The funniest thing is, I was watching with my aunt and was telling her that this gives me the mummy and pirates of the Caribbean vibes, at the exact same scenes Honest Trailer mentioned it😄😄😄

So far the absolutely ONLY Hollywood actor whose native language is English and whose German sounds like actual German. The only one who dedicated himself to a German speaking role.

Honestly some of those dad jokes were kind of funny. Best part of the movie in my opinion. A short list of the Dad jokes from the movie is better than the actual movie. The rest of it is just one giant CG effect.
This is still the closest we’ll ever get to The Rock remaking a Humphrey Bogart film.

He wasn't taking orders from a bee. The bee was giving him directions and telling him information.
I think the spoiler was that the rock was immortal. The bee is like one of the other immortal dude's drones

The Portuguese had a treaty with the Spanish in 1494. That's when they got Brazil and the right to explore the Amazon. But the Spanish were there first.

@@DoctorZisIN The movie is set in Porto Velho, in Rondonia. That part of Brazil had no European settlers until the 19th century. And the Spanish didn't really do any meaningful colonization in what is nowadays Brazil afaik.
Not sure if this has been addressed yet but I think one of the most upsetting things about this movie is that nobody did the steamboat willie whistle... I was kinda expecting it at least once.
I rewatched the first Pirates of the Caribbean recently after almost 2 decades. And I was honestly blown away by how well it holds up & how it's actually a legit good film.
I think it gets overshadowed by the sequels cause they're on a more grander scale but in my opinion, it's the better film. Also, surprised how good the sword fight choreography was in this. It honestly one of the best action adventure films of all time for me
Action scenes in the original trilogy is god tier.
I think the other thing is that Johnny Depp wasn't drunk on himself it it either. He was very loud, but the rest of the movie is quite enjoyable. Each movie after just because more and more about Johnny Depp being a douche.
The first one was the only good one really, but it was damn good.

Oh the original trilogy by Gore Verbinski was brilliant. The series should have ended after that. They did a huge mistake by removing Will and Elizabeth from the story and giving Jack the leading role. Jack Sparrow should have always remained a sidekick.
I also love Dwayne Johnson’s character because you can tell he’s super depressed and psychotic due to how long he’s been alive but hides behind his shitty dad jokes and passive aggressiveness.

The Rock is still trying to make us believe that he’s a normal person. He’s totally not something that built in a Dwarven foundry who’s main purpose is to lead the rebellion against the Elves.
Personally I really loved this movie including all the bad jokes and the Rock continuing his streak of not being killable.
I agree, my mother and I liked it for the same reason other people don't. Yes, they should have explained some of the concepts more, but it was fun. The Mummy was the same way. You didn't watch it for the "scary" mummy bad guy (except that he did have a body that fit into the barely-there clothes), you watched it for the character interaction, the humor, bumbling, and silliness. You watched it BECAUSE of it, not dispite it. You can tell they all had a lot of fun doing both movies and the behind-the-scenes fun seeped into the movie to for us to see and enjoy.
No mention of the fact that she set out to change the world of modern medicine then just simply forgot about it and the film never bothered circling back to her entire driving motivation for almost the entire film..?

No mention because it's not a fact. You weren't paying attention. It started with that, it came up again much farther into the movie when she explains it to the skipper, and the whole ending scene with her brother turning down the old men's invitation was about her already making progress towards her goal.

It did start with that, and again it came up later with the skipper, which is why I said it was her driving motivation for almost the entire film. But the ending speech didn't really address it. All he said was that they had a great adventure and his sister was now a professor at Cambridge. It implies that her goal was to be part of the society, (rather than change modern medicine) And then she realized that she didn't need a bunch of crusty old men. So she went to Cambridge instead. It doesn't mention anything about changing modern medicine, and her scene driving off in the car doesn't either. The "changing modern medicine" thread is left hanging.
I wonder if this means there’s now a chance The Rock can make cameos on the Jungle Cruise ride like Johnny Depp started making cameos on the Pirates ride…

I love that Jungle Cruise is just a less funny version of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Both films have “Jungle” in their names too!
Jumanji at least forces the Rock to play an actual character (a dude pretending to be a dude) instead of himself for a dozen time

I can’t believe they made a ride based on a classic Disney theme park attraction, yet didn’t have any of the lines from the ride except for a brief Backside of water. At the bare minimum you could have had a bloke called Trader Sam in the Port.

When this first came out on Disney, I watched it with my young son. I fully expected to hate it. And I have never been happier to be wrong! 🙌

Dwayne and Emily B have an amazing chemistry offset. They are like brother and sister, constantly pranking each other and cutting one another down hysterically.

I'm getting some Romancing the Stone/Jewel of the Nile vibes from this movie. If you haven't seen it, I can guarantee you that it is way better.

Many years ago, a lady at my work who was really fond of The Rock talked to me about a kiss scene in one of his films and confessed she dreamt of being kissed that way. So I guess he's doing alright.

The only part you missed was her hair. They are in the middle of a jungle, on a boat, and she is able to maintain hair that looks like it came directly from a shampoo commercial.
This movie just felt like a mashup of Indiana Jones, and pirates of the Caribbean
