i have a full time job) and they have not contacted me anymore. It is a bad idea to put my bussiness there?.
That will typically hurt you. It looks like you have two full time jobs. Plus, they worry you will moonlight if you join their organization.
