Being in the job market within IT isn't very friendly currently! With AI screening applicants, this takes away from ethical and moral decision making in finding the right candidate, not so much for skillsets, but for the ability to collaborate, communication, and build trusting professional relationships.

Hi Andrew, your content has helped me succussfully get through the entire interviewing process with a company I would like to work for! I recently completed the final interview with the company. The next day, they emailed me and told me a did a job well done and that they should "have some good news for me soon". This week, they emailed me and informed me that they are in the process of interviewing another candidate and that they will give me another update next week. How do you suggest I navigate this scenario?

Thank them. Reiterate your interest. Then wait. While you wait I suggest continuing your search in full force. Of course, good luck on all accounts!!

I find this advice helpful, but I’m struggling to find a way to use it for a non sales/revenue position. I am an instructional designer and work on a team.
It works for every position. It’s not specific to function types. If you design programs, you’re teaching employees something. What is it they need to learn? Are you accelerating their development so they can learn it faster and be more prepared when they start? On and on and then you go with the formula!
@Andrew LaCivita as part of the context for one role can I actually say that marketing & client service manager that already there was supposed to report to me was walked out the morning I started and I had an associate with no background in financial services nor had any idea what he was working on & no one had a clue who all there clients actually were, etc. The CEO handed me his laptop and said "just make it better?"
I typically never say that because it sounds so awful but it's the truth and within 3 months they gave me a substantial bonus for all the changes I had made thus far as I was operating in complete ambiguity and without a playbook.
"How much money would you like to make?" - Let's have a conversation, and see how it goes, I'm sure that as we get to know each other the numbers will fall into place.

Ageism. Alot of companies wont hire older workers.
Opportunities are less when you are older.
