Flex is the best side hustle app. You get guarantee pay and 9 times out of 10 you are done your shift early, so you are really making more per hour if you think about it. I also like how if you arrive at the warehouse and there are not shifts; you still get paid. The cons are that you don't know your route and I also think its a little more wear and tear on your car compared to food delivery. Amazon flex is way more stop and go.

But... say you have 35 deliveries, and finish early... tomorrow you gonna get 45 deliveries for same time frame. Say you finish that early... tomorrow you gonna get 49 deliveries and some high-rise apartments that they know have access problems. IT NEVER STOPS.

Hey Mike, I have been doing amazon Flex because of your videos. it's been amazing. I realize that there are two types of amazon runs. Same sub Delivery and the routes that you show, where you scan the QR code. Well, the last one, I don't like it that much, I can get a 3 hour block with 40 packages sometimes and gigantic boxes BECAUSE THE WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATE SEES THAT I'M DRIVING A VAN WITH PLENTY OF ROOM, I guess the choose their victim or that's how I felt. So, that's why I only do Same-Sub Delvieries. They dont know what you are driving. You pick your cart and scan it however you want.

Every time I see these guys, while I'm delivering mail, I ask them to come work for the post office. You are set for life as a carrier... and, you don't have to deliver a parcel or mail if you're endangered by a dog. I have cut off delivery permanently to customers with mean dogs. They have to put a mailbox out by the sidewalk or rent a PO Box.
We are guaranteed 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week, and plenty of OT is available. Most carriers think they are working too many hours rather than not enough.
You drive a postal truck and the post office pays for the gas. You carry the same route every day after you become regular. The health insurance is excellent and you get a pension. If you're forced to wait for mail or parcels, you are on the clock and getting paid. Etc, etc.

I doubt they would ever give out the routes or people would cherry pick even more.
Just like with all Gig apps, the barrier for Entry is low, so that means once folks learn about , the base rate goes to garbage, and the newbies who don't know any better get taken advantage of.
I'm lucky because I have an EV and overall I keep more of my money because maintenance costs are near nothing. I'm even more fortunate because it's new and I have warranties to cover all those miles.
The Best example of the routes being so variable is exactly what happened to me yesterday. Portland to Salem , Oregon. I logged 159 miles, 44 packages , 44 stops, 4.5 hours , $153.
With traffic, I got done just in time. Overall it sucked , but I also had done the same exact route for $83 and 24 packages.
Mike needs to document one of these long haul trips so folks can see what "that" side of Amazon Flex looks like 😂.

I do amazon flex in seattle area, they got two warehouses that offer blocks from 3hrs to 5 hrs. At $24 minimum per hour, so they have a bunch of $120 blocks offered. I'll pick those up and be finished and home within in 3hrs of my start, sometimes 4hrs, with a total mileage of usually 60-90miles. Routes vary, but most of the time they're fine. Out of every 10 blocks I pick up, maybe 1 or 2 would be difficult/headache. During surge prices, they'll offer between $130-$180, sometimes up to $250. Most in picked up a block for was $249. Paying so close to to the minimum wage to where it's just enough to be legal. Not compensating for mileage and car wear and tear they are maximizing profits paying $20-30 per hour is really not worth it after gas, oil changes, fees, insurance. Flex in my area is so saturated with drivers, it barely surges over base pay for many of the blocks. They also changed the programming to where it's nearly impossible to get back-to-back blocks- as it seems they won't send any offers within 30 minutes of the listed end time of a block- even if you've delivered all packages and are within vicinity of the station BEFORE the actual block end time. Doubling commuting miles and dead time between routes. I love driving Flex but it has been horrible this year, even before Christmas. Pay has fallen by at least 30%, if not more. _Whole Foods_ $60-80 for a 10 mile, 2hr block
_Amazon Pharmacy_ - small packages, no returns but long rural mileage (usually end near my house)
Things I don't: _Same Day_ midtown routes to secured high-rise apts with code(or virtual) entry/lockers for unresponsive recipients.
_Prime_ DSP leftovers- 3hr, "30" mile routes that leave me stranded 75 miles in the dark Texas wilderness on the business end of a sawed-off _Browning_ 12 gauge 😫
Honorable mention: the difficulty of aquiring desirable blocks without bot script or auto clicker.....😣

@@trkeiser1 Maybe where you live. With Flex I still make about $24-$28/hr after considering gas and vehicle expenses. For 4 hour blocks I usually drive less than 80 miles round trip. Besides, you have to pay for your own gas for commuting to every single job on earth anyways.

Don’t forget you deduct your mileage while driving for taxes. So even if you have to drive some distance you are still making money with the IRS mileage deduction. In 2024 it’s 67¢/mile so every 100 miles you drive you get to deduct $67 for taxes. It adds up

Mike You have to look at the wear a tear on your vehicle plus you’re probably gonna have to put gas just to do the 3 or 4 hour run, Plus NO TIPS with Amazon. With A grocery orders and fast food might not be as much but you have a better opportunity to Get fast $$ and if you live in California we get Prop 22 & there’s always extra pay on some apps, With Amazon flex it’s straight forward 40pkg for 85$ and you probably gonna drive 80 to 100miles and you don’t get no extra pay and no Prop 22 and no Tips not worth it.

As the Amazon Flex driver is getting bad out here in Orlando all we got are retails anymore and they’re not even in Orlando and we don’t have much of the grocery orders. This is the retail out of Orlando I can in Merritt Island, Melbourne or Melbourne. It’s nuts out here for Flex. It probably because all the prime vans they got, they used to be really good in their holidays

    Totally disagree.
2 years ago DoorDash was the go to money maker.
But certainly not in 2024 compared to Amazon Flex. Especially when you add in the Whole Foods deliveries. The money just isn’t there with DoorDash anymore, and 2024 will continue to have declining base pay.
Yes DoorDash has more verticals but that doesn’t translate to more money at the end of the workday. You’d think it would, but it doesn’t when compared to Flex cash flow.

My only complaint if you are in a market with a lot of traffic and apartments it is a killer. If they could give an extra 1 hour to complete it would be great.
