    I just had a job offer and the salary negotiation was a joke honestly. I prepared so much for this interview, watched Andy’s videos and all, was ready to negotiate. And the tone the recruiter had from the get go was off putting. She said,” I am going to make this quick, I want to share that we would love for you to join the team. The salary for this position is $30 per hour and I’ll send the offer letter tomo….” She did not ask me if I accept the offer? When I started negotiating, I could feel her energy through the phone. She basically told nope that’s not happening. So I said ok, let’s talk about benefits, her attitude was what about it. She basically said no to all my questions. I don’t know if I should be happy or furious. I honestly can’t walk away from the job cause my circumstances but what a start! Andy, any thoughts on this?

    These interviews nowadays are 30 minutes tops with the employer blabbing away leaving you 90 seconds left on the call to ask questions. I’m not talking the screening. They probably make the interviews shorter so you can’t ask questions. And in the low-budget hire economy where employers are hiring on a contract basis through a staffing agency, you’re not talking to the company directly. I tried this same approach from studying your videos and the hiring company wasn’t budging. This may work when companies want to spend money on talent again. After the white collar recession. And even then, I don’t think we are going back to the way things were.

      I had the same experience, they don’t let you talk.

    Hello, first I wanted to thank you for all of your amazing videos. It has really helped me over the years. Currently I have been on 3 rounds of interviews with a total of 5 people. The first round was from the senior recruiter via phone, the second was through webex with the hiring manager and the third was a group interview that consisted of the person that is retiring that hopefully I will be replacing, another was in charge of new construction and marketing, and the third person was part of the real estate and development team. The interview went extremely well and so I thought that was the final round but I received an email from the recruiter wanting me to do another webex, but with 2 other team members. It is for a corporate office position for a senior living community. At this point, I dont know what else they are looking for or what other questions they would like to ask. Is it common or rare to have 4 rounds of interviews?

    Will this work with a nonprofit or government?

    • @andylacivita
      @andylacivita  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes. With government, you are maneuvering to show them you can be a higher level which in turn pays more.

      It’s not working with government bro lol. Been there. Government is the lowest bid wins. Public sector doesn’t care about “the best” like private sector.
