    Did my very first ever flex delivery today, was retail, as it was my first time it was all new and trying to figure out things, had 5 packages that were all over the place as in going north for one down south then north again but the last two were 59 miles away! I said hell to the no, marked it as undeliverable and took it back to the store. That was ridiculous and a Never again.

    I'm very new to Amazon FLEX and I really appreciate your videos sir! I haven't done my first route yet so I'm trying to watch every video I can to learn how to be efficient and good at this as a side gig. What happens if nobody claims a route? I noticed multiple routes for 1:30 were not claimed at 1:29 then I refreshed my phone at 1:32 and they no longer appeared, which makes sense to me considering 1:30 had come and gone. I consider it unlikely someone grabbed all 4 them. I was just curious if you had any knowledge on what occurs if there is literally nobody to deliver a package route? Thank you!

    Same happens to me very often here in Miami/Fort Lauderdale area, I pick up block from Tamarac warehouse, which is 11 miles from me. But delivery is 45 miles from the warehouse. I have to drive back home around 45-50 miles. Good part that I have a Uber/Lyft account too, so I can make some money on the way back home.

    I was doing flex for the past 2 years but only the same day delivery 3.30am 4.30hrs shift.. it increased to $157.5 so it’s good even if they ‘throw’ you out of nowhere! You just have to be efficient in the packages sorting to gain time while delivering.. But it’s exhausting! I stopped 2 weeks ago because I need to rest before the holiday season.. amazon retails is not a great way to make money, you’re absolutely right!

    Its extra bad for you because you are in Pittsburgh. I do not live in the area but have been several times and what I learnt was because of the mountains and twisty roads traffic is awful. It takes a very long time to get anywhere. Especially on that south end you are at. Because there are no major east-west roads, only north-south. I quickly learnt that when the GPS says something is 7 or 8 miles away, that sounds close, but it literally takes a half hour or close to get there. It's real hard to get from someplace like Baldwin or Bethel Park over to say Bridgeville or Cannonsburg.

    Besides Whole Foods & Amazon Fresh deliveries (thanks to customer’s tips), I am always discouraged to do Amazon Flex because of not knowing where we’re delivering, the miles and how many drop-offs. I did it a few times out of curiosity and end up doing 30+ deliveries for over 75 miles (and not counting the same or bit higher amount of miles heading back home) in a 3 and half hour shift. Therefore, this is why I always chose Walmart Spark over Amazon Flex. Don’t mind dealing with the long wait time at Walmart instead of unknown variables that comes with Amazon Flex.

      You can’t cancel without severe repercussions. I went from an excellent standing to almost being kicked off of Flex because I canceled one. Right now I’m in low fair because the app stopped working, and I couldn’t deliver and they’re penalizing me for it. I have emailed Driver Support multiple times With no resolution, and they finally told me today to stop emailing them about this and that their decision is final. I’m so tired of dealing with people not even from this country who don’t understand the variables of our neighborhoods and street systems. And there’s no way to contact anybody to help. The guy told me that they’re not helping me anymore on any situation and that I’m completely on my own.

    @redseven0079 Před 9 měsíci +2

    Amazon Flex is definitely either decent earnings or just absolute garbage blocks. I've only been doing it since June 2023 and from what I've seen and read, it all depends on what region you're in, status and how often surge pricing happens.
    Miles to dollar ratio is Awful. But there are some routes where in total it's 70 miles round trip and it happens to be a $140 block for 3-4 hours.
    Flip side, Worst Route I'd ever taken was $88 , 3 hours, they sent me to Salem, OR from Portland 😂. My total mileage that day was 155 miles. Half a tank for me was $30. So in total it was a $58 day.

    This is a direct copy/paste from IRS Pub 463:
    No regular place of work.
    If you have no regular place of work but ordinarily work in the metropolitan area where you live, you can deduct daily transportation costs between home and a temporary work site outside that metropolitan area.
    Generally, a metropolitan area includes the area within the city limits and the suburbs that are considered part of that metropolitan area.
    You can’t deduct daily transportation costs between your home and temporary work sites within your metropolitan area. These are nondeductible commuting expenses.

    • @sdgus68
      @sdgus68 Před 9 měsíci

      @@YourDriverMike (Not a CPA or tax professional either.) I go by what the US Census Bureau defines as the metropolitan area I live in. If my last flex drop off is outside of that boundary, I deduct the miles back home.

    They. Don’t. Care.
    Bottom line. They just don’t care. We are slaves.

    Why are you taking retail deliveries for 19 an hour??? I only take them when they are increased to at least 27 an hour or really 31 an hour. The miles on these block are really high and even at these peak hourly pay it is semi worth it. So 2hr block should be $62 and 2.5hr block should be $77.5. Why are you doing it at 19 an hour and complaining, you did it to yourself

      Also if you need to have a missing package remove just call them, the rep in chat can’t do anything and is a waste of time. I called many times and it gets taking care of in 2 minutes or less.

      I'm going to leave this comment up instead of deleting it. Fair warning with the name-calling, next time it will be a ban. I took the $19/hr to make content as mentioned in this video (and other Flex shifts if you've watched those). Also as mentioned in the video I tried getting on a call with support and no one would call me after 6 requests.

      @@YourDriverMike Fair enough, I do actually appreciate the response, wasn’t expecting a response. I’ll remove the name calling just for that. Not sure why you couldn’t get support on call normally they instantly pick up if you are on a shift. But everything I said still applies

      @@henrytran1187 I appreciate that, hey I hear you I'd take $25/hr+ shifts but sometimes if I wait too long the block gets taken or it never gets increased that high. I suppose the pay frustration is from how bad Flex is combined with the atrocious mileage on this shift.
